  1. Raising sub pay won't really attract new subs, but it will encourage those already on the sub list to go ahead and pick up the job. Some subs only like to sub certain days or for certain subjects so they'll pass on other jobs. Higher pay could encourage them to not be as selective.
  2. Nope, or if I have I've never shown any symptoms and I've never tested positive. It's pretty surprising to me as well. I teach in a public school that is currently getting slammed with it. I know I've had 10-15 kids in my room that have had it. I have coworkers that I interact with daily get it. My wife is also a teacher. I have been booster jabbed, and I try to keep to myself as much as possible. So far the jabs plus my veteran teacher immunity has held up.
  3. Cowboys would be a lot better if they knew the rules of the game.
  4. Missed opportunity. Should have ended with "swiftly"
  5. That has to be the most "Cowboy fan" picture in history. Or at least for the post early 90s era.
  6. Did 94 think that was the ball carrier???
  7. I have and it's the same. Surly gonna surly.
  8. All the complaining about refs is the textbook definition of confirmation bias.
  9. A Longhorn leading the league in something!
  10. Gonna have to go rent a Rug Doctor machine.
  11. I'd like to upgrade but I don't even want to try. I went through all of that to get a Series X. So I'm just gonna get by primarily playing that and keep my computer as is for a few more years.
  12. I had 21% of my students absent today. We are a big district so there hasn't been any talk of closure yet. But subs are stretched very thin. Dozens of the central admin staff are out in the schools substitute teaching, principals and counselors are subbing in classrooms. And even then we have to combine classes for lack of subs.
  13. 21% of my students were absent today. Good thing we're in the middle of the most important content of the entire year!
  14. I didn't know Michael Washington was in this. I gotta check it out. He was in my high school graduating class. You could tell back then in school plays he would make a career out of acting. His class president graduation speech was hilarious.
  15. I saw an old lady hit the gas instead of the brakes and plow into a CiCi's pizza store front. Glass went everywhere. Nobody was hurt though, unless you count the GI tracts of the people eating.
  16. They can slow hospitalizations and deaths for sure. That's the point.
  17. Quite a few of the smaller school districts in the North Texas area are closing for a few days, primarily due to staff shortages and not enough subs. Larger districts like mine have so far been able to stay open, but the substitute system is getting stretched real thin, and we are dealing with lots of bus delays. Substitute bus drivers aren't exactly readily available in the best of times. Kid cases are way up, but most kids seem to shake it off after a few days. Staff shortages and subs are going to be the primary reason for any school closures.
  18. It's slamming my school pretty hard. I've had 10-15% of my kids absent every day since we got back from Winter break. I'll get some of them back and then new ones are out.
  19. I appreciate Buccees when I'm road tripping while pulling my camper RV. Easy to get a trailer in and out of the pumps, a million reliably clean toilets, and a hot sandwich ready to go. I don't understand buying Buccees branded tshirts or any of the other merchandise, but a fast road trip pit stop is appreciated
  20. Or, alternatively the ice formed under a constant wind.
