  1. She was a founding member of her home county's Tea Party in Indiana. She co-sponsored a bi-partisan bill with Pramila Jayapal (D, Washington), the Stop Anti-Competitive Healthcare Act asserting that hospital mergers were creating monopolies.
  2. Not in a true ranked order but all ones I'll watch anytime: 1. Bad News Bears (original) 2. Major League and Bull Durham 3. Breaking Away 4. Slap Shot 5. Moneyball Also hard to leave off: Hoosiers, The Sandlot, The Replacements, A League of Their Own, Rocky, Ford vs. Ferrari (finally saw this and loved it), Bend It Like Beckham, Chariots of Fire, McFarland USA, Cinderella Man. I may have gone a little overboard cause I can think of a lot I really like.
  3. My word, I've got a bright blue tarp I keep stowed in the back of my little Honda for when I need to haul mulch or other messy stuff that looks better than that $3000 dollar Harbor Freight disaster. I think it cost me <20 dollars give or take a few.
  4. I haven't followed either thread, but I'm pretty sure this thread and the psychedelic thread are something Egon warned everyone about.

  7. I believe the proper term is one mojo dojo casa hotel room.
  8. I've got cocktails ready to go on the ledge; would you like a Necromancer, a Corpse Reviver #2, an Undertaker, or a Suffering Bastard? (the first two are my faves of the four).
  9. Big Dan Rodimer doesn't know how to beach properly.
  10. Bombas should give her a call. I switched to their socks for running back when they first started and someone sent me a pair. Not cheap socks but I'm a fan.
  11. No he doesn't. Not really. He didn't raise as much as his opponent, but he's just pulling the usual grift because if he pulls any money he can use that as a 'see, even Democratic voters like me'. Texas will keep him in office because the majority will just click on his name w/o a second thought.
  12. Damn that Senator is useless. He's a fucking incumbent for a decade and instead of actually having policy or legislation to tout that he's helped Texans with, all he has is the same sales pitch that never strays from the useless talking points.
  13. After a slight change in the schedule, tomorrow begins the NCAA DI Indoor Track Championships with the Men's and Women's Weight throw. Jeremiah Nubbe of Texas will be competing. He has the fourth best seed time. Then on Friday, the events begin in earnest with a slate of heptathlon events, numerous prelims, plus a few distance finals.
  14. I had an El Camino Hot Wheels car that I "borrowed" from my older brother. That little car could fly down a side by side straight piece of track and won the neighborhood head-to-head races with other kids (I loved Hot Wheels cars when I was a little kid). It even had a tiny bed cover in the back that lifted up. It kind of looked like this one below only it was dark green. I have no idea where he got it but likely a garage sale cause my folks used to pick up a lot of toys that way. He had a shoe box full of cars.
  15. Matt? Matt? You might want to reconsider tweeting about exploited children in the same paragraph as schools...
  16. I thought everyone knew that? He didn't exactly hide it back then.
  17. In Michigan, health officials are scrambling due to two adults with confirmed measles diagnoses visited several facilities attempting to get treatment. The contact tracing at the health facilities was somewhat easier due to visitors usually checking in with name and other information, but the adults also visited a CVS as well and thus everyone is crossing fingers that more cases don't crop up there. Here is a letter to the editor in the Tampa Bay times from a 92 year old reader who had the measles long ago: https://www.tampabay.com/opinion/2024/03/06/i-had-measles-86-years-ago-dr-ladapo-heres-what-my-life-has-been-like-letters/
  18. This just cracks me up for more than one reason but the main one is that when I spent some time living in a northern state, I made a pretty good sum from selling my "southern" used car because it was in good shape: properly maintained and most importantly: NO RUST because I had been domiciled where there was no snow and no road salt. Now Elonstans are buying a vehicle that acquires rust (and eventually corrodes) if it gets wet, salt not necessary. Yeesh. Talk about buying an automobile from the carnival midway. Clown show. Also: here is the fact check regarding the airline flights referred to by disingenuous political and billionaire malcontents and dupes (spoilered because it mentions the President and thus may trigger some people who are CR sensitive)
  19. I've been rather teetotally lately because I've been trying to keep the BP low but it was nice to have some wine with dinner tonight. Meatloaf leftovers and a couple of glasses of red and away we go...
  20. That's on my list but I'm a high number on the library holds for it so I'll have to wait my turn. About 3 chapters in on this one, At The Existentialist Cafe: Freedom, Being, and Apricot Cocktails by Sarah Bakewell. I have zero background in philosophy and a post by @safe sex that mentioned Sartre intrigued me so here I am.
  21. My older brother did this but he became a programmer with HP and EDS. Wicked smart.
  22. It was indeed; it's also a matter of perspective because my experience with an unwanted assault by a stranger was different. Had he kissed his fiance and thanked the nurse, the photo might not have happened, but if the late Nurse Friedman was forgiving of the moment, then I am willing to consider her perspective as well.
  23. Your last sentence was what drove Adam Kinzinger to vote for the second impeachment, only one of ten Republicans to do so. (Just finished his book that came out last year). Kinzinger served in the military and was aghast at the betrayal of the oath of office. He paid for his vote by being shunned, but it was the right thing to do. Edit addition: that was not the only reason for the vote, but the entire event resonated with him because of the significance of the certification.
  24. Back story that is not germane to the thread title of CRT at UT, but then again, what Rufo has amplified is not germane to CRT either:
