  1. I am a sleep apnea guy, tried three or so masks, never worked. Brand new to the IF. first day- didn't finish eating lunch until almost 2:00 p.m. Ate a big thick NY strip. Yesterday, a more normal lunch - just two cheeseburgers-with turkey breast on the burger - wheat bread- and frozen veggies on the side. finished eating about 1:00 p.m. Today, finished eating at 12:30 - - breakfast - unusual - I made quesadillas - ground beef, eggs and cheese. Was full after only 2 quesadillas- impressive considering I had gone about 17 hours without food. Coffee - black - was good! Saved the last quesadilla- ate it before lunch, then lunch turned into just a casserole - what was left from the frozen veggies, add in a can of green beans, mushroom soup, cheese and french's onions. Pork chops are marinating for tomorrow's lunch - soy sauce and italian dressing. Sleep - last night I thought I slept, but the daytime sleepiness still gets me. I wish I could sleep just one more hour. Usually wake up at 5:00 a.m. disappointing but I am convinced apnea will never actually end unless I drop about 30 + more pounds. So, this time I am looking at fasting about 17.5 hours. The IF youtube video lady was pretty good. She suggested her patients start with 12 hours then bump up to 13 etc. The only time I can remember my stomach growling the last two days was when I was in bed - early morning hours. Weight loss since May 23 - 4+ Will add in some planks maybe tomorrow. Sounds minimal, but in the fall when I was losing weight I was doing 2 minute planks three times a day and felt sharper. All I do now is take long walks with the dogs. Usually get plenty of steps.
  2. Yeah, and that's why I said he could have told supt there would be some heat. The person who underestimated the heat would be supt. Briles knew there would be some heat, so he didn’t show up for announcement. This is a big game of testing the waters to see how hot the water is. The water might be too hot for both the supt and the school board.
  3. And that is a future starting NFL player Earl carried 5 yards.
  4. Just to continue the thought, since Briles has been out of the country, he wouldn’t have as much awareness of the possible social media backlash, but he could have easily warned the supt there would be some heat, and told him he would do the job, but will not take the heat. Supt agreed to take the heat guessing the heat would only last about 24 hours. Seems to me the heat might still be building, and we’re four days in.
  5. Wait a minute. If this was a real hire, wouldn’t Briles be there to answer questions and be there to take some of the heat. Something smells, like maybe Briles convinced the supt. to try it and if not too many people complain then Briles would move to Texas and actually take the job. I am starting to think this won’t happen.
  6. N b4 classics and a thought. What If every school that played them only brought student organizations that were only boys? Would MTV care about loss of revenue? if u are a parent of a girl cheerleader, do u want her to go? Also, I wonder how much they are paying AB?
  7. Easy. You follow her advice when she texts an article "10 easy steps to becoming a teacher in Alaska", you sell your house in Texas, move to the bush of Alaska where there is no fast food, car traffic, grocery stores, stores of any kind except for a general store that has obscene prices and little selection and then you propose staying in Alaska for the summer with the two dogs, so she can go back to Texas and visit her two sisters. In the village where I live, there is also remarkably good air, and very clean water. There is also an apartment that is subsidized rent, as in $810 per month for a two bedroom apartment, and no utilities charged. I walk 30 yards to school. Incredible value for this item, coming from a guy whose shortest commute was 28 miles in DFW. On the negative there is an obscene charge for internet, $300 plus a month. But there is free internet at the school. Since there is free internet at school I reduced our home internet for the summer down to only 40 whatever those things are called, mgs? and the rate is half the normal charge. Been married 25 years and she was incredibly hot in her day. Teacher salary has been the primary breadwinner salary since 2001. I am so happy here I paid for her trip from Texas back to Anchorage this summer with miles from the Alaskaair mileage plan and she will travel First Class!!! We are having a weight loss contest for the summer. I intend to obliterate her. I better. She has access to fast food and I don't. I plan to celebrate by enjoying some smoked brisket from Texas. Her brother-in-law competes in brisket contests and I told her to get him to smoke two briskets and for her to freeze them and bring them to Alaska.
  8. new to intermittent fasting. Somehow it popped up on youtube. Some people say skip breakfast. I like breakfast and have 80 days of not having to be anywhere - teacher in Alaska. I also have limited access to fresh veggies. I have stocked up on various proteins, so my freezer right now has at least 5 steaks, 3 roast beefs, two pork loins, a few chicken breasts, some ground turkey, ground beef, plenty of Alaska fish, etc. Good news is there is no fast food where I live. I was already on the way down - weight wise, when I moved here in August. High weight was probably 260ish in summer of 18. November- hit my low 222. Now as of a few days ago, back up to 234. The wife cooks better than I do. The wife is spending the summer in Texas, so I have complete control of what/when I eat. Since I like breakfast, gonna try intermittent fasting by skipping dinner. Nice, decent breakfast - hot cereal-add in a little honey. then eat a GOOD lunch- finish around 1 or 2. Eat breakfast around 6:30 a.m. I have apple cider vinegar. Will drink water with apple cider vinegar like it is going out of style. Water here is GOOD! That gives me 16.5 hours without food. I think I have protein powder as well. Any advice? Wish me luck.
  9. My wife flew on a regional carrier yesterday to the big city of Anchorage. Plane she would fly on from dillingham to Anchorage was late arriving from Anchorage because Air Force one stopped in Anchorage to refuel. Regional carrier told me and I confirmed with a news article. My thought is that delay should have meant all flights all day should have the same delay. She was in danger of missing her connected flight from Anchorage to Seattle and then to dfw. So I called the big carrier Alaska airlines to find out how long they would hold the plane in Anchorage. Interesting response, they claimed the refuel delay should only account for 5 minutes. iOw they weren’t too interested in holding the plane. Wife just barely missed the connection, and the plane was still on the tarmac. Coincidentally, that plane that would fly from Anchorage to Seattle was 30 minutes late arriving to Anchorage, which is why it was still on the tarmac. Only reason I know this is because of flight aware. Bottom line 6 people total missed connecting flight to Seattle Couple of questions Why would one company be frank about the delay and the other one not? Anybody else heard of a flight delay because of Air Force one?
  10. Grandmas make the best. My grandma made some incredible pancakes on a cast iron pan because she Threw in an occasional fried egg. Bacon mingled with the syrup. And my first exposure to coffee cocoa. Plain coffee and mix in some instant cocoa. This was on a farm, so sometimes the eggs were fresh. Wow!
  11. Ah yes, nighthawk. Old uncle loved to take me to the one on 290, probably 20 to 30 years ago. That and Lubys 290 were his favs. At nighthawk, He loved to buy the off the menu item, Frisco burger, and catfish. Fun story he always told. He saved a woman’s life one time at nighthawk. She was choking and he did Heimlich on her.
  12. If you like Dailey, you’re gonna really be impressed with Pearsall.
  13. yes, time of year matters. I was in Anchorage in late February and it was about 5 degrees. Too cold for me to be outside. From about now to about end of September the temp is absolutely wonderful.
  14. And you can get all of the above if you visit Anchorage Alaska. Plenty to do outside, and a pretty good downtown.
  15. Cy young nolan ryan J,. R. Richard roger clemens ....and for the college feel, I watched in person, a guy with a rubber arm in Austin, 6 team regional I think... U of Houston, want to say his name was Coker, probably late 80s, was an absolute dog with a bone. Heart 10 times your average major leaguer.....Larry Coker.? i think he pitched about 20 innings that weekend.... don’t think I am exaggerating. As an alternate, that little left handed junk ball pitcher from Pepperdine who shut us down about the same year. We didn’t come close to that guy.
  16. Obligatory in before classics, and I loved page 99, popcorn, subscribed, etc. The truth of the matter is some of us olds actually saw the best basketball coach in Texas history, Abe. Even though Abe’s personality dominated the program, he actually excelled in two other facets, recruiting and development. His teams could play fast high scoring, or slow low scoring. Look it up, the 14-0 horns before Wacker injury beat 2 top 10 teams by an average of about 14 points. The team was on its way to the final four. national players of the year?nope.....one legit. All American, lasalle and one legit. 1st team all conference, Wacker. Desire, heart, chemistry, and coaching. And talk about playing loose. Your team reflects your coaches personality. It is very possible that team would have played The loosest of the final 4 teams had Waco not happened, and we would have been in the championship game.
  17. Fall of 93 I walked into North Star Mall, found an independent jewelry place, got a cash discount, and wrote a big check, almost 2k, about one month of income. Took her camping to propose, she didn’t have a clue. Still with her 25 years later. Could have spent more or less, it’s whatever you’re comfortable spending. No way was I going anywhere near the 3 months idea. I planned much of our wedding. Since I had been in National Guard, we got married in chapel at Mabry, prob 75$. She was very frugal on her dress, spent 200 or 300. The only expensive item I remember were the pictures, about 1k. We did spend some money on honeymoon, Disney world. Fun!
  18. I think I am headed for audit. I do taxes the old, old way. I calculate math using calculator.com as I read through the 1040. Normally takes me about 1 hour for entire process, including printing forms from internet. The govt jacked with the forms so much it took 5 hours. I kept going over the AOTC, because it seemed too good to be true. Ended up with the 500 $ credit for college son and the max. AOTC, 2500 $. Total credits, a record 5000$. This was the last year for mortgage credit certificate, sold home. Mailed return, also something very few people do. Refund allegedly due in May.
  19. Why CBS keeps showing Adam Scott putting I will never know. He misses every one! Show somebody else.
  20. Been watching championship basketball on tube since 1978... Duke vs Kentucky I think. Keep expecting tech to fold....intangibles.....refs whatever....not going to happen....they simply play too well defensively....31% shooting today by state. unless refs intervene this tech group wins Mon night. Congrats to Tech. This is as close as we are going to get to a NC, unless/until we get our version of Beard. Speaking of refs, fouls today 18 against tech 13 against state until state had to foul at end of game. Pretty sizable discrepancy, imo.
  21. My favorite is "You scored one point more than a dead man".
  22. Good piece. Abe’s personality overshadowed his b-ball genius, the matchup zone. Imo, the most underrated part of his coaching talent was recruiting. LaSalle Thompson and Wacker on the same team, at Texas? Maybe at a basketball school, but not here. Without the Waco disaster, who knows how far that team would have gone?
  23. look at the facts. Who holds the record for the highest blown save in NCAA men's history? Rick Barnes. It would be one thing if this was a first time occurence. Another poster recalled that Rick did this before, while at Texas. You don't have to agree with me. Just look at the facts.
