  1. The last one shows just how bad the Ferrari eats it’s tyres. Both Leclerc and Sainz have had massive drop off at the end of their stints ever since TD 39 went into effect after summer break. They can still match RB’s pace on most tracks like they could in the first half, but their tyres fall off like crazy while RB seem to be able to make their tyres last forever.
  2. All that is true, but the coaching has been a bigger issue the last two years. Look at how terrible our DTs played last year compared to this year.it’s the exact same guys. This coaching staff wanted them to two gap and read and react, which is not what any of them do best. It made our DTs look way worse than they were. People said all offseason we didn’t have any DL talent, but it turns out we had a ton of talent at DT, it just didn’t look like it because PK failed to identify their skill set. If you look at the defense as a whole, there’s only one starter this year who wasn’t on the team last year. While it’s good that our defense has improved this year, it’s also a sign of what a terrible coaching job the staff did last year. They chose to play guys like BJ Foster, Schooler, Brockermeyer and Bush all year long. There’s no doubt our defensive talent sucked last year, but the coaching staff still massively underperformed. And we have a few talent issues on defense this year, namely edge, but that’s also the coaching staff’s fault for failing to address that two years in a row. We have the talent to be playing way better on defense than we are. The talent issues are definitely a big problem but, this coaching staff hasn’t coached anywhere near to the talent level they have.
  3. I don’t think there’s any way they can afford to buyout Jimbo and his assistants and pay buyouts and salaries for a new coach and his assistants by the end of next year. That would mean having to have around $40 million in cash within a few months plus paying a new coach top of the market salary while also paying Jimbo $7mm per year. Unless of course they issue some more bonds for the stadium or Sharpe finds 8 figures of disaster relief funds just sitting around somewhere.
  4. Strong had a good D for one year when it wasn’t his guys. Our defenses were terrible from there on. He was nowhere near just a good OC away from being good. And the primary issue with our defense the last two years haven’t been talent. Both defenses would have to be performing at a much higher level before talent becomes the limiting factor. on top of that, PK is a terrible recruiter, so some of the talent deficiency is on him. We needed to pull a guy like Sanders from the portal, but PK couldn’t get the job done. Our coaching on D has been shit for two years now. the problem is way more on the side of coaching than talent. Patterson is not our DC, and he’s not functioning in that role. If GP was actually the DC in function, our defense would look very different. We have PK as our DC and it’s a problem, just like it was last year.
  5. Holy shit. +200 is insanely low odds for a guy who’s owed over $80 million if fired. Usually the next coach fired odds don’t go under about +350 and that’s without record-setting buyout amounts.
  6. He’s extremely busy right now. He’s been on the phone all week trying to see if there’s still time to cancel his order of 1,000 Texas A&M 2022 National Champ shirts. It’s looking like he’ll probably have to settle for having a credit applied to his order of Texas A&M 2023 National Champ shirts.
  7. This is the key to me. Regardless of why they fire him, he can burn their program to the ground if he wants to and being owed $70+ million is a lot of motivation. If they don’t fire him for cause, then when’s the first time they pull afford to fire him and go moneywhip a new coach? 3 or 4 years from now? Can you imagine the state of their roster by then? Seems like a win-win for us.
  8. I think it’s all going to come down to what happens with his legal case. If charges or dropped or it’s a small plea, then I’m sure he’ll keep playing. If it goes to trial or his plea were to include jail time, then it will be a really bad look and I’d say the University really screwed up letting him keep playing. It’s a bit of a tough situation, because UT has to investigate and try to determine what happened but there’s only so much they can uncover in a domestic dispute. It’s the DA’s job to investigate and determine what crimes his actions warrant, so I don’t think it’s unreasonable to wait to see what they found, but it does look bad if we let him play this whole time and then the DA presents facts of a major assault. At the same time, suspending a guy on social media accusations alone before we know if the DA will even press any charges is also unfair to the player. Ultimately, I hope UT is letting him play because they’ve done their own investigation and determined to the best of their abilities that the situation is not major, but we won’t ever know if that’s what happened unless this thing goes to trial, which is extremely unlikely.
  9. I was talking about them firing him for cause so they wouldn’t have to drum up funds for his buyout. I agree it probably won’t happen, but it’s certainly fun to think about and nothing is really out of the realm of possibility with them. Well that and Jimbo still considers the QB running a failure of his offense.
  10. Not sure what RBs and TEs have to do with our defensive money down rate, but you’re out of your mind if you don’t list DT as one of the strengths of this team. We have one of the best DT rooms in the nation and it’s easily our second best position group after RB.
  11. Yeah, there’s no way Jimbo can spin losing to UF and ultimately missing a bowl in Year 5. At that point they either outspend everyone else massively (probably not even possible) or the wheels really start to fall off the bus and the roster implodes a la Jimbo’s last year at FSU. The real question to me is whether A&M is dumb enough to fire Jimbo by the end of next year. There’s no way Jimbo goes quietly when he’s owed north of $70 million, but aggy is probably dumb and desperate enough to do it anyways.
  12. How exactly do you think those numbers support that Barron has struggled covering guys in the slot? He’s the best man coverage guy on the whole team.
  13. That’s a good chunk of money for Haas. Maybe they’ll actually try developing in-season of this sponsors payments go through.
  14. Our edge and DL class in 2022 were very highly rated. We weren’t taking a bunch of shots on 3 stars there. Next year will be the test for how good they actually area and how much they’ve been developed.
  15. True, but I think that’s also different because they decided it after the race when they knew the ramifications. Same for their decision to give Checo 5 seconds instead of 10 in Singapore.
  16. We’ll still be arguing about the stewards giving out a 1 place penalty for taking a guy completely out of the race, but at least it guarantees an actual punishment for the top three. I’m struggling to think of an instance where a time penalty actually cost a top car a place.
  17. Seems like the real key to betting Texas is home vs. away. Sark is 4-1 covering at home, and 0-2 on the road. Both road games he failed to cover by double digits. Taking KSU at home plus the points definitely seems like the better bet.
  18. The problem with the first punishment is teams would abuse it. If Lewis even touched Checo, RB would retire him immediately. I like the idea of placement penalties better than time. It ensures that you actually punish someone for a violation.
  19. I’m just going to pretend Ferrari didn’t race today. It was awesome seeing Daniel tear through the field. It sucks he’s been so bad at McLaren and that he won’t be on the grid next year. I hope he finds a seat for 2024 and can regain his RB/Renault form.
  20. But the only time they were .4 down in S1 was their last run of Q3, so it’s not just a general issue. Something weird happened on the last run of Q3 for both Ferrari drivers, whether it was DRS or engines.
  21. So both Sainz and Leclerc were .4 down after S1 in Q3. Binotto says Leclerc had a DRS issue, but some reports are that Ferrari’s engines struggled with the thin air and they had to turn them down. Either way, JFC Ferrari, how many different ways can you find to fuck up?
  22. I’ve always disliked George and it’s nice to see I was right about him. He puts up decently fast laps in clean air, but he has terrible race craft. He clumsily hits people way too often and then comes off as an entitled brat when he’s interviewed afterward. Fuck him. Same for Stroll. Im not sure that’s fair to Leclerc at this stage of his career. I’d spike to see him on a competent team before saying he can’t win. He’s made some mistakes, but he also has to deal with an utterly incompetent team that forces him to have to push too hard or dictate his own strategy mid-race. Max and Lewis don’t have to deal with that. Seb went through a similar thing with Ferrari in 2017 and 2018. But I agree he’ll never win a title at Ferrari unless they luck into an utterly dominant car one year.
  23. You should probably try reading the post again. I didn’t say we haven’t improved from last year, which is a hilariously low bar created by Sark’s ineptitude as a coach in 2021. I said we haven’t improved as the season goes on two years in a row.
