  1. That should be game right there. Complete meltdown by Calhoun with that fumble in the end zone.
  2. Turnover Calhoun on the pitch. Another short field for Davenport for another TD. This could get out of hand pretty quickly if they don’t score on this drive.
  3. Davenport with an easy score off of a muffed punt. Two weeks in a row that the opponent’s special teams are handing the Wolves free points.
  4. If Davenport would hang onto the football this game would already be out of reach. They get a big play out of the passing game, have Calhoun’s defense on their heels and they run the ball the next play inside the 10 and fumble. Just throw the ball in that situation. Instead Calhoun gets that incredible touchdown run three plays later. Kinda thought Davenport would be susceptible to giving up big plays because of their lack of size on defense, but credit to a undermanned Calhoun team for hanging around so far.
  5. There’s several really good movies out right now. The pendulum is swinging back in the direction away from comic book movies because of over saturation of the genre. This movie will probably not be liked by historians and amateur historians. Scott made it really clear this wasn’t going to be a movie for those people. It makes the complaining a bit of a head-scratcher from that group of folks.
  6. I am guessing the QB for Collinsville still went over 5000 yards for the season. He needed around 150 yards through the air to pull that off.
  7. 30 years ago two of those three were in 3A and were very, very bad at football. I remember that Lampasas beat Lake Travis 63-16 that year and played a group on offense for the 4th quarter called Roy’s Boys. This involved our starting DT playing tailback and we still scored a TD. Drip was not much better and lost 44-15 that year to the Badgers. Another true story that happened because of that game with Lake Travis is this. Troy Rogers (Current Lampasas head coach and former North Shore OC), the 3A Offensive MVP was 2nd team all-district because Lake Travis and one other school wouldn’t vote for him in the all-district meeting because of how bad they were beaten.
  8. I’m big on riding the subway, LIRR or Metro-North. Amtrak as well, but I also enjoy airplane trips. I love trains though and they’re all relaxing to me. Never have wanted to ride in a helicopter.
  9. Looks like he’s hanging out on his off days with Harden. So far in his young career he has not shown much in the way of leadership qualities. Tonight he announced that after a winless month they “Got their swag back” in a loss to the Knicks. I have a feeling this guy is going to be one of those players who scores a lot on a whole bunch of bad teams because somebody has to be the leading scorer even on the teams on the bottom rungs of the ladder.
  10. Anyone out there who thinks kids either have not seen stuff like this with their friends or talk about it is just in denial. There are times I have been on the subway here and you hear kids that look like they are in elementary school talk about “adult topics”. Kids are not shocked by any of these scenes. Not in the least.
  11. I got 99 problems, but a hundred year old Kissinger ain’t one.
  12. I thought that Franz Wagner could perhaps use the FIBA World Cup as a coming out party for how good he is. Then the Germans go and win the whole darn thing. Not shocked at all to see him get the Magic off to such a nice start. If he could hit the boards a little more often that’d be nice, but to be as good as he is at 22 is pretty impressive.
  13. I listened to that clip and again I will say that it really gets under my skin that this is what people will think most people on the spectrum are like. He is absolutely, positively the worst representative that any of us on the spectrum could have. He is a drug addled mess. That was the ramblings from someone whose mind has gone squarely off the deep end and is never coming back and yet he has enormous sway in the world.
  14. A horrific person who brought so much harm to so many folks around the world is gone. Goodbye and good riddance. The world needs far less people like him and so many more like Mrs. Carter.
  15. In a week where Rosalynn Carter is laid to rest I think the best thing to do is just forget that Kissinger ever existed. He is in the dustbin of history. Mrs. Carter had more kindness in her pinky finger than that man had in his entire body. It’s just better to remember that kind people who made a positive difference while putting the horrors guys like this in a file cabinet, taking the file cabinet and throwing it to the bottom of the Mariana Trench to forever be forgotten.
  16. I read Toll’s trilogy this summer. It was fantastic. He’s local to me here in New York so I hope to catch him doing a Q&A. He and James Hornfischer (RIP) both have excellent books. Wish Hornfischer had not succumbed to cancer two years ago or he would’ve had many more books on the Pacific War. I am probably more partial to writers born after the war or that wrote well after the war ended like John Toland. I will still likely read his life’s work at some point.
  17. He had one this year that was unfortunate, The Retirement Plan, but they paid him so he did it. This was the opposite of that. That was funny. Any actor that can make fun of themselves like he did in that movie is cool by me.
  18. The Galloping Ghost and company want their offense back where it belongs at in the Roaring 20’s. I feel that in an alternate timeline Ferentz and his failson are coaching football at Ohio State and setting every offense record in the book. Instead, in this one they are trying to make people appreciate some good old-fashioned scrums where fancy things like double reverses or throwing a screen pass is frowned upon.
  19. Dream Scenario with Nic Cage was really, really good. The last movie I saw of his was just a cash grab, but this was some great acting from Cage. Really was just a fantastic performance.
  20. The amount of complaining that would be contained in this thread if this film were 3 plus hours would be incredible. I would have been cool with the movie going to three and a half hours to include more material. I look forward to the director’s cut when it comes out.
  21. So many places is right! In an alternate universe I sit behind a desk and go out to eat often. In this one being around restaurants so much gives me pause on going out. Being noise averse means that if I want a quiet meal I better find a really out of the way place or buck up and go and spend 150 a person for some decent fine dining. I will just continue to follow your tour of restaurants to see all the great offerings from here.
  22. The Strand is really cool. I do B&N because of the membership and minimal walking to the Q or 6 line. Union Square was the first place I came to in the city so I love it there. They have a cool farmer’s market that’s still going. I’ve bought some stuff there before to make salsa. Bryant Park gets so crowded this time of year and they charge more for stuff there because of all the tourists. Union is more laid back and quiet in comparison, which is really nice.
  23. Bryant Park a few days ago. I was at the library right behind it and came out to walk around afterwards.
  24. Both are fun. I like to go to Bryant Park for free skating and then some coffee after. Union Square is where I go to sit and read at Barnes and Noble and check out the market later in the day.
  25. I live 1500 miles from the nearest family member. I called my mom on Thanksgiving and talked to her and my 19 month old nephew and 4 year old niece. That was all the family I needed to talk to. Probably get my mom up here for a couple of weeks next month and again that’ll be enough of my family. My mom can come whenever she wants and it’s always a great time when she is here visiting.
