  1. after record profits and $75,000,000,000 in stock buybacks, they just don't have any money left for staff. It would be bad business to not fire people!
  2. I would imagine that while Dorsey has custody of the DMs as the operator of Twitter, he wasn't going in and breaking the glass to snoop on accounts. It's bad for business, or at least it is if you're not an apparatus of the State
  3. https://arstechnica.com/health/2025/02/measles-outbreak-doubles-in-one-of-texas-least-vaccinated-counties/ An outbreak of measles in one of Texas' least vaccinated counties continues to rapidly expand, with officials reporting 24 cases Tuesday, up from just nine confirmed on Friday. According to an update by the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS), all 24 cases identified in the two-week-old outbreak are in unvaccinated people. Nine of the patients (37.5 percent) required hospitalization. Most of the cases are in children. DSHS provided an age breakdown that listed six cases as being in infants and young children between the ages of 0 and 4. This is the age group most vulnerable to measles because they have a heightened risk of complications from the disease and may be too young to be fully vaccinated with the Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR) vaccine. Children are recommended to get two doses of the MMR vaccine, one between 12 and 15 months and the second between 4 and 6 years. One dose of MMR vaccine is estimated to be 93 percent effective against measles, while two doses are 97 percent effective. Of the remainder of the 24 cases, 16 were between the ages of 5 and 17, and two were 18 or older.

  8. Holy shit, musks crotch goblin told trump "you are not the president and you need to go away" aeboad3q6rie1DASH_480.mp4 Truly, fucking, insane. If a little kid is saying something like that, he heard it somewhere else and is repeating it. Edit: here's a timestamped YouTube link too, in case you think it's an edit
  9. https://www.cnbc.com/2025/02/12/trump-says-interest-rates-should-be-lowered-to-go-hand-in-hand-with-his-tariffs.html Lowering interest rates while goosing prices with tarrifs is going to slow inflation, right?
  10. I think it's a meat shield kind of situation - he's been doing it since the Angry Luigi incident
  11. An unelected private citizen standing behind the Resolute Desk in the Oval Office interrupting the president to say he doesn't think there should be a judicial branch is pretty fucking wild. Here there be dragons.
  12. Yeah, the executive branch is responsible for carrying out the law as interpreted by the judicial branch. If they're ignoring the judicial, we're waaaaayyyyyy off the map in terms of civics
  13. How about a presidential meme coin? Or you lookin' to spit on that thang?

  20. NextDNS.io
  21. FWIW with all the talk of DNS, I like NextDNS as a paid (like $20/yr) DNS service that does adblocking and filtering. It's basically a hosted pihole that does adblocking everywhere all the time on all my devices, and is a good DNS service to boot

  23. Wow listening to the production podcast while walking my dog this morning - EVERYTHING was practically done. Even Irving's dream sequence! They were out in the Catskills for almost 5 weeks shooting the one episode, and John Tuturro was really actually on the ice yelling up at Adam Scott actually up on the cliff. Crazy. They had to hike 30 minutes out to the cave to shoot the scene where they found the book. Crazy amount of practical effects and production work, really outstanding stuff
