i apologize, but i’m failing to understand the point of the posts directed at me that are mentioning other unanimous no.1 recruits. tim tebow, adrian peterson, jadaveon clowney, trevor lawrence, etc etc. i’m genuinely asking, because i don’t understand what point y’all are trying to make. all of those guys were far better college football players than QE has been which only supports the point i’ve been making, specifically that QE’s hype- the fan expectations, the heisman talk, the projected first round draft grade, etc- are a product of his HS rankings (and the fact that he has arm talent) and not based on his actual body of work as a college QB.

If you are referring to my post, I was commenting on your misunderstanding of what the perfect rating meant.  It does not mean that the services thought Quinn is the best QB since Vince.  It simply means there was a consensus agreement that he was the top recruit for his class.  That is rare, but it's occurrence is more coincidental than anything else.  Every year a player has a .999X rating because one or 2 of the sites has him #3 overall or something instead of #1, and there is no discernable difference between a 1.000 rating and a .999X rating (that occurs yearly) because none of the services have the capability to evaluate to that level.

The perfect rating is a red herring, but Quinn absolutely was an incredibly hyped recruit and he's at Texas, so yes that absolutely driving  public narrative about his ability which was your overall point, and I agree with that.

    there have been three:

    •Vince Young in 2002

*19 year gap where nobody was deemed to be VY’s equal*

•Quinn Ewers in 2021, making him the best prospect in nearly two decades, and essentially the greatest prospect of all time

    •Arch Manning in 2023

if you don’t think that QE’s nearly unprecedented hype has played into his lofty rankings and projections then i don’t know what to tell you.

I thought Arch ended up at less than 1.000 when in finalized rankings?  Not that it matters to your point, but a perfect ranking has nothing to do with deeming them equal to anyone in prior classes.  It's just a consensus on who the services believe is the best recruit that class.  If they all agree player X is the number 1 player in the class, that's a perfect rating.  There is practically zero difference than a 1.000 rating and the .999X rating that typically happens ever year, other than one of the sites listed the guy as #2 overall as if any of these sites can actually discern a difference between the #1 player vs #2 or #3.

He fucked himself by reclassifying. He should be in his sophomore year making improvements staring down the barrel of an insane junior year. He wanted to start his NFL clock early and we have Arch in the wings. Ewers is super talented but his potential will be realized in the NFL… not here. Him staying another year complicates way too many things.

So he is going to be good in the NFL, but he fucked himself?

Again. “Lone wolf” still gets Harbaugh fired.  He is responsible for all the things happening under his watch.

I'm not paying that close attention to the story, but why does that get him fired?  I get that it gives UM an out to fire him with cause if they wanted, but why would they want him gone?

I guess I never really noticed that he doesn't swear or reference sex or drugs really.  But he is absolutely fucking hilarious.  One of the 5 funniest comics on the road today.  Hands down.  He certainly has the chops to do SNL, I'm just picturing his delivery and mannerisms and wonder how in the fuck that's gonna work in sketches.  Like a Mulaney can still be physical and go big.  But Nate just can't do that, he's another operating plane of comedy.  Really curious to see how this goes.

I only know one thing, his video (if it's not cut for airtime) with Please Don't Destroy is going to be stuff of legend.

I only noticed because my daughter watches standup on her netflix profile but it filters out any TVMA specials.  We caught something of his on Netflix and have consumed everything we can find since.  Absolutely hilarious.

  6. I just connected the dots on this one.  Nate from The Office

    Turned into an energy vampire.

Not hard to spot looking at them, but The Office character ran during the lean years and wasn't really featured, but I recently binged WWDS and saw an old episode of the Office on TV and hit me that Nate is Colin Robinson.

He would have to be a 5th year senior because the first photo was in 2018 when they played Kentucky so if he is still in the corps in 2022 that would mean he was in school for 5 years minimum.

Wouldn't he need the owners to vote to allow him to be a partial owner because you can't be both (player and owner)?

I guess he could go to Green Bay then?

Beyond that there is a slotted rookie wage scale in the CBA, and that is something the NFLPA has no desire to reverse.  They want less money available for rookies not more.  So unless he plans on going undrafted his rookie salary is already set.

I enjoyed the first episode but there were times when it seemed like it was dragging on versus getting the actual story started.

Great atmosphere, and I enjoy Bruce Greenwood in everything he does.  I hope they keep it interesting.

What was last year's?  The preacher who brought home a vampire?

The Midnight Club.  Terminally ill teenagers get together and tell scary stories.  I don't remember if I finished it or not.
