Mom and pops have a place in this world. Especially with their attention to store picks that the big box stores have no interest in. But they shouldnāt do this to their regulars. Iām sure yāall would gladly pay $400 cash for BTAC. Thereās still making money, and their regulars get a terrific bottle. Win-win.
Well Michigan has their media people rowing in the same direction.
Eisen: I didnāt know anything. I heard a horrible rumor that I couldnāt believe. But I didnāt know anything.
Portnoy: Personal issue. Not an institutional issue. Nothing to see here. Move on everybody.
A guy on another message board admitting to spending $22k in 9 months at the Midtown Specās. Heās had some nice Vault pulls, but heās not exactly blowing me out of the water and Iāve spent a small fraction of that. Thereās some bottles like Heaven Hill 19 or OF Presidential that know Iām never going to get and thatās just fine.
Not a bad week. WLW and Lot B. About what I usually get for Christmas. No idea when I can pick it up. Their turnaround is is averaging 10 business days.
Gilligan was inspired by 2 things. The rise of AI and Covid.
AI is obviously the virus. The ensuing disaster is Covid.
Some people like AI. Some people liked staying home during Covid. Letās call them an analogue for the Others, people like Laxmi that want to join the hive mind, and Others sympathizers like Diabate.
Vince is asking what it means to be human. If we let AI do everything for us, are we still human? If Carol asked the Others (AI) to bury Helen while she drank iced tea and chatted with Zosia (ChatGPT) on the back porch, is she really mourning Helen?
She did it herself with immense pain and exertion. She bled, sweated, and cried over Helenās grave. She suffered. She mourned. She achieved emotional closure.
MSRP on Eagle Rare and ETL essentially doubled. Blantonās is a cool $90-95 now.
I still think ER is a good buy at $50, but I wonāt buy another bottle of Blantonās or ETL unless Iām forced to in a bundle situation. Weller 12 and Antique have been $50 for several years.
They priced ER12 well. I believe itās the same price as ER10. The new cask strength Sazerac rye is supposed to be under $50. BT is kind of a mixed bag on MSRP.
Random thoughts:
- I remain convinced Gilligan doesnāt want to do a big VFX show with hundreds of extras in alien makeup. I think there will be a build up for an invasion and theyāll converse with Carol, but little green men arenāt coming.
- Something stuck with me after the poker scene. The others clean up broken glass with their bare hands. No brooms or dust pans or hell gloves. This could demonstrate the aliens donāt give a shit if the others injure themselves in their service. Theyāre worker bees.
- Maybe the virus didnāt kill anyone because the aliens need worker bees? What if their biology prevents them from doing some tasks on Earth? What if they donāt like dirty jobs?
- Again everything is deliberate with Gilligan. He went out of his way in the previous episode to say they can gather and eat fallen fruit. Thereās probably enough healthy orchids on Earth to keep a small number of humans alive.
The Bama-OU game going to be a dogshit fight. They just played and it was probably the worst 60 minutes of football Iāve witnessed this season. I think OU wins and then gets drubbed by IU. Probably the worst offensive 11 win team in recent memory.
Tulane - Ole Miss and JMU - Oregon should both be better games. At least your eyes wonāt bleed during it.
aggy probably needs Beck to go full regard to beat Miami. I fully expect him to go full regard in a big game. fOSU should handle them pretty easily. Iād bet the over on The Blanket to pick up 5 DPIās in that game. Iām glad weāre back to beating aggyās ass instead of the common opponent argument bullshit we had to do for 10+ years.
Oregon should wax Tech, but holding Indiana in reserve to knock them out makes me feel pretty good about it.
