  1. The irony in all this is we're ultimately losing Jalen because of Luka's freak calf strain in the last game of the fucking season. Without Luka's injury Jalen never blows up against the Jazz and probably resigns with us for somewhere in the neighborhood of Hardaway's contract.
  2. One thing that still hasn't been explained is why did Dallas give Brunson a rookie contract that never called for restricted status. Now the Ticket (mainly Jake) has alluded to it being some sort of altruism of sorts because Brunson should've been a 1st round pick, but I'm calling bullshit. Everything about the Mavs and Mark Cuban's history tells me he wanted to lessen Brunson's future cap hold in hopes of having cap space in attracting a future free agent. Once again Mark's irrational need to hit a home run in free agency fucks us in the end.
  3. His dad has worked as an assistant to Tibs multiple times over the last decade.
  4. I like both TC and Monty. Both of them are better at radio than Sean Bass or anyone else at the ticket below the tier one guys or maybe Mino, although it's debatable as to whether Mino has much over them as a broadcaster.
  5. I thought the hoodie ban was weird when I first heard about it, but our pediatrician told my wife that apparently the latest craze for teenage girls is that they go commando under their hoodies. So I guess it makes sense given that bit of info.
  6. Jake didn't pick Sean over TC, Cat or Bill Bennet did.
  7. They're not the only ones. Even purportedly knowledgeable college football people like Stewart Mandel made ridiculously inane points like Donnie and Norm.

  9. You're right they didnt win a game in the the NBA Finals after Kyrie after winning only 1 game in the Finals with him the year before. 😕
  10. Kyrie is this generation's Stephon Marbury. Teams get worse when he gets there and better when he leaves. Back in the early 00s Marbury was traded from the Nets to the Suns for Jason Kidd. The Nets immediately became title contenders while the Suns record plummeted. Fast forward 3 or 4 years later and the Suns let Marbury go, signed Steve Nash, and suddenly became title contenders again.
  11. Or maybe it was just an area of concentration back then within the Liberal Arts Department.
  12. https://www.texasstandard.org/stories/conference-celebrates-50-years-of-black-studies-at-ut-with-eye-toward-programs-future/ The name has changed through the years, but UT began offering the major in 1969 according to the article above. I think the confusion on the name of the department is due to renaming it after Dr. Paul Warfield in 2008 or 2009
  13. He'd worth a lot more than that. He took a team friendly deal.
  14. One of the drawbacks of the recent focus on the Tulsa massacre is that the attention put on it leads people to believe it was a unique or rare occurrence, both with respect to the success of black folks at that time and the resulting riots brought on by white resentment. That shit happened numerous times all over pre depression era America.
  15. That's definitely not true. I knew several people who majored in African American Studies at UT when I was in undergrad during the mid to late 90s.
  16. He also took it because it was substantially more than he was making as a producer.
  17. Wood's 2022 stats would've led the Mavs in blocks, total rebs, & defensive rebs this year. And as far as the number of teams he's played for I'm not sure that's totally fair for a guy who began his career as a G leaguer. He didn't hit his stride as an NBA player until his last year in Detroit, If for instance, 2 or 3 years from now, Theo Pinson suddenly developed into a worthwhile asset people lamenting the number of teams he played for would be beyond ridiculous.
  18. Trade won't go through officially until after the draft because of the Stepien rule (can't trade picks in consecutive years). Mavs still owe next year's pick to the Knicks for Porzingis, so this trade will technically go into effect after the Mavs draft a player for the Rockets.
  19. The word on Woods according to the Locked On Mavericks guys is that while he's not a good rim protector he is really good on switches. He's a really mobile defender and can hold his own against guards. So this actually bodes well for our defense being at least as good as it was last year post-Porzingis trade. We can play him next to both Maxi and Powell because of his shooting and ability rolling to the basket, so hopefully he comes with it in what will be a contract year for him.
  20. These sorts of comments always make me laugh. As if David Duke didn't love his black nanny or Strom Thurmond didn't love his daughter. Human beings are complicated creatures who are adept at employing the right amount of cognitive dissonance to suit their needs whenever necessary.
  21. How is that any different from Danny?
  22. Davey over Sirois seems like it has Corby's hands all over it, that or Cat's relationship with Davey overrode all the work Sirois has put in over the last 15 years years. Which is fucked up.
  23. This doesn't apply to the Dalton Schultz situation, but it's apropos for most Cowboys negotiations.
