  1. I spent a bit of time in the last week sharing some of what I know about history with a couple of younger people. It was kinda cool to see the light go on for each of them in learning some things they did not really know anything about. I think that all of you are really intelligent folks. If you are not having a great day find someone else that is not as well and teach them something they know very little about. It’ll make you feel better and you will have made someone else’s day better by educating them about something new. There are days where I’d just assume not leave my apartment or talk to anyone. I’ll do it because I do not know who I will meet or what I may learn about this great big world from someone else.
  2. Look on the bright side. You won’t have a shortage of friends here to represent you in court when one of Elmo’s Nazi taxis gives you the Hot Wheels treatment.
  3. Why not both? ASU looks like they’ll spend money as well. Put them back in the Big XII and they’d still never win the conference. The annual loss to Tech would be fantastic to watch. The Pirate would definitely be swinging his sword in the afterlife every year after that game.
  4. I get that it is still a high usage platform around the world and perhaps there is some merit in not ignoring it altogether. I personally have never had an account on there because to me it seemed like something that would not be an enjoyable experience to use it. I do agree that attention is the main currency in politics. I can keep up with AOC on Instagram when she does a live chat. Crockett does them as well. I appreciate their candor and honesty and I feel they make effective use of social media in a good way. There are others as well, but those are just a couple of examples of Democrats who understand how to reach their constituents and other like-minded people.
  5. He's is pretty cool and if young football players are looking to emulate someone Hunter would be a really good choice. He made that woman's day just by being kind and well mannered. I read a story about his background recently and this is exactly who he is all of the time according to those who know him the best. I have no team in the NFL so I'll just watch his games and hope he does well playing both ways.
  6. They're just now learning his patterns? This is the same garbage he's done his entire adult life. He comes in blustering, throws a tantrum and walks out and then later on comes back and agrees to either the same deal or something less than what he started with. Is he negotiating with other people dumber than he is who can't figure out how to negotiate with someone who has the mind of a 6 year old?
  7. Especially the two in the middle.
  8. When I lived in NYC if you took the R to Roosevelt Avenue you’d come out to a neighborhood of nothing but Indians. The people were not rude, but Good Lord the amount of people smoking was like being back in the 1980’s again. Other than that I had no complaints being around Indians. Every culture is different and some ways are good and not so good.
  9. In his feeble mind TFG thinks that we just cut bait with suppliers in China and other countries and then by some form of witchcraft FACTORIES OPEN UP EVERYWHERE IN 'MERICA! His moron cult will go right along with that and be pissed that their local Rust Belt factory hasn't already opened back up to give them a job again. This is why TFG loves uneducated people like himself. It's easy to lie to them and they won't realize they're being played. It'll always be the fault of some Radical Democrat.
  10. I should add @Derka that this is how a fascist regime works. You constantly feed your cult new and exciting ways you have improved their lives. You do it over and over and over. People outside the cult can see our lives are not improving monetarily or otherwise, but a cult member only hears or reads the words of their leader and believes them. This is the part where he is really revving up the cult while he is busy lining his own pockets with our money as well as companies, or countries in the case of Qatar, to stay on his good side.
  11. Nothing, absolutely nothing. It’s propaganda to keep the cult happy. TFG will be pocketing some money on this somehow, but Americans won’t see any benefit. It’s kinda how he has operated for his entire adult life.
  12. I always used to tell tourists to take the subway to the AirTrain to avoid paying for the overpriced cabs and Ubers if time wasn’t a factor for them.
  13. Our propaganda news channels combined with facebook, twitter and like-minded people getting together has made this mess. It is absolutely a disease of the mind and doctors and psychologists will be studying this for decades. A lot of people we know have fallen victim to this cult. The sad part is listening to people who don't realize they are being played for a fool and became an easy mark. It was not easy for us to get to this point and it won't be easy to get through this, but I think as a society we are strong enough to do it. When I think about what is happening and what kind of strength we'll need as individuals I refer back to a Civil Rights icon in John Lewis. When you read about what happened to him, not just Bloody Sunday, but the entirety of his experience during the Civil Rights movement it reminds that we can push back against fascism the same way he pushed back against racism and the lack of equal rights. He got tossed in jail so many times and was treated like he was not even a human being. That man had every right to hate America, but he loved this country so much that he spent the last 34 years of his life in Congress trying to make this a better place. We can have that same energy he had. He got in good trouble. We can do that too. I don't want my 6 year old niece and 3 year old nephew to grow up in a country run by hateful, racist white nationalists. Many of you have kids and grandkids now. They don't deserve that either. They deserve a country that is for everyone and not just white people. We gotta just do better. This sucks. There is no way to say otherwise, but we have so many really smart people in this community that can make positive contributions right now to fight back. Stay the course on this and eventually the tide turns and they all get washed away into the dustbin of history.
  14. People have either got to know their history or someone has to educate them. Around here we have a great grasp of history and understand that none of this lasts. Every single day I will educate at least one person on history because it’s what I love. I can tell folks the similarities with what has happened in the past and give a rough outline of what will happen in this version of America. Outside of that the best thing all of us can do is you talk to people. Take the knowledge of history that you have and use it for good. You never know what person you are speaking to and how your single interaction with them could change their life for the better. Even if you do not want to make a living telling people about history just get out there. Every little bit of education and knowledge you give to someone is helpful. We will come out of this, but until then you just prepare people for what they will see happen and how to deal with it.
  15. If you’re white and need a flight you’re alright with ‘Merica.
  16. Linda McMahon used it as well recently. It’s laughable.
  17. He’s an illiterate moron when it comes to history. A reporter needs to ask him where India is located on a map. Where is Pakistan? He has no idea. If one of his Nazi advisors told him they are fighting because of an ancient bushido code violation he’d repeat it not knowing how insanely dumb and wrong that statement would be.
  18. The Canadian rivalry part of this series is fun. Murray definitely wants to prove he's the better baller in games that matter. The glorified exhibition schedule that is the NBA regular season can remain the domain of SGA until he does anything of note in the playoffs.
  19. The professor and director of my degree program could probably answer that for you. Google Yan Mann. He is Ukrainian I believe and he knows his stuff on Stalin. He would be my absolute go to on anything related to Stalin.
  20. I would agree violence does not need to be promoted. I want all of these people to live to see the inside of a prison cell once the country breaks free of the grip of fascism. I will continue to make fun of them during the journey back to a sane world.
  21. Mexican food here is, well, it’s Mexican food. Trying to find a good place though. If I find a sign that’ll make you rage I won’t be posting it. I will just tell them the internet is upset at their use of the apostrophe.
  22. Bill Gates saying that is just, well, idiotic. He’s a self-centered moron, a rich one, but a moron nonetheless. Going to rich people for their thoughts on humanity is like going to aggy for advice on fielding a national championship caliber football team. Both are pointless endeavors.
  23. Tell me the name of this place so I can see if it still exists.
  24. This will all be totally legal and totally cool. For those of you that really enjoy college sports get ready to see schools pay a grifter tax to stay on the good side of the president.
  25. Juan might not think this is normal, but in an authoritarian state it is. Roughing up a teenage girl will be the least horrible thing someone does during one of these roundups over the next four years. Just wait until there are “accidental” shootings and killings during these arrests. That will also be part of the new normal in our authoritarian state.
