Obama: An Intimate Portrait (2017) was worth checking out from the library just to remember so many events from the former President's two terms. Souza took some great, great photos. Almost through with former congressperson (IL) Adam Kinzinger's Renegade, which was released last year. Kinzinger was one of ten Republicans that voted for former President Donald Trump's impeachment (the second one) after the events of January 6th. He was in his office in an adjacent building when the Capitol was breached. Writing is a little stilted (although he had a co-author).

Jimmyjazz speaks truth. This is not something new. In addition, the bill to which the former speaker refers was passed in 2022 in the House but languished in the Senate due to stalling by the GOP. March 22 marks the date (52 years ago) that single women were "given" the right to use birth control by SCOTUS ( 1972 Eisenstadt v. Baird). Prior to that, it was only married women who had the legal right to obtain and use birth control (due to Griswold v. Connecticut in 1965). Ironic that the word control is and always has been about who is "allowed" to wield it.

Also, Tara Davis-Woodhall leaps 7.07 meters winning gold in the long jump, the former Longhorn was joined on the podium by American Monae' Nicholas who finished second.

FIFY, brevity.

That would be an interesting dilemma especially with NIL and the portal growing in importance over the last year. There are 14,780 black males playing DI football along with 10,939 white males, and 5003 males who fit other demographic categories (two or more races, native american, etc). If you shrink that to just FBS schools with autonomy (the power schools), then those numbers are: 3923 (black), 2999 (white), and 1,472 (other incl two or more races etc).

From the World Indoor Championships in Glasgow, outdoor world record holder Ryan Crouser has a new title to add to his collection: Shot Put Indoor Champion. With his best toss of 22.77m setting a championship record, Crouser earns first place and receives a little redemption from two years earlier when he set a championship record toss of 22.44m only to be bested by Brazilian Darlan Romani with 22.53m. Way to go Ryan Crouser!

CDC report as of 2/29 has 41 cases across 16 states. Texas is not listed as one of the states, so I would be interested to know if the cases at Texas Childrens are confirmed and if so, why the CDC has not got them listed.

Elon Musk: Nazi traitor piece of shit [Confirmed]
Mrs Whiggins replied to MaybeACoordinator's topic in Daily Texan
In Elon's mind, this makes sense to him (the 'never went to therapy' statement). First of all, HE didn't see a therapist for himself. They (WE) went to a marital therapist which wasn't for HIM, it was for THE MARRIAGE, because the first Mrs. Musk suggested (I'm guessing) it. So HE never went to therapy. Second, if he didn't participate in the marital therapy it was because it was not as cut and dried as "I'm right and she's wrong," and thus he has never been to therapy because the word therapy comes from the Modern Latin word therapia which is derived from the Greek word therapeia which meant "curing, healing, service done to the sick" and Elon does not ever consider himself sick in that way. In Elon's world, his mind is obviously not in need of therapy nor an implant because it is perfect. -
Of the four books I've read recently, (Burn It Down, Opinions, What Are The Seven Wonders Of The World, and God Save Texas); it's been brought to my attention (family dinner table conversation) that I've got a rather eclectic taste in reading materials but I'm taking that as a compliment. Of the four most recent, I've liked the last two the best. I'm set to read former WH photographer Pete Souza's pretty book Obama: An Intimate Portrait (2017) on former president Barack Obama next. I've been wanting to grab that one from the library for a while. What a job that must be, to photograph presidents.

Hmm, I haven't seen that in the news yet. That's not great.

The front that came through this week had some very strong winds from way north down to Texas. It just accelerates and dries as it blows.

Florida has a total of ten cases as of today. Nine in the county of the initial first report and one in another county by an individual (adult) who was traveling internationally.

If the microplastics are in the placenta and eventually in the babies' cells then why don't babies float when you throw them in the water?

That's human trafficking of minors across state lines, my good sir. I suggest you reconsider that proposal. However, if you establish a facility in Texas, and have it *accredited by the Texas Private School Accreditation Commission (TPSAC) as a private boarding school (No registration, licensing, or approval required) and you could wire up some speakers to pipe in some classical bro-country music to the freezers and you're likely good to go. Talk to one of your CPA people--you might be able to do this tax free. *I think on the TSBOE site accrediting is optional as well, really. Texas is shitastic for education.

I saw Mayor Woodfin's (of Birmingham) comments regarding Alabama and I don't know the logistics of his idea but I support it.

The start lists for the upcoming NCAA DI Indoor Track Championships are out. Barring medical scratches, this should be complete. I'll list the Longhorn athletes along with a few other schools that have competitive team numbers for comparison. If UT has no entries in an event, again, I will list a few other entries (usually top five ranked, a school in Texas, or top athlete based on mark). If I bold a school's name then one of their athletes has the top mark this season. So not a complete list per event. Apologies for omissions or other errors. WOMEN 60m (prelim): No Longhorn entries. Other schools with entries: LSU (1), Arkansas (1), Florida (1), Oregon (1), Texas Tech (3) 200m (prelim): KEVONA DAVIS, other schools: Oregon (1), LSU (1), Texas Tech (1) Arkansas (4) 400m (prelim): DEJANEA OAKLEY, other schools: Texas A&M (1), Arkansas (5) 800m (prelim): No Longhorn entries. Other schools: Okla State (1), Washington (2), Arkansas (2) Mile run (prelim): No Longhorn entries. Other schools: Okla State 91), Washington (1), Oregon (2) 3000m (final): No Longhorn entries. Other schools: Oregon (1), Florida (2), Okla State (2) 5000m (final): No Longhorn entries. Other schools: Florida (1), Okla State (2) 60m Hurdles (prelim): EMELIA CHATFIELD, Other schools: Arkansas (1), Florida (1), LSU (2) 4X400m Relay: TEXAS, other schools: Arkansas, LSU, Oregon, Texas A&M, South Carolina. Arkansas and South Carolina have the top two times this season. DMR: No Longhorn entry. Other schools: Washington, Okla State, Oregon, Arkansas, Florida Field Events: High Jump: No Longhorn entries. Other schools: Arkansas (1), Texas A&M (1), Texas Tech (1) Pole Vault: No Longhorn entries. Other schools: Texas A&M (1), Washington (2) Long Jump: ACKELIA SMITH, AALIYAH FOSTER; other schools: ARKANSAS (1), FLORIDA (1), TEXAS A&M (1) Triple Jump: ACKELIA SMITH, other schools: Okla State (1), Texas Tech (2) Shot Put: NINA NDUBUISI, CHRYSTAL HERPIN, MARILYN NWORA; other schools: Florida (1), Oregon (1) Weight Throw: No Longhorn entries. Jalani Davis of Ole Miss has the top mark of 25.09m. Discus: Just kidding. Wanted to see if anyone was reading the entries. Indoor Pentathlon: KRISTINE BLAZEVICA, other schools: Okla State (1), Oregon (1) MEN 60m (prelim): MARCELLUS MOORE, other schools: Arkansas (1), USC (2), Texas Tech (5) 200m (prelim): No Longhorn entries. Other schools: Arkansas (1), Texas Tech (2), 400m (prelim): BRIAN HERRON, other schools: USC (1), Texas Tech (1), Texas A&M (1), Baylor (1) 800m (prelim): YUSUF BIZIMANA, COLE LINDHORST, other schools: Washington (1) Mile (prelim): No Longhorn entries. Other schools: Northern Arizona (1), Washington (2) 3000m (final): No Longhorn entries, other schools: Washington (1), Northern Arizona (3), Okla State (3) 5000m (final): No Longhorn entries. other schools: Okla State (2), Arkansas (3), Northern Arizona (3) 60m Hurdles (prelim): No Longhorn entries. other schools: Arkansas (1), USC (1), Texas Tech (2), Texas A&M (2) 4X400m Relay: TEXAS, other schools: Arkansas, USC, Texas Tech, Texas A&M DMR: No Longhorn entry; other schools: Northern Arizona, Washington, Oklahoma State, Arkansas Field Events: High Jump: SAM HURLEY, other schools: Arkansas (1), Texas A&M (1), Texas Tech (2) Pole Vault: No Longhorn entries. Other schools: Washington (2) Long Jump: No Longhorn entries. Other schools: Arkansas (1), Washington (1), USC (2) Triple Jump: KELSEY DANIEL, other schools: Northern Arizona (1) Shot Put: No Longhorn entries. Other schools: Arkansas (1) Weight Throw: JEREMIAH NUBBE, other schools: Northern Arizona (1), Texas Tech (1), Washington (1) Heptathlon: LEO NEUGEBERGER, other schools: Washington (1), Arkansas (4) Comments--The reasoning behind listing some of the higher ranked schools number of qualifiers is, as you can suspect, each of those entries represents the possibility of points. While individual schools can throw a wrench into the works, the more athletes that one has in prelims, the greater chance to move on to the final and score. A lot can happen, however, and track meets are like a 3 ring circus with a little something to watch wherever one looks. Best of luck to the competitors and hoping for a lot of records to fall and personal bests earned.

Good question. Perhaps, but also if he was able to qualify in individual events there's more potential points to be earned. If an athlete qualifies, the coach can review the list and scratch if it doesn't look like it will work or is worthwhile (I think). The hep would be ten points and he's number one in that right now, but making the finals in two more events could gain the team anywhere from one to ten more points per event, not including specialists who would likely place higher. For example, in the long jump, he placed first so that was 10 points, while *Jathan Belaire placed second for 8 more points. If he was able to do that at Indoors, that's 20 points just for Neugebauer. Shotput wasn't as successful, but I also don't know if he's working through some things. Neugebauer was already a likely qualifier for both the LJ and the Hep, and ultimately it could be that Coach Floréal is looking toward national more than conference along with an athlete's health. Earlier it was mentioned that this is an Olympic year and thus, a long season that can be very hard on the body. *Jathan Belaire's 7.67m in the long jump, while good, is probably not high enough on the qualifying list at this time to make the cut.

When I was in high school I read a lot of Raymond Chandler; I should go back and reread them. Back then (hs) the mystery/detective genre was something I really enjoyed diving into when school work or teen drama was ugh. Dashiell Hammett, too, but also the great Agatha Christie and for some reason I really enjoyed Martha Grimes (she wrote the Richard Jury books named after pubs and I wanted to run away and marry Melrose Plant, because he was witty and smart and high school girls are like that sometimes.) and P.D. James (police commander Adam Dalgleish).

Elon Musk: Nazi traitor piece of shit [Confirmed]
Mrs Whiggins replied to MaybeACoordinator's topic in Daily Texan
After reading the explanation, I think I understand your point(s). It's a multitude of things combined with $$, with certain entities not wanting to offend anyone's sensibilities whereas others are seeking plausible deniability at every turn. And it all occurs at warp speed with what seems to be little care or thought. Here is a (to me) disturbing article about Gab's AI and reading to the end (five minute read), Torba (CEO) states: (spoilered just in case it verges on CR) Article link:https://www.wired.com/story/gab-ai-chatbot-racist-holocaust/ -
Latest USTFCCCA poll is out (Week 6) MEN 1. Texas Tech 2. Arkansas 3. NAU 4. Florida 5. Washington 6. USC 7. Texas 8. Nebraska 9. Alabama 10. Houston The Longhorn men's team stayed at #7 and for the most part the other teams flipped around some but not a lot of movement. Texas Tech went back to the top spot, but they had a very good Big 12 meet, while Texas struggled in some areas. Washington has no national leaders, but they do have top ten marks in multiple events which is what is keeping them high scoring. After Texas, the scoring drops off quite a bit... WOMEN 1. Arkansas 2. Florida 3. Texas 4. OSU 5. Oregon 6. Ole Miss 7. USC 8. Washington 9. Texas Tech 10. LSU Arkansas has outdistanced everybody at the moment, but the Longhorn women are hanging tough. They moved back up the rankings (#7 last week) due to a stellar Big 12 Championship team win and it will take at least that much and then some to grab the Indoor title. Lists for qualifying are due sometime later today.

I am about halfway through and enjoying God Save Texas. While I understand @GreenspointTexas comment about namedropping (from the Texas books thread); it works for me because it gave me some new areas to explore in the future. I enjoyed his short bit on LBJ, as well as Ann Richards and Molly Ivins. I need to read more about the last two. Bold, smart, and sassy, where are those rabblerouser types today in Texas?

Believe me; Elonsplaining is not something women are unfamiliar with it's just a different recipe for the same sauce.
