  1. to double-down on this idea, I looked and TCU was favored by 4. We win? Contract extension for 3 extra years, make sure Shaka is around to play four guards on defense for the majority of the decade.
  2. Fire day after season ends and new hire announced 9 days later, for a total of 10 days. Not happening any earlier, book it. Damn near a guarantee.
  3. This forecast is interesting, but I tweak it. Finish 16 - 17, go to the other no name tourney, CIT or whatever. Host game and set a new record for low attendance, maybe around 1000, win tournament to finish with a winning record. New coach search is delayed and cdc gets lazy and decides to keep him. How plausible?
  4. If we're going to guess, I would say more like 10 days after the season ends would be the very earliest.
  5. I like this analysis. There has got to be an attendance number that triggers the event. Say the average home attendance is 5000 the rest of this season and the accountants can guess an approximate number of about the same all of next year. Surely that is low enough, combined with the lowering of buyout down to about $8 million to move on to someone else? The NIT game set the record low attendance for the Erwin Center? something like 2000?
  6. Joe Jamail is not walking through that door, to put the pressure on cdc to do his job, and cdc recently signed an extension. Where is the pressure going to come from? fans? Maybe, but attendance has to go to the basement, for a good portion of the season, imo.
  7. Basketball has always been 3rd after football and baseball. I’m starting to think about it from an ad point of view. As long as a decent amount of fans show up, why change? History is there. A long time ago, women outdrew men, and bob weltlich was finally let go. If only 3000 fans show on a regular basis, maybe he does something. Are we there yet? Maybe that and a losing season is what it takes.
  8. I called it before the NFC game that the winner of NFC game was the super bowl winner. I stand by that, for the old school John Madden reasons. He used to say if you can run and defend the run, you win the game. Alter that slightly, San Fran can run, and defend run and pass very well. Niners by 8. Book it.
  9. from an old school perspective, this is not quite the same as Abe Lemons' last year. That team totally collapsed, losing something like 13 of its last 15. Shaka should be judged on his entire 5 years, and I think all you have to do is look at the conference record. I think the NIT business last year, kind of gave CDC an excuse to not take action. It also made CDC's job more difficult. He would have to raise money to buy out a coach who was coming off of winning x number of games in a row. Does the team need to crater for CDC to make a decision or can he make a decision based on a five year record? I wonder if someone like Shaka is concerned bout his professional reputation, if he sticks around just to collect the dough? Iow, could there possibly be some negotiating? Is there a chance Shaka could retain some credibility if he resigns and takes a smaller payoff?
  10. Is CDC just waiting for the right time at the least reasonable cost? I am thinking the boss wants the new coach to be brand new for the new arena? New arena will be ready fall of 20 or 21? I would think that none of the BMDs will want Shaka here for the new arena, but they may not want to payoff Shaka until the new arena is right around the corner.
  11. I didn’t believe you guys about baker so looked it up. This “coach” has taken a 7 feet center or power forward and required him to take 20 three pointers and he made 1. What explanation does Shaka give? Does he hate inside scoring? Never heard of such a thing. If Shaka doesn’t like being here why doesn’t he go somewhere else?
  12. Aha. great opportunity for a really strange theory. Remember when Tom claimed Mack was a mentor? Look at UNC's bowl game this year. Mack's team destroyed the other team, winning by about 30 something points, for some strange reason not letting off the gas. Tom followed suit, not turtling for once. Mack really is either talking to Tom or Tom is simply following Mack's lead. Mack's coaches will easily have that team ready to play. Mack probably wins 8 or 9 games next year, and Tom....9 or 10.
  13. Way too generous. I think our coaches were in the top 125, but just barely. This was the first time I read that one team told the other team during the game, "hey we know what you're going to run". Has anybody ever read that before?
  14. This can be proven objectively that Vince is #1. The number 2 is repeated. Vince won 2 Rose Bowls in 2 visits. In his last Rose Bowl he put the team on his back to beat 2 Heisman Trophy winning players suited up at the same time. Vince was most outstanding player 2 times. Vince was a threat in 2 different and almost equal ways. He could be scary as hell and beat you with his running or he could beat you with his passing. Finally, Vince's team was #2 in the country all year, and not considered a threat to win the Rose Bowl. Come to think of it, Vince should be #2. Dueces were wild! It's still almost unbelievable, that there were 2 Heisman Trophy winning players suited up for a team that was favored to continue a 30 something game winning streak, and they Lost! Vince was literally more than twice as good as the Heisman winners at USC. There will never ever be a team with two Heisman Trophy winners eligible at the same time.
  15. Is the lead 33 yet? Because the Houston professional football record for blowing a lead is 32. Can still happen.
  16. Perfect description of our season. Athletes great enough to make the toughest plays, if they receive decent coaching. If not, 7-5
  17. As someone who left Dallas a couple of years ago, two things.... I am impressed Greggo is still with us. is it true the ticket is finally getting some competition in the ratings? Way overdue. I am shocked Norm lasted longer than Mike.
  18. I watched that and still a little confused. During the extended time of taking off the clock the patriots were offsides. Was that Belicheck's way of trying to get in the way of Tenn.'s plan of taking time off? Did the offsides have any impact in taking time off the clock?
  19. Jerry likes the spotlight. Maybe he wants to extend this search so he can hear about his team all weekend on the halftime of the wildcard games?
