  1. I gotta tell you Derka I think this board is one of the most unique places on the internet. That is really freaking awesome to hear this. I mean of all the things I thought I'd read about on this board, well, this story would not have been one of them. I am thoroughly impressed that you can speak some Amharic. I am learning the language right now. Having to rewire my brain to learn Amharic has been fun. I can pick up accents really quickly so saying the words with an Ethiopian accent has helped me learn it. Fun language to be honest. You're good people @Derka. Ask your friend if he has any places he thinks I should hit up in September. I am going for the entire month to Addis Ababa. Gonna rent a car and see the Blue Nile, the waterfall, the Great Rift Valley among other places. I'd love to hear some ideas to go see while I am there. Maybe you should see about heading over there too.
  2. I come from Jews on my mom’s side of the family. I think it is time to stop listening to this group and let Israel sink or swim without us continually propping them up. Enough is enough. There is more than enough evidence over the last 80 years to show that the “Never Again” phrase apparently doesn’t apply to them committing atrocities against helpless civilians. Quit looking for sympathy if you are going to do the same things to others that were done to you.
  3. I watched her yesterday against NY. She comes out and has a really good opening quarter. She even hit a 3 and was not doing her mebound thing and actually passing it back out. They still go into the half down 20 to the best team in the league. That’s to be expected. 3rd quarter they come out and get a couple or three quick baskets and the lead is down to 16. This moron decides to shoulder check one of the Liberty players to the floor right after a made basketball. They went from down 16 to down 35 in just a few minutes. Seems like that ridiculous flagrant may have poked the bear into caring about the game again. You just cannot depend on her to not do something dumb.
  4. Well yes I am aware of Butler and the things he was a part of when he was active duty. Really interesting guy whose words should be heeded now more than ever. The destabilization that interests me is what took place after World War II, especially the role played by the CIA, as that was more of a direct influence on what is transpiring right now.
  5. All I can do is shake my head. Those employees deserve all the good luck they can possibly have. We treat the least of these so badly so often.
  6. The best thing I say to these people who are against the illegals in America is that they are here due to decisions made by the United States in the 60’s and 70’s. The unintended consequences are countries that never fully stabilized. We created hell for these people and then have the temerity to not let them seek work and a better life here. That is point blank what evil looks like.
  7. Hypothetical. Could you take it in a 1v1?
  8. My girlfriend is from Ethiopia. I used that phrase the other day and she was laughing pretty hard.
  9. It’s pointless to engage with someone who does not understand a word of what you are saying. You might as well be speaking Swahili right now.
  10. Hot Wheels is a garbage human being.
  11. I don’t disagree with one bit of that. We are going to see lives taken away for no reason. None of this has to be happening, but this is what fascists do. Make a crisis happen where none exists and use brutal force putting down said crisis. It’s disgusting and everyone associated with it needs to be prosecuted when we get to the other side of this. LA I think is going to be wild. It’s a powder keg waiting to explode. TFG would love nothing more than to have that or NYC be the place he gets to mete out some fascist justice. Being a former LA guy you would have far more insight into what people there will do than I would. I’m just someone that has always loved SoCal. I would prefer just seeing peaceful protests, but that is not how this usually goes with a regime like this one that’s trying to emulate the strongman dictator of 20th century Europe.
  12. I spent that summer protesting and had some interesting things I was able to witness in-person in NYC and DC. The difference is the summer is going to see some violent encounters between cops and those protesting. TFG feels enabled right now to do whatever he wants to people he perceives as the enemy. Again this is looking a lot like Italy a century ago.
  13. This will be a summer unlike any in modern American history. We’ll all bear witness to the same abuses of power against our fellow citizens that we have seen in other places around the world. This still has more resemblance to Mussolini’s Italy in the 20’s than anything else. Thank God the people in charge of this three ring circus are complete morons instead of someone like Idi Amin or Stalin that’d just have everyone liquidated for protesting.
  14. I started it late last night. Honestly it’s kinda cool watching the 1st one after seeing the 2nd one. I saw some things already in the first one that I manage in my life that Affleck’s character does as well. I’m excited to watch more when I get home tonight from the beach.
  15. I think the Sky should hire Larry Bird to coach them next season. Larry Legend coaching Reese would be must see TV. Mic him up for every game just for the reactions to all of these ridiculous attempts inside of three feet.
  16. Why is she dressed like she just came inside from a blizzard?
  17. I will take your recommendation on this. The part of not having a relationship with his brother hit home with me, but for different reasons. I will go check out the first one though.
  18. I had fun watching this, but mostly I was curious to see Affleck portraying someone on the spectrum since I am on it. I never saw the first one as that was a time in life where I did not watch many movies, but I enjoyed this one. I saw some of the same things I deal with on a daily basis so I found it interesting overall.
  19. That movie was a good time last night. I always like movies that are set in the snow. They always find fun new ways to kill people. Can’t wait for the next installment in the John Wick universe.
  20. You can hook the OKC call right into my veins. The utter disappointment and sadness those clowns were experiencing in that moment was fantastic.
  21. @Derka gonna need you to find out what’s has happened to UT basketball legend @realgreggym. See if his children are in charge of his ability to post on here. I can’t see any other reason that this all-time great Longhorn would not come back here to admit that he’s a complete and total moron.
  22. Bill Halsey rolling over in his grave.
  23. One Stoops bag o' dicks down and three to go.
  24. As soon as he got the ball I think we all knew he was going to nail it. He should go get a legalized name change to Overrated and have that on his jersey next year. When they were down 15 did anyone think they weren’t going to at least take it down to the wire? This is an incredible run they’re on in this postseason. The right mix of guys doing fun things in clutch moments over and over again.
  25. This was a fun game to watch not only because of the latest ridiculous comeback and Haliburton dagger, but also because there’s no gambling out here. People actually talked about the game and not the money they won or lost. First time in several years that I could talk with someone about the game like that who didn’t want to tell me about their parlay that was 2 points from whatever random player they needed to go over to win a few thousand.
