  1. So tomorrow is Jake and Gordo? That should be good but I can see them going down some AI type wormhole.
  2. I went to a movie of the month back in the spring, Over the Top, and she was there. Not too shabby.
  3. So far way too much Corby. His kids Ticker was great but man he needs to pass the ball some.
  4. They might start the thread with good intentions but then Surly would take over with different intentions I'm afraid.
  5. I used cocaine routinely for years and when I quit drinking I was able then to realize what abusing it had done to me. So as Bear said yes, you're welcome here.
  6. Real close to the stadium is Blue Goose, if you want no frills laid back Mexican food. It's easy to pop a spot at the bar for one. Just right up Main Street to the East is Haystack Burgers and Barley which has some good burgers.

Me and @threesheets went in early September and it was good. The guy doing the carving needed a little more practice and the brisket needed a bit more smoke. But all in all was good. Been meaning to go back just haven’t made it.
  8. Oh yeah, I was wondering what her outburst was proving besides a laugh or two. I could see that.
  9. I lost it when they were standing around cheering on Chad while he was nailing that hooker.

There is just something about having a server at a BBQ joint that doesn't feel right.
  11. I looked into it just last week but my rate is favorable above what I was seeing. I just did the generic rate/offer solicitation from Credible, which I saw referenced in a publication as a reliable referral, with minimal information from me (no credit was pulled) and the lowest fixed rate I was getting back was around 3.2 - 3.5%. I think this was the day Treasury lowered rates so they might be lower now. I was hoping for something a little lower but the going rates seem to be 3's from what I saw. If anybody has knows a better one on a fixed rate holla at me.

Who's going to try this one out first? Prices are what you would expect for Pappa Bros, $28.95 for a plate of brisket. Plus the menu seems a bit busy. https://www.pappasdeltablues.com/plano http://content.pappas.com/images/dyn/menus/menu_2135.pdf
  13. Thanks to the program of Alcoholics Anonymous and you people in this thread today makes 3 years completely sober. The days leading up to and immediately following this day always cause me to reflect back. It was about 4 years ago that I had enough and wanted to stop drinking. I was getting nothing positive from drugs and alcohol and I knew it, but my problem was I didn’t know how to quit. I think to most that sounds absurd but to my mind I didn’t know. I’d later find out all I needed to do was get off my ass and go to a meeting and talk to someone. I also knew I would need a medical detox but again how does that work? Just go to the ER, since I had not regular doctor, and say I need help. How does that factor into time away from work? I thought of all this as I laid in bed with shakes/tremors very similar to Leaving Las Vegas because I had been on more of bender than usual and had been about 7 hours without a drink. I reluctantly grabbed the vodka bottle because I knew it would stop the pain I was in and I didn’t want to call 911 and I didn’t want to die, so easiest path. Well I say I didn’t want to die but, in my mind, I think I was ok I was ok if that happened. Looking back on it I was doing very little to ensure my life continued on in general. Over that year I would have swings where I thought I was ok. I would have “good” days but in my sick and insane mind when I would have those days I would think I was the exception and I had figured out how to live as a severe alcoholic. I was not suffering obvious health concerns (I had gotten used to the tremors and anxiety as normal), work wasn’t an issue, and somehow, I had avoided any legal issues. I’m single so no family pressure so in my mind the life I was living was just me and working out. Something else I realized after I got sober was that it took me a lot of work when I was in my disease. A lot of work to make sure I put on my best face to not be found out and to fake “normal” activities to give the illusion I wasn’t a shut in. Plus, the constant worry of is today the day this flimsy ass house of cards I have chosen to live in finally crumbles down on me? I’m forever grateful to my mother for noticing it and ultimately pushing me to rehab. She saved my life. It was a few days before I surrendered that I took a weekend road trip to put on the appearance that I wasn’t a shut in and perhaps make myself feel that way. I would do that from time to time and all I’d do is drive somewhere, couldn’t trust flying because I didn’t want to get stuck on a plane without booze. But when I got to my location I would just lay there and get drunk but at least I wasn’t at home, right? Anyway, this time I took a nasty fall in public and didn’t have the strength to get myself back up. A very kind stranger came by and helped me across the street to the hotel and the staff there called 911 which I hid in my room from because I was sure it was jail. I did have to go the hospital later in the evening, after the scene in the lobby settled down, for a nasty cut on my elbow that wouldn’t stop bleeding. I knew then it was over. I called my mother and she came and got me and drove me home and pushed rehab on me the whole way. A few days later I surrendered and went to rehab. When I made the decision and said yes and realized it was really happening a sense of calm took me over, a high like I hadn’t felt in a long time, my fight with this was coming to an end. When I got there, I got a breathalyzer and blew a .349 and they called the ambulance and straight to the hospital where I then spent 6 days in ICU just to detox. They gave me only a 60% chance of surviving detox. Now here I sit 3 years later with a life like I never thought possible. I share this because I personally find strength when I hear others stories. I also share this because I see people in here say they are struggling and not sure what to do or those that have family and friends where they are seeking guidance. Just go to a meeting and talk to someone, they are willing to help. Don’t make it complicated like I did, it almost cost me my life. Plus, I also share a reminder to myself how low in life I was and that if I was to go back out I know right where I’d pick up at. Thanks for reading, listening and your sharing. It’s a great day to be sober!

    Snowfall

The relationship between the club owner and her was a big throw back to season one, I don't recall much of her in season two. I remember them hooking up but I forget if the club owner had any dirt on her to justify her possibly murdering her. At least it seemed she was going to jab that heroine in her to kill her. I thought it was good but it seems they all made such a dramatic shift to hard core gangsters. Point when they just shoot the two guys who were trying to rob them.
  15. Wow, only one segment into it and Dave Raymond is not doing well here as the fill in.

The smoker has been under construction for some time now, I haven't been by in a few weeks but I thought it would never open. I'll give it a go. Oh and @threesheets the name of one of the owners sound familiar, is that a former classmate of ours?

I had a Heim Burger yesterday and it was wonderful. Highly recommend if you find yourself on that side of town.

  19. I had some and they offered me about 50% off if I could pay all at once but I was in no position to at the time. But after I got to a position to where I was able to after a few payments then I called and asked what they would settle for then and got about 30% off.
  20. They have proven such a safe harbor for personal data why not have users financial data as well.
  21. I often wondered why others had a hangover and I never did and it was because I never let it stop, as others have mentioned. What I didn't realize, till I got sober for about 15 days, was I just got used to feeling like shit all the time. Like just taking some Advil several times a day for a painful back I just drank early and often for my hangover and thought "well this is just the way I am, nothing I can do about it". A few weeks back I had a bad stomach virus and for about 36 hours it felt like a terrible hangover, basically the same thing dehydrated, headache and couldn't eat. And that was a perfect reminder of what will happen now if I was to take a drink. It was miserable.
  22. I cleared day 1,000 on the sober ride at midnight last night and that is a hell of a milestone for me to think about. I remember thinking 5 days was amazing and to now think it's a grand is mind boggling to me. That's a lot of damn days, but now just shuffle my way thru this one.
  23. My thoughts exactly, it had up and down moments I thought but it was a good watch.

    Dallas | Burgers

Heim BBQ now has them a burger. Yes it's in FW and a BBQ joint but I put it in Dallas burgers. Get over it. This isn’t your standard burger. It’s a barbecue burger through and through, but the burger isn’t smoked. It starts with smoked brisket that’s chopped fine and mixed with raw ground beef from 44 Farms. There’s about twice as much ground beef as brisket in there, but you’ll taste the smoke—although it might be coming from the most glorious burger condiment yet concocted: The Heim bacon burnt end jam.
