  1. Just looked at total def. yards allowed. We’re improving a bunch, to 100, allowing less than 450 per game. If we matched yards given up last year, 393, we would be ranked 60. Are we just a dc away from decent, or a whole staff away from decent? With the proper coaching are these athletes good enough to get us in the top 40.? With a top 40 d, I think it’s pretty safe to say we have one or 0 losses. One loss puts us where cdc claims he expects us to be, top 10.
  2. I agree with this. The thing about the Iowa state game was I think sooners were totally surprised, but I think the refs stopped the game, after the TD, to give OU time to recover, and take a breath. OUs defense had been on the field quite a bit. I think the interception thrown by OU was done pretty early in the drive. If the refs had not stopped the game, would OU coach have been smart enough to call timeout to give his team time to recover? I especially like the part about telling the offense you have confidence they will get the two yards. As the underdog, I think the object should be to end the game in regulation. Why give the favorite another chance with the game tied? Make them uncomfortable.
  3. Maybe he had to make an unexpected long, trip to the bathroom, and by the time he came out the new man calling the plays had the d working well, so he kept it going. I guess we’ll find out Saturday.
  4. I think the biggest question for Saturday is which way do the refs roll? Baylor vs. ou. Only 2 spots apart in the polls. The refs could easily decide the game.
  5. Ok. Here is the fun scenario. Bama loses to auburn, they both have 2 losses, so they’re both out. LSU loses to Georgia in sec champ. Game, kind of a sloppy game by both teams. One of those teams is in, right? But meanwhile Minnesota, Baylor, and Clemson go undefeated and look really good. Who gets in, OSU, who lost to Minnesota, or LSU, who lost to a big underdog Georgia. the answer is LSU, cuz they played a tougher schedule, braved the 120 degree locker room in Austin, and they had the heat cramps to prove it. Yes!
  6. Ok.cool. Here is a fun scenario. Minnesota goes 13 and 0, beating OSU in big 10 title game by less than a td, putting both big 10 teams in the four, along with the two unbeaten, Clemson and LSU. Let’s see the sec apologists go crazy then.
  7. If Baylor goes 13 and 0, they’re not playing bama, cuz that record would put Baylor at the number 4 slot and they would play either LSU or OSU.
  8. Cotton bowl has no conference tie ins. We should play there against SMU! No d, all day, basketball score.
  9. If we had kicked ball out of bounds, could receiving team decline to take the ball at the 35 and make us rekick?
  10. I don’t think we’re going to find out about ou, because they will lose a game, maybe to the mullet man.
  11. Gundy has more wins than we do this decade, probably not close. He might have a winning record against us as well.
  12. I say we’re one third and Orlando play. From losing the Iowa state game. 35 to 42.
  13. If bama has a chance I look for them to run up the score against Auburn. Must feel strange for them, looking like they might be rated 5th come Tuesday.
  14. Wow.. I was thinking the line would take all week to move 2 points, and it’s just about there. Any experts think the line will go down to 0? What’s the largest line movement ?
  15. Am a bandwagon fan now to try to keep sec to one team. Any chance of a blowout victory to go 10 and 0? Margin of victory will count vs. the bama boosters.
  16. Only committee members directly involved with sec are rc slocum and the ad from Florida.
  17. I just looked and under Tom, we’ve only lost by more than 7 2 times, once to TCu and once to ou. This line is gonna move quickly, IMO. Probably finish up at about us plus 5. As close as a sure thing as there is, I think.
  18. We lose by less than 7. We never lose by more than 7 with Tom. I think.
  19. Maybe arky wants an up and coming defensive mind, who employs innovative techniques and schemes. TO is available. one can dream
  20. Looking at teams ranked around us, I would like to see bowl game against SMU. No d, all day, except Dicker could set a bowl record for most onside kicks in a game. 1400 yards plus offense.
  21. I lean more toward the fraud department. It’s one thing to do easy stuff like let the students in the baseball game free, which was great pr for the athletic department, but here is what will probably happen: 1. We finish 8 and 4 plus another last minute bowl win. Final ranking of 15 to 20. 2. Majority of the conference folds in bowl games. Tom meets cdc, uses injury excuse, our final ranking is 3rd in conference and claims no staff changes needed. Cdc counters with you’ve got to give me somebody, so I can say we’re making changes, so Tom offers some no name assistant. Hopefully no extension for Tom, and cdc tells Tom he must see improvement on defense in 20, or TO is gone after 20. I think some variation of that scenario will happen unless one of two events happens. Either we win four games in a row or lose four in a row. We still have TO as dc, so chances of winning four in a row seem to be about 1 in a 1000. Losing 4 in a row probably 1 in a 100.
  22. I guess we find out if the committee watches games or looks at scores. I think Minnesota should jump ahead of all the one and 2 loss teams. Is the committee aware of the fact that bama was never in the lead at home, and scored a meaningless td to make the score close? If you look at resume, bama is not in top 5.
  23. 10 mil?....at a withdrawal rate of 4 per cent he can pull out 400k per year. Retire!
  24. If I am the underdog, I would go for 2 every time in end of game situations. Just like Patterson’s brain dead call. He was underdog, but he wanted to give Baylor another chance. Really? Only extenuating circumstance in Iowa state game was momentum. But, Iowa state coach knows which team has better kicker. Speaking of momentum, Iowa state had sooner defense on the ropes, so why not end it right there. 2 yards. He had confidence his offense could get 2. I think it’s a gutsy call.
