  1. "State snapper" How much beer or weed did they take to trade with the shrimpers?
  2. Buddy of mine is thinking of moving his boat to the states because he can’t get down there.
  3. Rigging is done by the dealer, generally. I bought my Majek from Kresta's and have been happy with the rigging. When I talk about finish work, I'm speaking of the hull itself. Haynies just seem sloppy to me. A friend of mine bought one in the past 18 months. We went on a quick drift fishing trip and I noticed the drain holes from his front hatches to the deck (1) did not have brass through fittings and (2) were not fiberglassed or gel coated. It was just bare marine plywood. That is ridiculous for a $70k boat. I don't know what JH has done, but they've really stepped up the finish work and rigging on their boats. If I ever move on from an Xtreme, a JH will be in top contention.
  4. I would get a JH B series before I got a Mowdy. I have a 22’ Xtreme and love it. But I use it primarily for wade fishing. 60% of the time or more I fish alone. The 22’ is not what I would consider a great family boat. Cannot speak to the 25’. If I primarily fished Baffin I would have an Xtreme, JH B series, or a 23’ Magnum. My big problem with Haynie is the finish work is meh. JH or Mowdy will be tippy for drift fishing. May want to consider a Shallow Sport Mod V or Pathfinder.
  5. That’s not the light bar, it’s the anchor/all-around light. There is a story floating around that the light bar went out on the run to Sanctuary from POC.
  6. Collision was with the east bulkhead. Story is they were going to fish lights in Sanctuary. Light bar allegedly went out on the way there.
  7. @crimsonlonghorn have you tried using a BBQ guru on your BGE to hold temp?
  8. Add a some malted milk powder as well.
  9. What kind of bay fishing do you want to do? Wade or drift? Bait or lures?
  10. Agreed. Galveston has been packed this summer.
  11. Sandbar at West End Marina (Sea Isle) is open and so is Nate's in Jamaica Beach. I think Waterman's in Pirates is open, but would not go based on recent reviews I've heard.
  12. Here's some pics of a brisket I did a couple of weeks ago. I soaked some post oak chunks in water for 24-30 hours and that really helped with the smoke flavor. Brisket was probably about 12.5# after trimming. Cook time was 9 hours at 260*. It was sitting on the counter sliced for a while before I took that pic.
  13. Not Houston, but there is one in Stafford on 90 between 610 and 59. There is also one in Sugar Land on 90 just west of Hwy. 6.
  14. If you're staying at Pointe West, it's going to be a lot closer to go to Freeport or Surfside.
  15. Can’t rent the spoil island cabins; only the floaters.
  16. Interesting. I just don't consider that to be high deductible.
  17. I pay $50 twice a month for Cigna PPO. Deductible and out-of-pocket are $3,000/$6,000. Employer contribution is about $580 per month. Our firm health insurance is about $42,000/month.
  18. Is that really considered a high-deductible plan?
  19. Over sand and grass. Thigh to waist deep. Fish were pulled up on the flats. Best and most fish came fishing a color line. Fished the same area last Friday without a sniff.
  20. Went out this morning for a quick trip. Only got out at two places. All of the trout I caught were fat (up to 4.5#). Met some buddies at the second stop. One of them had a 4# flounder. Kept three fish to eat. All of our fish were caught on Saltwater Assassins.
  21. This. Even when I tucked my pants into the boots, they still caused blisters. Fuck that noise. ForNeverLast is about to release Kevlar socks. I question how much they'll protect against stingrays, but an interesting option if they do.
