  1. Agreed, and to take it a step further we also ignored the Southern California guys and there was some legitimate interest in Texas from them. I know that Thomas Cole and Austin Barry both had interest in hearing from Texas and right now those kids would both look really good in our class. Cole is one of those late growing former TE guys that this staff covets and seems like a perfect fit for the team and scheme. Barry is a bully that the ASU staff pounced on and right now those are trustable evals. I don't think we need to be aggy and go OOS for every position every year, but we do need to treat Southern California like it's west Texas, and if a player here and there in AZ fits in we need to do that as well. Texas is exciting to those kids. https://247sports.com/Player/Thomas-Cole-46082263/ https://247sports.com/Player/Austin-Barry-46094794/
  2. He doesn't like football and he's been an aggy commit for all intents and purposes since 8th grade. His dad may have dog-and-pony-showed visits and interest but any effort in that recruitment was wasted effort. I love him as well, but as noted above he is a redass from a family of redasses. Aggy had Wykoff and Zuhn just plopped in their laps. They lost some of their other legacy guys but those 2 stuck and they are both really good at a position of dire need. Agreed. Being a college football player is a fucking grind even if you love it. He clearly doesn't love or even like the sport. The ONLY way that he goes anywhere other than tOSU is if tOSU never offers. He was an absolute stone cold lock to tOSU and the RRS had zero impact on that recruitment. It might have had an impact on his decision if tOSU didn't come calling and it becomes a Stanford/Texas/Notre Dame battle. Any effort in recruiting him was for the slim chance that he hits the portal in a couple of years, imo.
  3. I think everyone here agrees with that. The issue is that Hand clearly panicked and began following and offering players that simply do not fit the framework of the jumbo athlete that this staff has identified in the past. So not only was he not targeting the type of athletes that we have had a lot of success identifying and signing - he was actually taking numbers away from them for guys that would never play a down at Texas. Guys that didn't fit the physical profile that Herman/Chang/McKnight favor. Until this year that is 100% true but Hand has absolutely reached and shown interest in guys that would never see the field here and should at-best be considered PWO spots. Hence, everyone here being gunshy about another private school OT. It's not about that kid specifically it's about Hand's flailing. It's not a secret. It's also clear that the rest of the staff was not thrilled with Hand's targets, note that Yurcich has involved himself directly with OL recruiting now.
  4. Kansas State is struggling with COVID numbers and this weekend's OU/KSU game is in jeopardy. Specifically around the KSU OL/DL numbers.
  5. Wait, Darvon Hubbard is 210 pounds now? Why? That guy was a decent looking one cut RB who bounced everything outside and also played some WR, esp in that slot as a flex. Why would they have added 20+ pounds to him, esp if they already had Crownover and Deondre Jackson? I get that they are excited to have Achane and Smith as change of pace guys but why add weight to Hubbard who shows nice hands and could be a really nice 3rd down back, giving you a lot more running options than Achane/Smith but still dangerous in the passing game. I assume it's more of Jimbo's antiquated bullshit to go along with the cubes.
  6. They better get that hit rate up the 2020 class has 14 OOS guys. Harris, Jackson, Johnson, Doyle, Morris, Diggs, Muhammed, Cooper, George, Moten, Raikes, Walker, Hubbard, Jackson
  7. Ethan Pouncey out for the year, hip surgery for a CB seems pretty fucking scary long term.
  8. Typical OOS aggy, he was a hot prospect at S as a rising Soph but grew out of the position and ended up a tweener and interest from the regional schools waned. The early offers and interest from UGa, LSU, Bama dried up so he was basically down to Tenn and aggy as his only bigger committable offers. He got an Elko/Fong bump to 4* during the very last updates before NSD after making it clear that he'd join Foster and Jenkins in the LitStation.
  9. I'm not the world's biggest Dallas or SMU fan but Is that supposed to be a dig in some way? SMU was 10-3 last year and will clearly have a good run this year.and are recruiting realy well. I'll take SMU chicks any day - you might even fall into some old money and set yourself for a cushy job and early retirement. Sure, Dallas is no LitStation but I feel like you could maybe have a good time in Dallas. Maybe. Is there anyone here who would rather spend 2 years at aggy in College Station over SMU? anyone?
  10. Perroni note on LB Ke'Shun Brown who is listed under the Pronunciation Guide but not on the depth chart::
  11. Caution is the path to mediocrity. Gliding, passionless mediocrity is all that most people think they can achieve.
  12. aggy offers OOS OT - 6'7" 370 lb Kiyuanta Goodwin. He's gonna play for Studrawa, right? https://247sports.com/Player/Kiyaunta-Goodwin-46056042/
  13. I can't even wrap my mind around this crybagging nonsense. It's the Big XII, we already play everyone every season. So they are crying because what exactly? Texas and OU play each other the same weekend, so ... FFS, OU has a bye week before TCU and a bye week before OkSTate. Texas has TCU/OU back-to-back. Then Texas has Baylor-OkState-WVU back-to-back-to-back - the same trio as OU. What did the BigXII do to them, exactly?
  14. would this be the same Kenyon Green who still hasn't developed into an OT and has been getting some looks at C because McCollum and/or Matthews have both missed a huge portion of fall camp? The same Green that got the look at C after TR FR Smart Chibuzo tried? In LitStation that might be the perception - by the end of 2020 I don't think you'll see anyone using that argument, even Ole Billy. Also, I'd worry more about LJ talking to guys on the aggy roster, it sounds like they'd be more than willing to recruit for Tom Herman at this point.
  15. Stupid sip - those freshman and hand-picked by a sitting national championship coach for the hand-in-the-dirt by-god SEC. That's like a RS JR in your BDF.
  16. They better blow the ‘Dores out by 35+ That’s a BAD football team with roughly 351 opt outs, including their best player in Dimitri Moore and the entire OL - which already sucked, so imagine the backups now starting vs a good aggy DL. I think we need a blowout for peak coaster. We need Billy and Tarp with the MNC talk and the “it ain’t gonna be like it used to be” ratcheted up. Then a “close” loss to Bama where Jimbo scores 14 late to lose by 10. (Even if they were never in the game)
  17. Several of them have takes about how Jimbo is changing the culture abd they love it. “Once he gets his guys in and we get rid of all these bullshit Sumlin sissies” which is funny because that 2018 class is a fucking ghost town. “it ain’t gonna be like it used to be” - Jimbo
  18. Tarp says not to be surprised if Greyson Reed opts out as well.
