  1. I typically stay at the Double Tree on 15th between Lavaca and Guadalupe. Around $230-250 after taxes. But when I'm up there it's usually because I have an early morning hearing and the courthouse is right down the street.
  2. If the break is in the braid you won't necessarily see kinks in the line from the knot. What kind of knot are you using from braid to swivel? Is it cinched down tight? Kind of sounds like when the tag end on a loop knot isn't tight enough and when a fish gets on the knot cinches down and comes undone. Either that or you got a bad batch of braid, but that doesn't sound likely because the break is always near the same location.
  3. With a wire leader I assume you are fishing for smacks or some other toothy critter. What type of braid are you using? How old is it? Where is the break occurring? I use a 20# fluoro leader about 5-6' long on my braid. Can't recall an instance where the braid snapped; usually occurs at the knot if anywhere.
  4. I'm more bothered when I feel a flutter under my feet; just waiting the piercing of a stingray barb. But like sharks, stingrays would prefer to not be around people.
  5. Out of the balance of the lineup, I would probably be most interested in seeing Colter Wall or Paul Cauthen. Colter has a pretty interesting voice. But Ward David, Whitey Morgan, and Whiskey Myers all have some good tunes. I've heard Jinks puts on a great show.
  6. I've been wade fishing and had 6-8' sharks swim 12-15' from me. First couple of times it bothered me, but then I realized they weren't really interested in me.
  7. You can find his first two albums on YouTube - Collectors Item and Cast No Stones. I'm undecided on the new album.
  8. His name doesn't come up on HCAD. Only record with same last name comes up with market/appraised value of $86,000.
  9. But the food is fucking terrible. One of the best views on the island, though.
  10. Fucking surf looked awesome on saltwater-recon this morning, and I'm stuck in my office. Oh well, guess I'll just fish the backside of the full moon this weekend.
  11. Sandbar at the Sea Isle Marina The Oaks Bar on Stewart Road Woody's near the end of the Seawall
  12. Your best best is probably going to be Taquilo's at 21st and Postoffice, catty corner from Rudy & Paco.
  13. I was there, as well. Sound quality and their AC system both sucked. Will happily see him play elsewhere. Childers is legit.
  14. A guide I'm friends with is on the Shimano prostaff. We were out one day talking about the new Shimano reels and he pulled out a Metanium DC. Put a Corky Fat Boy on and BOMBED that lure out there. There was some tail wind, but I don't think I've ever seen a Corky cast that far. Based on what he showed me with a couple of casts, you do gain distance. He didn't thumb the spool at all.
  15. ProTax reduced my market and appraised values in Harris County by 11%. Going to use them again next year to try and get lower.
  16. ESPN2 https://texassports.com/schedule.aspx?path=baseball
  17. Should also add if we're not renting a house we prefer to stay at Hotel Galvez (we stay here in the summer because it has a pool) or Tremont House (no longer has a pool sharing agreement with Hotel Galvez).
  18. You going to put anything on that chair to help it go down easier?
  19. Restaurant at Sea Isle or Mario's at Pirates Beach.
  20. Check out Shykatz on 16th and L for breakfast. Rudy & Paco is probably the best restaurant on the island. If you're into history, check out The Bryan Museum
  21. It's beyond terrible. I keep waiting for Moreland and Swindell to strangle him.
  22. He may be the best pitcher on staff.
  23. Is that Site 55? Been in that area by boat, but never vehicle. Llanoflash, you can also check out Laguna Shores near the Causeway and the other side by the Naval station
