  1. New Surly motto?
  2. I fully admit this is overanalyzing, but based on yesterday's performance I think Sark did Arch absolutely no favors with how he used him post-Mississippi State game last year. Arch only saw the field again in high pressure situations. Throw into the fire vs. UGA when Sark benched Quinn. Used as a battering ram in the A&M and playoffs. All those positives from Mississippi State game (yeah, they suck on defense, but still Arch was fantastic) and being comfortable as a pocket passer got thrown out the window for the rest of the year. It's clear Arch was WAY too tight yesterday and some of that could have carried over from second half of season last year.
  3. "It's not guns, it's people." - my contrarian uncle who has never shot or owned a firearm. Well yeah, humans created the firearm. Should we have the ability to restrict access as well, or just succumb to our own inventions? Apparently guns have more agency than we do? Fuck off. The world has gone mad.
  4. Everyone thinks about the children, but what about the guns??? They have just as much of a right to co-exist on this planet. They were here before us or something.
  5. Agreed. But I'm assuming there are Surly posters at the games that keep an eye on the sidelines. I'm curious what our QB's communication is like with assistants while defense is on the field.
  6. For the next 3 games, we should do the exact opposite of this. Arch needs as many dropback passing reps as possible. Don't lean on the run game at all. We've got to fix the passing attack.
  7. Sark should go pass heavy the next 3 games to get Arch comfortable. Assuming he only plays 3-ish quarter in each, he needs as many passing reps as possible. No need for Wisner or Baxter to carry a heavy load. Get Christian Clark and Simon some touches. Keep that room fresh and healthy for conference play.
  8. Yesterday was a disaster and we couldn't even complete simple pitch and catches, but writing off our explosiveness is silly. I think(hope?) yesterday's game was an aberration, but we're fortunate to have 3 easy games in September to get things right. IMO we should go pass heavy and keep RB room fresh and healthy for conference play. No need for Baxter or Wisner to have lots of carries in these non-conference games.
  9. echeese just posted a self-written article about the game on OTF board. This feels like a low point.
  10. But seriously, can we change the thread title? No offense to OP but we can't have the main Arch thread have a non-sensical and annoying title to click on for two more years. "Arch Madness" or something. Please. We need a fresh start. @immamac @LTtxfan
  11. All summer people were saying Arch had unreal pressure on him. And that's exactly what it looked like on the field yesterday. I expected him to be much calmer and looser, as I'm sure most of y'all did too. Then he threw a rushed fastball in the dirt on first play of game to a wide open player. He played tight and struggled with timing and mechanics. Without being able to see sideline conversations on TV, it seems like Sark and the staff did a poor job of getting him settled in. IMO it was all mental with Arch. He clearly needs more game reps to get comfortable. We'll be fine.
  12. Whatever mistakes Sark had as a playcaller yesterday probably occurred during the install in the week(s) prior. Not making excuses, but with lots of new faces starting on offense, Sark clearly chose to keep things simple. If he had any special plays up his sleeve, we would have seen them with how game played out. Maybe the lack of pre-snap motion was due to penalty concerns as well. Arch and the passing offense are much further behind then we thought. We need reps, and the 3 easy games coming up are much needed. I expect quick improvement.
  13. It’s a tic. Peyton did it as well.
  14. This. Wasn't even on my bingo card that Arch would struggle making basic throws. So strange.
  15. He definitely looked tight and skittish on TV. And that can cause inaccuracy. I get that too. But we have Sark and Arch, not bumblebee and bumblefuck.
  16. We had 7 months to prepare. I understand things not going smoothly in this game, but what transpired was way worse.
  17. The game plan sucked, but Arch blew it today. There were enough opportunities for him to win the game even with a conservative approach. My biggest question is why did Arch play so damn tight and skittish. He wasn't comfortable out there at all. Feels like mentally he was poorly prepared.
  18. Sark loves calling plays and will never give it up. Is Milwee in the booth? I've always wondered if Sark is collaborating with someone upstairs through his headset or if he just goes it alone.
  19. Agree we need to freshen the thread title up. My suggestion: Arch Madness.
  20. Well, that didn't pan out as hoped. It certainly did not.
  21. He played like shit. But I agree that he'll be fine.
  22. I'm right there with you. It feels like he was just mentally overwhelmed and uncomfortable throughout...I don't know how else to explain the breakdown in fundamentals.
