  1. Wtf? I never felt sorry for coaches and players before..picture the 30 something year old asst. who has to coach under this scheme. He’s already suggested a different approach....now his family, even the wife can see his 80 hours a week is leading straight to unemployment line....and the players....their peers at other schools are given a chance.... where is Austin media? Hold arrogant Tom accountable. Show this to him.... You can’t spell arrogant without t o
  2. Looks to me we drop 2 spots and both SMU and Baylor pass us. aggy moves back to 25, swapping places with mizzou, cuz SEC.
  3. Chizik turned around unc 2 years ago, it appears.
  4. KU comes out like a ball of fire and leads. At some point all of our defenders remember how to tackle, and we win by 10 points or less.
  5. This right here. I see OU losing two games! But I also see us losing two games, so I don't know who is in Arlington.
  6. I understand our D is ranked number 128. So, it will finish number 100-110 ish, if we're lucky. Doesn't Tom have to sit down with CDC and evaluate coaches at the end of the season? How does he justify keeping the architect of number 100 ish?
  7. I am pretty good at sending FOIA requests. It would be interesting to see how long they take to respond. I also wonder if any legit. reporter asked anybody else other than the cheating head coach to back up his non-a/c complaints? I guess a bigger question will be this: Will LSU pull the cramping strategy again this year?
  8. WiFi pretty limited. Sometimes it feels almost like dialup. School has no landline and internet since power went out Sunday am. When power came back, no landline or internet. Convinced main office we need internet and landline because of summer school next week. Alexa is dying, a slow death now.
  9. Highlights: wild bald eagle flew right over top of me and landed in nearby tree. moose came to school. I walked out the back door of school, 1 o’clock am, and there she was mama and offspring. Mama was lean, like a horse. Both galloped off quickly. saw 2 red foxes in broad daylight. Went all summer without placing grocery order. the one food I miss, Texas brisket, has been smoked by a competition brisket smoker, my brother in law, and will arrive with the wife August 2. Still have several steaks, couple of pork loins, etc. in freezer. Set local record for steps in one day, almost 56000, on June 21. Dogs set their record for walks on June 21, 4. The old girl is really good at giving me look that says no more. Was driving in village today, and little dog ran under truck while stopped. Had to get out and yell at dog to get out from under truck. 4:37 pm, 60 degrees, sunny, low tonight 47.
  10. holy cow! Living in Alaska helps right now. I don't even go to bed, the final round starts in 8 minutes, at 10:32 p.m. local time. I get to stay up and watch the final round and it will be over by about 7 a.m. or so, Alaska time.
  11. One thing that I have noticed just over the past few years, is that when the offense is in a hurry-up and they hurry to the line and then stop what they are doing, and it seems over half the team looks at the coaches, thus killing all momentum. This is on the coaches, not the players. I would threaten my OC's life with this: don't ever do that hurry up and stop stuff. Either keep hurrying up all of the time, or go into a huddle and that way the defense will not know what formation you are in. Only other thing that gets me is from forever ago. Coming out of a time out and having a delay of game penalty. Used to happen a generation or more ago. Think Fred Akers.
  12. Coaching lost the game, but saying no Colt makes no difference in the outcome ignores the whole season. Without Colt, the team loses probably 4 games and Mack’s decline starts one year sooner. I watched every snap I think, and I believe Colt to be the MVP for any Texas season since Earl. Look at 2005. Without VY the team loses maybe 2 games, because there were so many great players on the team. 1977... without Earl, team loses 4 games. With Earl, Texas played at least 5 qbs that year....Jon, Mark, Sam, Randy, Ricky. 4 qbs started games, I think....Mark, Jon, Randy, Sam.
  13. 39, 31, 57, 24, 34, 27, 32, 33, 31 points. By my rough guess, squints could have easily attempted 8 passes per game, which would have been enough ....72 attempts...so receivers would have been familiar with his delivery and ball speed.
  14. A few points. 1. I thought Suh won the heisman the day he nearly killed Colt and the entire line. 2. Behind 3 six minutes to go.......should have been ahead.....WR drop in end zone... 3. The final, real reason we lost... GD and Mack refusing to let squints throw the ball in mop up duty throughout the season. dumbest Qb decision in Texas football history since starting Mcivor on January 1, 1984.......both awful decisions cost national championships.
  15. I didn't know I could feel any more resentment towards Mack. Ironically, it appears the mystery regent is more at fault than Mack for ruining Saban's chances after Mack. What kind of regent leaks that info?
  16. If we are indeed on a path to eliminate Robin Hood, then I think there would be another lawsuit by a district that was used to getting Robin Hood money and the courts could rule to force the legislature to put in more money. I for one would like to see education funded at a certain % by state funds. The past few legislatures let the state % get far too low, imo. Btw, the real impact of compression seems to be that districts will simply get creative and move the spending from M and O money to bond money, because districts are allowed to have a bond rate of 50 cents. The only districts that will not try that are the high growth districts who are already at 50 cents for bond money.
  17. Am approaching 30 days since weigh in with the wife,[may 23)will post comprehensive recap on Sunday/Monday. For now, it appears I’m on fire. Now down 13.4 pounds, and doing a bit of experimenting here and there. Last night during fasting time I drank 3 cokes, thinking it might trigger weight gain. Nope, just slowed the weight loss. I am literally losing at least 0.2 pounds every day, it seems. that is without getting the fiber back in the diet. Ran out of fiber couple of weeks ago, finally arrived and will hit it tomorrow. Not exactly on pace to lose 15 pounds by June 23, but the big event is tomorrow’s record setting attempt for steps in one day. Weather is to be 65 degrees and partly sunny according to Alexa, which should encourage me to be outside most of the day. Assuming I hit 15 pounds loss on Sunday, will only have about five to go to get to ‘overweight’ instead of obese. Then the next goal is under 200, which I might have been at sometime in the 90s.
  18. Great language. I like best “I will remember .....” should be interesting to see what happens.
  19. love the Fitzgerald catch and remainder of series of course. Just watched the series again and still maintain, as many others probably, that 4th and inches should have never happened. Texas RB landed one foot north of 30 yard line. First down marker was on 29 yard line. Refs moved the ball back to the 29 yard line and then did not square the ball up, as in the ball appears to be pointed at an angle so that the ball is not pointed towards the goal line. Bottom line, the refs. did everything they could to help 'huskers on this drive, moving the ball four feet back - so James Brown and Steelers Roll left is Texas history. How awesome is that fourth down call? Call of the year in all of football that year and is probably call #3 in Texas football history, behind Fourth down in Arkansas in 1969 and Fourth and Five the National Championship is on the line, 2006. Btw, that is the only thing I like about the Steelers. It is amazing Mackovic spoiled all of the goodwill he earned on this December day. That would be really cool to hear an interview with John and the team, looking back on this game, as the 25th anniversary of this gem is coming in the next couple of years. I would love to hear from Lewis, Fitzgerald, Ricky, Priest, James....wow, that would be fun to hear their memories.
  20. Don't remember when, but Madden had a good line in his heyday, about one Glenn Titensor, of the Dallas Cowboys. "Titensor, now that's a great name for a football player in training camp. You're always tight and sore. ...." Cant' make it up. For Longhorns, how about the best jumper ever, Johnny Walker. Wow! Talk about superman, flying through the air! Could get the ball on the 2, and take the flying leap and land in the end zone like it was nothing. I am pretty sure Walker was the Killeen or Temple running back that played against my alma mater Round Rock. At R. Rock, we were new to the top division. Our team was used to playing against the Taylor Ducks of the world. The marching band was new to riding in style to football games, and I was a freshman. I was in heaven, riding in the nice greyhound bus, etc. I corrected predicted before the game that I would consider it a victory if we scored. Walker rushed for 100 yards in the first quarter, could have easily gotten 400 against our team and we did in fact score against their 2nd or 3rd team late in the game. I think the final was 48-6, and it wasn't that close. Could have been about 100 to 0 if the opposing coach desired. That might have been the year McQueen coached the team to a state title. McQueen was Temple, so I am not sure if I have the correct team, but both Killeen and Temple were dominant at the time.
  21. probably not gonna happen, but I think every visiting team should make it known they are not bringing any visiting student groups that have girls to the games. And for the Sooner in Mt. Vernon, we know all about Sooners and their questionable ethics. Does he think he is impressing people by thinking the entire Mt. Vernon ISD should lower itself to the Sooner level of morality? Never visited Mt. Vernon, and will probably never go. I want to see what a year of Art Briles will do to this community. Do decision-makers in Mt. Vernon really think this is going away quickly and quietly? I don't think so, but what do I know? Get your popcorn ready, folks. This ought to be good.
  22. More nostalgia than anything, teenagers learning to drive, we drove from round rock to Elgin, via the back roads, included the fm roads from 79 to the road that coupland is located on. Drove through Norman’s crossing and rices crossing, which included the cemetery with the lawn chairs in middle of cemetery. Challenge was to navigate the super winding fm roads without applying brakes. The roads have since been straightened quite a bit. Visited relatives in Elgin and occasionally picked up some hot guts from southside market, when the old building was located near the railroad tracks. It really was a serious driving challenge. Quite disappointing when road got straightened.
