  8. What Clinton did with Monica wasn’t criminal. Pedophilia is. (I say that with full knowledge there is a good chance Bill went to Epstein Island and very easily could’ve fucked underage girls there.)
  9. My folks are in Kauai. They were headed to a boat excursion but it was cancelled and they all evacuated back to the hotel in Poipu. They’re safely in their 5th floor room. Said they were moving guests from the first three floors up higher.

  12. There's Something About Mary, Kingpin and the Austin Powers movies in the 90's. Let's be honest here. I loved Adam Sandler on SNL. He was one of my favorites for the group immediately following what was (for me anyways) the greatest SNL group of all time (Hartman, Lovitz, Carvey, Miller, Nealon, Hooks, etc). I think the writing was better and the show had really found its legs. (But, yes, it's hard to argue they were better than Chevy, Murray, Belushi, etc.) Mike Myers came in and then Sandler/Spade and that led into Will Ferrell and so on. Billy Madison and Happy Gilmore were awesome for somebody who was in college at the time like I was. But we're not exactly talking about transcendent movie comedies. Neither belongs on a list of all-time great comedy movies but they were right place, right time for a big chunk of us who were in Sandler's wheelhouse demographic when they came out. I doubt there are many people born outside say 1968-1978 who are remotely familiar with "Like I got no fucking fingers" or "You button-hooked me" or "Tollbooth Willy" or "At A Medium Pace" or any of the other stuff from Sandman's first comedy album. I just don't know if HG or Billy Madison really stand the test of time. They're great for that group of us who loved them when we were 20 or so. For me, Happy Gilmore 2 was an enjoyable, somewhat nostalgic two hours. It doesn't mean it was a very good movie.

  14. He wouldn't be. Fuck Lindsay for many reasons but if Trump goes away and MAGA wanes -- yes, yes, I know -- then Lindsay can potentially get back to being not entirely insane Republican from a state that is going to send Republicans to DC as senators. This guy will be 100% on board the fascist crazy train.
  15. There's no chance that Blanche told her and her attorneys how to go about getting Ghislaine freed in their meetings last week, right?

  17. Choosing to give Clay Travis clicks is definitely a choice.
  18. That was a good bit and Zalatoris embraced the comparison but I've always thought he's more Beavis than HG caddie. Interesting that they used Dechambeau and Koepka to play on the "good guys" side too. My wife and I were lounging by the pool on Saturday and we didn't have plans for later. She said, "We can watch Happy Gilmore 2" tonight and I said, sure. (We have a friend who was drunk texting us about it on Friday.) After cleaning the kitchen, we fired it up. About 30 mins in, I asked her if she'd seen HG1. She laughed and said, "Nope." We laughed and laughed and laughed. Now it's on the list before it leaves Netflix on 7/31. (Not sure I have the DVD/BR for that one. That was back in the VHS days.) At any rate, it was an easy way to kill two hours. Using the actual footage from HG1 for the callback jokes was probably unnecessary. I've been a Sandler fan since his SNL days and he seems like a really great dude in real life but he's definitely lost his fastball. If the original HG is an 8 or 9, this is a 6 at best. I laughed at points. The comparison to Caddyshack 2 is legit -- the mini-golf themed Bushwood vs the tricked-up LIV-style Maxi Tour was kinda similar.
  19. Of course he did.
