  1. So how did he come down on the 2nd Amendment, where the types of weapons that are available today were not yet conceived of back in those days? WHy are they legal by default? And why is he ok with ignoring the words "well regulated" in that amendment but needs to parse every other word in the document? Could it be that he's proof texting, just bending the words to mean what he wants them to mean and ignoring the rest, kind of like most Christian Americans do the Bible? Nah, that couldn't be it.
  2. God fucking dammit.
  3. It worked for them because they can force every member of their caucus to vote the way they want them to vote. Dems don't seem to hold that power over their reps. And honestly I'm happy the Dems can't wield that power. I'd rather figure out how to make sure the Reps can't wield that power than I would have the Dems go down the same path.
  4. You and I both know that if Congress were filled with reasonable people, he would've been investigated and impeached and convicted over the Mueller report, so the insurrection never would've happened nor would the second impeachment. But supposing for a second that he did skate on those charges somehow, the second impeachment trial would've been unanimous. Every Republican in Congress knew it was wrong the day it was happening when they were cowering in fear. They knew it was wrong when they finished their job that night. They knew it was wrong the next couple days after that. They just reminded that they needed to forget it was wrong to stay in power, so they did. That's nothing to do with justice. It's to do with the fact that he's a rich white man with power. You or I would already be in jail if we were out there doing the shit he's been doing. I'm not going to sit here and argue about it, though since I'm stuck in my office for a couple more days I guess I have the time to, but he hasn't gone to jail yet because the people who could send him to jail are afraid to take away the power of a rich white man. The good thing about Trump is that I think I always thought at some level that the system was rigged against non-white people especially but also against non-rich people, but seeing how blatantly he goes around committing fraud and breaking the law and still walk free really put a pin on how much systemic injustice is really built into our system. It's disgusting, and it's another in a growing list of reasons that I better understand Michelle Obama's speech every day. I'm looking forward to the day when I can be proud to be an American again.
  5. So, I tested positive 2 days ago. Felt better yesterday, feel basically back to normal today. I'm locked up in my office and my husband has the run of the house, and he's also sick with a sore throat and cough and achiness, but he has tested COVID negative for 3 days in a row now. How much longer do I need to stay sequestered before I start burning tests looking for a negative?
  6. And if that was in there, he'd ask for another amendment that we have to mark every dollar with a red x or some other nonsense. His job here isn't to make sure we pass bills responsibly, it's to gum up the works and ensure that nothing happens for as long as he can. We can see this based on his long history of doing this exact same type of thing, and then voting against the bill anyway even after his demands are met. If you don't take history into account when justifying his actions, you are only going to make yourself look foolish.
  7. If it wasn't for that pesky cloud, I could've gotten away with it!
  8. Everytime I see this GIF I simultaneously laugh because it's objectively funny, especially when the banner comes down before he hits the button, but it also angers me because it's been true so many times and has not mattered even a little bit. Fuck.
  9. I did not know I was about to get new Selena music, +rep for dropping this here!!!!
  10. But there are no more steakhouse windows he can climb out of when he decides he wants to quit shilling for them.
  11. I mean, how do these people expect to be taken seriously by anyone but the dumbest among us when they are just so outlandishly lying about what's going on out here in reality?
  12. I don't know how good Ted Lieu is as a rep, but he's fantastic at the twitters.
  13. It seems like Republicans are doing their best to make sure that corporations quit spreading money around pretty much equally and start giving most of their campaign donations to Democrats. It's a bold strategy.
  14. Hmm, this has not been my experience at all. I mean the ego thing I get, but otherwise, I must vehemently disagree!
  15. I'm late to seeing this video. Had only been able to see the blurred versions before today. What I'm trying to figure out is, is he wearing a tail butt plug? I've never seen an ass that hairy before. Something weird is going on.
  16. Well, with those last 2 words you brought him right back into range of being perfectly qualified to be an elected GOP official.
  17. The problem is that the people in power by and large know that they are vengeful, so they assume everyone else is as well. And some will be, but I hold out hope that you are right, and most won't be when they get power.
  18. I have tested every time I've come home from a work trip since the pandemic started. Always tested negative, including on Friday. I had a little bit of a cough when I got home plus a runny nose, and honestly wouldn't have thought to test again, assuming I had a cold, if we weren't going on vacation next week. So I decided to test again just to make sure I'm doing all the shit I can do to make sure I'm negative by next week. I did feel a little extra tightness in my chest this morning which helped make the decision for me. As an asthmatic, it's alarming to be getting chest tightness when you don't have at least some idea where it's coming from, but I still most likely wouldn't have tested if we weren't trying to get out of town next week, though. Also, feel more sure that I did get COVID in the first wave right when lockdowns were starting. Cough, runny nose, chest tightness for a couple days after a work trip to New Orleans. There weren't any tests then for me to find out for sure, but if this goes the way it did then, I should be back to 100% in the next couple days.
  19. Oh and by the way, to be serious here for a second. Let's look 10 years down the road, shall we? 1. Because of Roe being overturned, contraceptives have been outlawed 2. And because of shit laws like they passed in Florida, gay kids are once again ostracized to the point that they will hide their sexuality until later in life. That's going to have a 2 fold negative effect on life for EVERYONE. #1, more gay kids are going to end up fathers (or mothers) before they figure things out, which will wreak havoc on those gay kids and their whole fucking families in a way that coming out never can. And of course, let's not forget #2. We are voluntarily giving up one of the best tools for fighting STI's while at the same time pushing people into closets where they are MORE likely to partake in risky sex anyway, and guess what is going to come back with a vengeance? If you guessed HIV rates to skyrocket, you are a winner! Fucking A this is depressing.
  20. Yeah, I've been posting on these boards for a long fucking time. I have argued with a lot of you for 20+ years now. Most of you disagreed with me about gay marriage back when I first started posting about it on Hornfans. Y'all are still the same people, you were just presented with evidence that your opinions were incorrect and you corrected them, much as I have done on many topics over the years from listening to you imbeciles. The difference between those of you that are still around, and people like Ag with Kids, who used to be a great poster, is that he didn't let facts get in the way of his opinions. All those so-called conservative posters that went away did so because they knew they were wrong, they knew they couldn't win the arguments they were making intellectually anymore, and they didn't want to be reminded of that fact. All the rest of us have gone on being fiscally conservative, we've gone on being for personal liberty, and we've realized that we can't be Republicans if we believe in those concepts, because Republicans do not believe in those ideals, despite the fact that they don't ever stop yelling about how much they believe in them. I feel sorry for people like Ag with Kids who couldn't use the brain God gave him to look at reality and adjust to it. It must be a really shitty world where you have to spend so much of your time trying to fake reality to match your beliefs. I'm sorry for your loss, Ag with Kids. And to prove that I have also changed my opinion on things based on what I've read here, you have proved to me that there is an exception to every rule. I no longer think OU grads are 100% sister fuckers. Now I'm only certain that 99.9% of them are.
  21. So I officially tested positive today as well. 4 weeks of work travel did me in finally, I guess.
  22. Quid pro quo retaliation is illegal when people do it in the workplace. Why isn't it illegal when politicians do it?
  23. Well Biden's statement was stupid, I agree, but not for why you thought it was. Either, the person coming at the police has no arms, and therefore couldn't be carrying a knife, or, the person is carrying a knife, and therefore couldn't be unarmed. Aslo, I don't think anyone is too concerned when they hear that someone shot a person who was in the act of attempting to attack the shooter with a knife. As long as the video evidence supports it, of course.
  24. He's been slurping that cock like a pro for awhile now so I think he lived up to his promise.
