Either Gen Z is trolling or polling is only picking up a specific conservative group bc none of that is going to happen

also factor in that there are more registered dems than registered gop, especially in certain areas.  so to make up for that, they oversample (or undersample) certain demographics or parties, or they inflate/deflate the numbers on each side to make it seem like they polled each side equally.  this takes a small sample size and gives it even more potential variance.  to say nothing of the trolls or people who think it's more fun to fuck with pollsters than to not fuck with pollsters, because it probably is.

maga broke the polls.  they haven't been ~reliable since 2016.

That will always be the case on any topic that is completely subjective.  It's certainly interesting to me to see what OTHER people find "great" or iconic.  I'd say I probably agree with about 70% of the scenes posted so far, and vehemently disagree with several as well.

too much sean astin, but overall i agree.

  3. this thread is a combination of "greatest", "most iconic", and "favorite" movie scenes, which is fine.  everything is subjective and there isn't a known greatest movie scene, so why not.  here are a few i enjoy, but i traditionally like talkies.

    January stats from Nielsen

    https://www.nielsen.com/insights/2024/colder-weather-and-nfl-playoffs-drive-increased-tv-usage-in-january/

    doesn't include the super bowl

Most streamed show on netflix was something called "Fool Me Once." On Disney+, it was "Bluey" and on prime it was "Reacher." "Fool Me Once" was streamed for ~50% more total minutes than "Reacher" which gives a huge comparison about the value of Netflix vs Prime imo.

so the january stats don't include ratings from a football game played on feb 11th?

Vice has been running a show called Sex Before the Internet lately. Next week's episode is on Girls Gone Wild, we'll see if ol' boy @henrygandorf makes an appearance.

i spoke to a couple of producers over the phone last spring but passed on being involved further, like all the others.  i get one about every 6 months.

    dug up the email...

    Hi HG,

My name is Leila, I know you previously spoke with my colleague Claudia regarding the Girls Gone Wild episode we are working on for the S2 of Sex Before the Internet. I wanted to know if you would be free on Friday or early next week to chat with me on the phone.

I read Claudia's phone call notes with you and have seen Woodstock 99. I know the Limp Bizkit part you mentioned on your call with her and wanting to talk about GGW as part of the symptom of the time; I'm definitely keen on really hammering that home and expanding on the rise of tech, video and sexuality in the episode. I think you provide great insights on that  and would love to chat further with you.

I'm free all day this Friday except from 2-3pm pst, and Monday and Tuesday except noon-2pm pst.

Let me know when you are available within any of those times and I can ring you!

    Thank you again,

    Leila

initially it was part of a different series.  i received this email in 2021:

I hope this email finds you safe and well. My name is Cassie - I'm an associate producer interested in speaking with you for an episode I'm producing on Girls Gone Wild - specifically how it became one of the most successful programs of the decade. This is the second season of a hit series for Vice TV called Dark Side of the 90's.  It's a 10X60 documentary series that looks at specific cultural phenomenon of the decade - like this show - whose story continues to fascinate people in 2021. The series is produced by Insight Productions in Canada and Railsplitter Pictures in New York, and airs on Vice TV.

The 'Dark Side' format is an extremely successful one, and includes the original 'Dark Side of the Ring' along with 'Dark Side of Comedy' and 'Dark Side of Football'. This series is a celebration of the 90s – the good and the bad - and I don't think we can have that discussion without including the tremendous impact Girls Gone Wild had.

I’d love to speak to you to learn more about this - can I set up a time for you to chat with the episode producer and hear more about what we’re hoping to do?

Ultimately, we would love an on-camera interview with you, exploring these topics as well as your personal thoughts and memories of the program.

Attached here is a brief showcase of the topics and talent from our first season:

A joint ABC, CBS, NBC, and FOX streamer could work.  Each network's profit is based on view of their IP.  You only pull 9% of the viewer minutes on the streamer? You get 9% of the profits. Expenses for running the infrastructure is split evenly.  It'd incentivize them all to produce quality content.

that's basically what hulu is/was minus the cbs piece.

It would be one thing if he was trying to do everything himself bc he thinks he’s smarter than everyone and all his lackeys were pure fucking regarded monkeys

we've seen what his cabinet/staff looked like late in 2020.  it's possible that he actually was smarter than everyone in that group.  they didn't set the bar too high.

there are certain centrist republicans i've seen in interviews who understand their policies aren't that far from biden's, who have been trying to turn it into "if you vote for joe you're really voting for kamala and we all know what a nightmare that would be".  shockingly, it isn't catching on.
