  1. Was the nearest Twitter account he could steal around 41 yards away or something?
  2. I mean that's true, but then I have to skip through it to get to his punts. I was more wondering if one of those Shaggy video elites could whip up a highlight video/if they knew of one I was unable to find via Google.
  3. This. Despite Republicans trying to structure pension obligations in such a way that they strike the balance sheet far earlier than they need to or would for any other business, the Postal Service still runs in a tremendously efficient fashion. While in many cases the private sector can do things better, this one of those cases where the public sector significantly outperforms their private sector colleagues from the perspective of the consumer and the worker.
  4. If I had to guess who will be the nominee, I'd have to guess Kamala Harris. She's immensely popular and doesn't have much national political experience. She may suffer a bit in the primaries due to her very tough on crime views while serving as DA of SF and then AG of CA, but she'll likely survive that. Her limited time in the Senate allows her to keep her hands mostly clean and the last primary and general election on both sides showed having a history can make life awfully difficult. Second guess would be Hickenlooper trying to run with the whole moderate schtick. I don't think it'll work with everyone so polarized and fired up, but we'll see. Dark horse: Pete Buttgieg. I think he'll run and lose. He'll parlay that either into a successful Governor or Congressional run in 2022 or potentially be a VP pick. Darker horse: No idea if he has any desire to do so, but Schiff has made quite a big name for himself and could be the golden boy based on how these investigations go. As for who I want it to be, I want a Democrat who's damn good on foreign policy, especially wrt to China and Russia (or at the very least someone who recognizes how important FP is and gets an elite staff). Trump has made countering China in Asia and the rest of the world so much harder than it had to be. We need to put some serious work into rebuilding alliances across the entire world if we are to limit China's growth and ensure our continued place at the top defining the rules and standards of international politics, trade, and technology. Being able to do so has brought us an incredible ROI and we need to keep that power. As for Russia, their economy is in deep trouble and Putin's wars and military parades can only distract from the fact for so long. Obama's sanctions during a time of increasing oil prices starting a run on the ruble was very advantageous for us as it resulted in Russia burning through its forex reserves to stabilize the currency and an overall weakening of their economic situation(read more here as they have a surprising good summary of it: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian_financial_crisis_(2014–2017)). GDP growth has been terrible with an absolute collapse from 2014 (start of the annexation of Crimea) to 2017. Having a massive loss in GDP during a global recover/boom is terrible and now still having a 1.5% growth rate as a developing nation is terrible. Economic and geopolitical forecasters warn about the political situation as a result of this come 2023-2026 and it'd be great if we had a foreign policy team that could take advantage of that.
  5. Part of that is because it's one of the few states where you can survive living outside basically year round (doubt too many homeless people survive a Minnesota winter for too long), another part is that other states give their homeless people bus tickets to California as their solution to homelessness, and another part of it is that homeless people generally move to cities and California is the biggest state with the biggest cities. Some of it does have to do with too onerous of restrictions on building developments, but even building a shit ton of skyscrapers for SROs wouldn't bring housing prices down to an affordable level in San Francisco. There are just too many high paying jobs there which will guarantee people get priced out and you can only get developers to agree to so much rent control in exchange for rights to build. Having the problems with too many homeless people isn't necessarily and indictment of poor policy and in the case of Newsom it probably isn't as I think he is in favor of loosening SF's zoning restrictions and encouraging more building. FWIW, while you go after California, they're clearly doing something right as they have 5 public universities (4 if you choose not to count UCSF as they're purely a graduate medical institution) that outperform us in research according to the ARWU (decent enough ranking) and 6 that outperform in undergraduate education (US News, it's shit, but it's the one everyone uses so eh). It has a per capita GDP 10% higher than ours. The top graduates from their high schools generally beat and outnumber ours if you look at performance in national competitions and representation in science contests like ISEF and STS and in crude metrics like PSAT cutoff for National Merit (an OK-ish estimator of seeing how well educated the top of the state is). Let's not start throwing stones from glass houses. If you think no Democrat from CA should be president, no Republican from TX ever should either because they failed to invest in the future of Texas and as a result we've been falling behind. We should be #1 in everything. This is Texas goddamnit.
  6. Does anyone have any highlight videos of his best punts strung together? I can find individual clips, but no full length video and that is a crime considering how good he is.
  7. "Try and stop us please" I love how often that line is repeated. You can almost hear the pain in his voice towards the end.
  8. Great update, thanks!
  9. Big get at a huge position of need where we have almost nobody in state? That's how you end a week right.
  10. Like I said last page, that guy don't play no school
  11. Mostly due to how bad his other appointments had been, appointing Dennis Rodman as the first US Ambassador to North Korea may be in his top 10 appointments.
  12. When a White House accused of collusion with the Russians brings in Russians that are banned from entering the United States, yeah I'd say we took multiple loads to the face.
  13. The owner of that Twitter definitely never played school
  14. Wow, with all the politics that have been happening recently I completely forgot that the Governor went to war with the flagship university in an attempt to convert into a trade school. We've already been fucked enough by the state in the past twenty years, but for that to then happen was ridiculous. We should be competing with the UC Berkeley and Michigan's of the world not the Aggies. I almost am willing to tolerate the BORG to get more research money. Fuck Rick Perry and his ilk [/nocr] Not to mention we also have to deal with stupid ass Ags on the board of regents who essentially kill any forward progress Texas tries to make in the race to the top. Jesus christ I made a frustrated me even more frustrated.
  15. How the fuck do you already have 332...It's only been like 5 days.
  16. Jake Smith probably right up there with Wilson. I'd put Washington right after Whittington, and Lee after Wease
  17. Before the WR vs DB drills I thought Wease was the 2nd or 3rd best WR after Wilson and maybe Whittington. Now I think he may be 4th with Higgins being #2. Jesus it shouldn't be possible to move like that at his size. I am disappointed that we aren't in it for him as he is a stud, but I'm not too worked up about it. Arjei would be viewed as a stud in most other classes. But I have him below Wright on my list. If we could end with a class of Wilson, Higgins, Whittington, and Wright, I'd be through the roof.
  18. Why do we care? Big XII refs are fucking stupid and terrible at their jobs. What makes you think they know the first thing about drawing up good plays. About as useful as insight about OL play from Bobby Burton.
  19. As always I recommend reading their post on their website because it's free and they're the only guys worth supporting: http://texas.thefootballbrainiacs.com/2018/03/open-post-tuesday-march-27th/ For your convenience it is copied below – Branson Bragg: Recently, 2019 OC Branson Bragg, Crandall, Tx., posted his top eight on twiiter. The fact that Texas made his top eight comes as no surprise. If you recall, our own Will Baizer and JY provided an in depth look at the Elite Linemans recruitment back in February. Branson Bragg Shortly after he tweeted out the list, Brandon Drumm from the OU side was able to catch up with him. Brandon asked Branson the reasoning behind including each of the schools on his list. Bragg told him, “Texas is that flagship program. It’s in-state and has the elite coaches that can take my game to the next level. He went on to say, “The university/academic side of it helps too, since the academic prestige is there.” When Brandon asked about his thoughts on OL Coach Hand, Branson said, “Coach Hand is a super respected guy, and it’s evident when you talk to him that he is also among the best. I would say I am pretty close with him” We still feel very good about where Texas stands with Branson and we will continue to keep you all updated on Bragg’s recruitment over time. – (Charlie) – Garett Wilson: As you all know one of the big recent visits that happened was Garrett Wilson making his first trip up to Columbus for an unofficial visit to Ohio State. It’s well known by now that Garrett grew up in Columbus rooting for the Buckeyes. Both Texas and Oklahoma are clearly in the picture with Wilson. I’ve been wondering however, if Ohio State was going to be a real contender or just a school that Wilson liked when he was young but ultimately was better as a childhood memory than a reality. I chatted briefly with Wilson this past weekend but plan to have a full conversation with him. Two takeaways from my initial communication with him. 1. The Ohio State trip met his lofty expectations. Again, I thought there was a chance that it could be a visit that ended up being good but not quite what he imagined. That was not the case. Garrett said it was every bit as good as he had hoped and imagined. 2. Wilson said he will indeed take an official visit to Ohio State. That visit is expected to happen later this spring as Wilson would like to make a decision by early summer. Bottom line here is, Ohio State did what they needed to do to be a threat in this one. Again, I hope to have more with Wilson later. – (Super K) – NaNa Osafo-Mensah: Top 2019 DE/OLB, NaNa Osaf0-Mensah (Nolan Catholic) was originally planning to take an unofficial visit to Texas this past weekend but that did not materialize. He let me know that he has rescheduled and plans to visit Texas this upcoming weekend. – (Super K) – Early Spring Thoughts: Texas is a few practices into Spring Practice and I wanted to give some of my early thoughts on the Longhorns offense so far. – It looks to be Sam Ehlinger’s team so far. He’s more comfortable this year and he knows what he needs to do to win the job. Tom Herman and Tim Beck have been preaching it to him all the time: take care of the football. – Daniel Young is the guy at RB right now. Toneil Carter is a good change of pace back, IF he can hold onto the football. Also, there is a sense of excitement around what RB Keaontay Ingram can do when he arrives on campus this summer. – The biggest questions with the WR’s was how would Texas get Collin Johnson and Lil’Jordan Humphrey on the field at the same time, as both we’re lining up at the same position during the first few Spring practice. That question was answered when Tom Herman said Humphrey would line up in the slot when Texas went 12 personnel. At 6’4 220 pounds, Humphrey could become a major mismatch in the slot. – Jerrod Heard is another guy I’ve heard good things about at WR. We heard the same about Heard last year and it didn’t really translate to production on the field. So we’ll see if the SR WR can make a big impact in his final year in burnt orange. – Andrew Beck and Reese Leitao are the two TE’s taking most of the reps right now. Cade Brewer is still recovering from his torn ACL suffered late in the 2017 season. There is a lot of excitement about the growth Leitao made during his redshirt year. Though I still expect Beck to be the starter when the year begins, Leitao and Brewer are better receiving options over Beck. – Right now, most of the OL seems to be set. With Zach Shackelford at C, Patrick Vahe at LG, and Elijah Rodreguez at either RG or RT (he’s starting at RG) right now. But then things get interesting and there could be some mixing and matching that happens once the full pads are on for a while. – The biggest thing to watch going forward is the situation at left Tackle. Will grad transfer OT Calvin Anderson walk in this summer and win the LT spot? If he does, that would knock Denzel Okafor out of the starting lineup. Then does JUCO transfer Mickey Grandy look like a better option at RG over Elijah Rodregiez? If he does that means we could have a 3-man battle at RT between Rodreguez, Okafor, and Derek Kerstetter. Then you have Patrick Hudson, who could come in and win either starting guard spot but is still recovering from injury. The bottom line is that there seems to be some better depth along the OL than there was in 2017. Now it’s just up to Herb Hand to pick the best 5 to send out there vs Maryland. – (Andrew) – Fast Five: Spring practice notes. As usual, we have more notes on the donor site, here are five which we feel you’ll enjoy: – Kris Boyd seems really relaxed on the field and Jason Washington and he were joking around a bunch through drills. Seems they are trying to relax things. – There were a few more drops from WRs and missed targets from QBs than you’d like to see. However, it is the 3rd practice in helmets and pads. I expect them to knock off the rust. – Seems they are working PJ Locke back at NB for right now until they get to Dime. I expect him to work back to safety at Dime. – They are really cross training guys across the OL. Lots of mixing and matching between the RGs, Cs, LGs, and RTs. Basically everyone was running with 1s and 2s and different positions. – It seems the practices are less intense than what I remember last year this time. Coaches have backed off on the yelling… except Naivar. High energy is his default setting. – (Will)
  20. It's really simple. They don't like black people. Evangelicals are among the most racist people I have ever had the displeasure of meeting. Back in the day they at least had to whisper their thoughts when they thought I couldn't hear. Now they're out and saying it freely in the streets as following the rise of the Tea Party they became less fearful of being censured by the general public and with the election of Trump it signified the removal any any need to fear judgment I suppose
