  1. I'm pretty sure Mack said something about it back in the day.
  2. Damn, I hate this.
  3. Yeah I know I've mentioned Matt Hill coaching in the NBA a number of times. I believe there may have been a time when both Ivey and Hill were on the same staff.
  4. Great interview. And CJ Stroud gained a fan as well.
  5. There weren't a lot of Americans making it to European leagues in the 90s. Outside of Alexi Lalas and a goalie here or there I can't think of any American soccer players who played in Europe during the 90s or even prior to Landon Donovan.
  6. While googling where in the world Ahmad Brooks is now I came across stuff about him being in the ODP (Olympic development program) beginning as a 14 year old. Apparently Ahmad was a top 50 soccer player as a youngster. Read an article where he discusses how close he came to quitting football prior to his junior year of high school. Ahmad Brooks attended and graduated from Abilene High in Abilene, Texas. Ahmad was a dual sport athlete, participating in both football and soccer. I had heard a story that Ahmad was considering walking away from the game of football to concentrate on his soccer career. Ahmad's football coach at the time, Steve Warren, was a big reason for him not doing so. I asked Ahmad if he would share his memory of the day he walked into Coach Warren's office to break the news that he was quitting the football team. "Most people don't know this about me, but I was 10 times better at soccer than I was at football and I'm proud to say that. I was on the National team, I was All-State as a Freshman, All-Regionial, and first team at that. At the age of 14 I was traveling around the world playing soccer and I remember my first trip abroad, we went to Costa Rica. In this third-world country, the kids playing with soccer balls that were so used that the leather shell was completely worn off of them, the painted goals on the street, it really impacted my life." "That sport was much more goalable than football and in hind sight it is. It's the most popular sport in the world and at my size, 5'7" and 135 pounds at the time, it made no sense to continue playing football." "So I walked into Coach Warren's office with all intentions of me quitting. I let him know that I wanted to concentrate on soccer, he knew how good I was at the sport, and I didn't feel like I was getting the recognition that I deserved in football. I was playing QB at the time and I knew that I would never play Quarterback in college. You have to keep in mind this is right before my Junior year of high school, I was traveling with the top 50 soccer players in the world earlier that year, so I knew I had a future in the sport of soccer." "I walked into Coach Warren's office right before spring ball to inform him that I would be quiting, the whole time coach was shaking his head. About that time he reached under his desk and pulled out about 50 letters from big Division I schools in the country for football. I remember starting to cry, it was a very emotional moment. Coach Warren was my DB's coach the year before and now my Head Coach, so it was an accomplishment for both of us." https://bleacherreport.com/articles/785478-a-lifetime-longhorn-a-look-back-at-ahmad-brooks-the-original-lifetime-longhorn.
  7. Let's be serious though, how many color commentators are lauded for being great. Most of them get trashed or ignored. Every now and then someone like Klatt or maybe Herbstreit back in the day will get some accolades thrown their way, but like a google review most discussion concerning broadcast teams lean towards negativity.
  8. This forum is littered with threads of former players getting bashed up and down it. Casey's thread isn't an isolated case.
  9. I mean there are usually only 2 or 3 LHN games all year so it's understandable that people overlooked his absence, but it's funny to continually watch people talk about him as if he's still doing something he hasn't done in 3 years.
  10. Nope it was just Acho. It was just Acho and Galindo last year as well. And the year before that it was Andre Ware and Galindo. Brooks hasn't done an LHN broadcast since at least 2019. He was doing ESPNU games with Adam Amin, but I don't think he's doing that anymore either.
  11. There's nothing Longhorn fans like to do more than hate former Longhorn players.
  12. Ahmad hasn't done an LHN game in a couple of years. I realize this thread was started a few years back, but you'd think by now people would notice Ahmad isn't on the call anymore.
  13. An under discussed aspect of Stephen seizing more and more control of the Cowboys is he seems to be cheap as fuck. Prior to Dak signing his new contract and that year under the franchise tag the Cowboys spent among the lowest in the league in payroll over a 2 or 3 season period. And now after a 1 or 2 year hiatus from being amongst the lowest level payrolls in the league they are right back to being near the bottom again. I'm certain someone could work up a plausible defense using Romo's contract still being on the books during Dak's first few years and other extenuating circumstances to explain away the lower tier payroll, but it's still something I'd pay attention to in the future while Stephen is running things.
  14. Bingo!!! Pearl, Clinton, Madison, Brandon, are all over 55% with all but Clinton being over 70% white. And you'd be surprised by Florida's racial history.
  15. Well the Hardline kinda stole Klatt from Bad Radio/The Hangzone.
  16. Some of the technicalities concerning managing the 53 man roster have changed in the fallout of COVID. One such example is the allowance of veterans on the practice sqad and allowing guys to go back and forth from the PS to the 53-man roster multiple times before a decision has to be made. I'm not sure if your IR example is something that existed prior to recent changes or if it's new, but there have a number of changes over the last 3 seasons.
  17. There's a good chance he'll still make the 53-man roster in another week. With recent rule changes this initial cut to the 53-man is just as much about managing roster needs like placing players on IR and retaining players with multi-year contracts as it is about actually formulating a team's week one 53 man roster.
  18. Never said it was, just that typically if one gets into a top 20 MBA program without work experience it's another level of accomplishment. And I agree with the primary point of your post which was that Hudson Card getting into the undergraduate program is a big deal and he's definitely not going to transfer prior to obtaining his degree.
  19. You sure about that chief???' I know he's in the undergrad program, but this is the first I've heard of him getting into the MBA program, which would be quite the accomplish to 1) not only get into without work experience, but 2) get into in only 3 years of undergrad.
  20. Are we talking about the same message boards that prove to be full of shit with most other stories?
  21. Staples can't help but force in an SEC reference no matter what is being discussed.
  22. Given how many players Sark shuffled out of here over the last few months he agrees with Casey.
  23. I believe the Big 10's weekly game selection works a lot different that the SEC and other conferences. The games are chosen prior to the season starting. So Fox will choose Michigan/Ohio St with the first pick, and then CBS will choose a game, then NBC and then back to Fox with the 4th pick. Maybe Fox gets a few more extra picks due to their buy, but it works like a draft where the picks are made for the entire season.
  24. Audience size. All those big ass schools with huge alumni populations command massive and loyal audiences. Especially in the Northeast where all these TV networks are headquartered. Ohio St, Michigan, Penn St, Michigan St., Wisconsin, and now USC and UCLA. Our view of the Big 10 has been warped over the last 15 years by the brand management job ESPN has done for the SEC. For most of my lifetime Big 10 schools have had an overwhelming presence in college football. It's only in the last 15 years where the Big 10's coverage took a 2ndary role to the SEC. I remember how I felt about the Big 10 back in 2004 when we faced Michigan in the Rose bowl and how I had a nagging sense that they were overrated. What I was really emoting was a feeling of envy over the coverage they received at the time.
