  1. I never understood guarding Espada. Let him interview and learn on the job somewhere else. He should be taking his lumps in Pittsburgh; not on a contending team.
  2. It bugs the shit of me that she almost exclusively interviews new call ups and scrubs for Bases Loaded. I don’t give a fuck about Melton’s high school girlfriend. Do your damn job and stick a microphone in front of Yordan’s face. Or get off your ass and go interview guys rehabbing in West Palm Beach.
  3. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/rcna197161
  4. As I’ve said before, the robbers were morons, but they were smart enough to start a fire and the flames/water was enough to destroy all physical evidence. Am I missing anything? Jones said even if they found the gun it wouldn’t help because a revolver was used (no casings) and the slugs broke apart in the victims’ skulls.
  5. Yeah, I think they’re going to dust off Ahmad Rashad to throw him softballs. There’s some talk of NBC bringing back Inside Stuff, so I’ll tolerate the MJ interviews to get it back. I was hoping for some back in my day hot takes from the great one.
  6. My favorite Ikardism was praising Skeletor for showing up to press conferences on time in year 2. I’m almost certain they’re in their Chuckles Era.
  7. I’m not watching the game for obvious reasons. How’s the cheeky banter between Julia, Kalas, and Blummer?
  8. Remember when were terrified that another team would hire Espada away when Dusty was manager? Good times.
  9. I assume United is the move for Houston to Denver? Work is making me do a back in October. It looks like United has both the earlier departures and latest returns.
  10. How does he feel about feet stuff? Asking for @Rimbo
  11. Whew. I thought we were about to Astro’d on the injury report.
  12. That’s a good one. I can’t really think of any recent examples. All of Saban’s Bama teams either had a bus driver QB or a star QB with another star back up. It would have gotten pretty hairy at Clemson without Lawrence, but those were some very complete teams. Ohio State won with a back up QB in 2014. I think Bennett was much better than given credit for at Georgia. There’s a reason he’s still on the Rams. Burrow was a helluva QB, but he had a stacked team around him. Jameis is a good example. FSU probably wins 7-8 games without him in 2013.
  13. I study the weather pretty carefully to figure out when to water my oak trees and flowers and walk the dogs. Houston is no go zone between 9am and 9pm in July and August and we’ve had a pretty mild summer. This is incredibly frustrating as a pet owner and amateur gardener. Some of our 5-530am walks this summer have been downright pleasant. You can do a lot worse than upper 70s with a nice breeze. I’ve always maintained the best way to survive a Houston summer is to do everything outdoors before dawn. I’m shocked more Houston homes don’t have a second floor porch. It’s really the only way to catch a nice breeze at night in the summers. Growing up a young lady down the street had one. Her house was usually first in line to go hang out at. She was lucky, pretty rare in new construction. You only really see them in older houses that used it as a sleeping porch in the summers before AC. The Hogg Mansion is a classic example. I’ve lived in each of the 4 major Texas cities for at least a year. Humblest of brags. I’d say Dallas had the worst weather. Very hot summers and winters approaching something like you’d see in Oklahoma. I think the summer we lived there we had 60+ consecutive days over 100. I won’t discount the dry heat. I was able to walk the dogs in New Braunfels back in July without breaking a sweat. The Hill Country really shines at night. It’s possible to go bar hopping in the summers without getting drenched in sweat.
  14. Well, that was inevitable. Almost took him deep 3 times.
  15. Has there been a program more dependent on a single player than Florida and Lagway? Off the top of my head, you’d have to go back Cam Newton and Auburn.
  16. Flood seems to want guys he’s recruited and coached, portal be damned. I’ll agree with LT that they should have stashed a tackle or two from a smaller school. So much film work goes into scouting our opponents. Surely they’ve spotted couple guys that could play for Texas.
  17. It seems like the entire show is on good fishing. Even Bob is hitting homers. Awesome to see. Was there a law that forbade fishing the western grounds for king crab? Per Sig’s narration, they weren’t fished for a generation. Jake is playing with fire. You can’t be in 2 places at once buddy. If I were on FaceTime for a few hours with my wife every day at work, I’d expect to lose my job. Calling her between strings is 1 thing, but if S21 E3 is any indication, he’s constantly on the phone with her.
  18. Per The Ringer, NBA on NBC will feature prerecorded Michael Jordan segments. It doesn’t sound like he’ll be doing any live studio stuff. Disappointing.
  19. The Creek People guys have some balls. I would have told HBO to go to hell. You know the APD Cold Case detectives are going to ask them to come in.
  20. Howe and Rod Babers did a season preview on aggy. Jesus H. Christ. Some lowlights: - York is a top 5 LB in the country. Yes, they really said that. Look it up if you don’t believe me. - aggy might have the best rushing attack on Texas’ schedule. - Generic SECN like sentiments about aggy’s roster. NFL talent all over the roster, but can they put it all together?
  21. Yep. Football finances all non-revenue sports, and most SEC athletic are operating with tight “reported” margins or are operating at a loss. Arkansas is a great example. A formerly proud SEC program is basically tanking this season because they didn’t want to pay Pittman $20 million after the 2024 season. The media doesn’t help. After Michigan’s $20 million+ NCAA penalty, reporters were tweeting out Michigan’s endowment valued at $19.2 billion. The average fan, and apparently journalists, don’t understand you can’t spend endowment funds on athletics. There are very strict guidelines on how universities can spend that money. If there weren’t strict guidelines, aggy would have already spent every penny of their PUF portion on football years ago. Long story short, aggy (sort of), Texas, Georgia, and Alabama are the only SEC schools that can eat a huge buyout. Florida looked for a work around with Napier. Tennessee self reported penalties to fire Pruitt with cause.
  22. I like Huie’s original purpose of filming a documentary about false confessions. It got rolled into Yogurt Shop Murders and we get another nothing burger 4 hour special.
  23. UTSA at aggy feels like a classic TexAgs meltdown game. I could see them trailing like 14-13 at the the start of the fourth quarter and Looch handing out thousands of time outs.
