  1. The NBA needs to get rid of the breakaway fouls teams constantly commit.
  2. Yeah it's obvious they're saving Luka's legs. He's taken on an overwhelming load so far this series. I thought way too much was made of Booker and Paul hunting Luka at the end of the game. It was clear that their success had a lot more to do with Luka being fatigued as opposed to him being a poor defensive player. A significant number of those 50 possessions against Luka happened in the first half and they didn't have nearly the same level of success when he had his legs.
  3. Luka began almost every possession in the high post to start the game as opposed to initiating the offense from the wing. In fact most of his offensive work today has been in the post.
  4. Powell has allowed us to get 2 offensive rebounds early in this game.
  5. Had the NCAA not dragged their feet on this issue and now totally abdicated any responsibility towards creating a suitable structure this could've been a boon for college basketball in keeping stars in school longer. Imagine if NIL was around for the Fab 5.
  6. The guy who actually came up with the draft pick valuation chart was a Petroleum engineer from the university of Arkansas. I forgot his name, but "It's Just Banter" discussed him on a recent podcast episode.
  7. Cowboys haven't traded a player that returned a top 3 round draft pick since the Hershel Walker trade. They're the only team in the league to go even a decade with this sort of drought. Conversely they've traded for a number of players over this time period for 1st round picks. You'd think that an owner would take the lessons learned from the most successful period of his ownership and utilize those tools again, but Jerry has taken that lesson and done the exact opposite.
  8. We have a shitload of crawfish for $5s a lb at Catty Corner for anyone in the area. It's a fundraiser for Sinclair elementary and we ordered way too much.

  10. I thought the non-Hans guy was great. He really played up the discomfort and awkwardness while still maintaining the funny.
  11. His real life brother, Steve Harris, is playing Magic's business manager on the show, Dr. Day.
  12. Throughout college and early in his pro career Bird was similar to Kareem in that he was really shy and somewhat surly with the media. It's part of why he left Indiana and Bob Knight. He preferred being out of the limelight. The difference between Bird and Kareem is that Bird eventually opened up and by his mid to late 20s he developed a wry, playful banter with the media and his dry humor was displayed more often.
  13. Lol She's been spouting this shit for years to no ill effect for her professorship at Penn law.
  14. I felt the same way at the time. The funny thing is in today's game you see some of the same elements Penders implemented (3-man weave at the top of the key, open post, high pick'n roll) used frequently, although I don't remember Penders having much else in his bag back then.
  15. Yeah that was detailed in the book @Nivek mentioned up top. I've drank a bunch since reading it so I've forgotten most of it, but the stress and trauma desperate poverty inflicts on some of those kids (particularly those dwelling in dangerous neighborhoods) wreaks havoc on their bodies and minds over the course of their childhood.
  16. Penders had horrible timing in sabotaging himself with the release of Axtel's grades. Part of what led to Barnes' success was the fact that the state's high school talent was in transition towards being among the best in the nation. Penders saw the beginning stages of this process with us joining the Big 12 and the signings of Clack, Mihm, & Axtel, but he didn't stay long enough to see it all come into fruition.
  17. I missed most of the 1st hour. Was there any resolution with Jake or do we expect him to no longer be on the show in another week?
  18. Broad sympathy for some; broader skepticism for others.
