  1. I'm talking about him running for DNC chair.
  2. Quinn had good feet and pocket feel. But watch Michigan's defense. They gave him the same look the entire game and didn't disguise anything. He was comfortable and picked them apart. Now everyone knows that he struggles with disguises and the confusion causes his fundamentals to break down. He'll never have it as easy as he did on that day in Ann Arbor.
  3. If growing older has taught me anything, it's that women are fucking amazing. He's only 7 but I'm passing that fact down to my son right now.
  4. I'm not really talking about his as Presidential nominee in this thread. Just being a very influential voice for the strategy and future of the Democratic Party. You and others that have mentioned it are most likely correct that it's too risky for him to be a Presidential candidate, but if there is one gay man that can overcome that "issue" for voters, it's Pete.
  5. Well when I was going out all the time in my 20s, social media didn't exist. Texting/FaceTiming didn't exist. I couldn't see hot single ladies on my phone. I couldn't go online and play video games with friends all night (thank god). You wanna hang with friends and talk to girls? You had to go out somewhere. There was nothing else to do BUT be social. They are losing human connection, which we all desperately need to function well.
  6. Are they participating in this rite of passage the way we used to in our 20s? I don't know. I doubt it though. There are too many distractions/deterrents to being social now.
  7. For us olds, imagine only having dating apps as a realistic possibility to date someone (post HS/college) and the understandable frustration that would come with that. And all the Instagram bullshit that poisons all of their minds. It won't happen, but there needs to be an intentional decision by society to turn back the clock and force social activities back into people's lives again. The phones are killing us.
  8. To genuinely try to answer, without being in that age group anymore and not knowing exactly how their lives our being led in the modern world: - Economic/job anxiety: Career/financial expectations have risen over the years but met with a tightened job market which is causing a lot of anxiety - I'd guess relationships with women have deteriorated rapidly. In the 80s/90s/00s, being around similarly aged women was common place. Connections were common. Now in the modern world of social media and an increase in public disconnection, those relationships are dwindling. And anger is setting in. - These younger generations have been coddled and helicopter parented, which diminishes personal accountability.
  9. I'm telling y'all, watch that Buttigieg video when you have time. There is not a better mind in the Democratic Party, he is a generational political figure and needs to be most influential member of the party now. What he said in this interview 7.5 years ago resonates even more today.
  10. Buttigieg ran for DNC chair in 2017. Since he'll be out of a government job soon, I'd love to see him run again if he's up for it. This is an interview he did after running in 2017, and I think he understands the bigger picture more than anyone else high up in the party. I highly recommend watching.
  11. Right wing media and algorithms. It's an issue the left and Democrats face as well, but not as extreme IMO.
  12. Try to look further back and bigger picture instead of what happened in this election cycle. I'll wait.
  13. And whew, echo chambers are a real problem these days. I don't know how we solve that crisis.
  14. Try to use your brain for a bit. Imagine what policies and rhetoric would look like if Dem Presidential candidates actually tried to get votes from SEC states and rural areas. And if Republican candidates tried to curry favor in West Coast states and big cities. Politics is deeply warped now and the reason is the Electoral College. If we had a popular vote we wouldn't have these extreme differences.
  15. ...which is a result from two political parties trying to game the Electoral College for decades.
  16. Everyone is going to absorb this result at their own pace, but if Trump was gonna win, this was the best way for it to happen IMO. Policy wise it will be a disaster for women and marginalized people, and I'm pretty nervous about foreign policy. But if there is ever gonna be a reconciliation of the people in American society, this is the shock to the system that can get the ball rolling. So Surly Trump assholes, do your thing for now. But let's all start talking like adults soon.
  17. Dismiss it all you want. This country has been broken for decades. When was the last time we had a Constitutional amendment?
  18. Yeah, I think it's unlikely to ever happen. But if you're looking for a tangible reason why we are where we are today, it's the Electoral College. And I would say the same thing today if Kamala had won the EC and popular vote.
  19. LOL, what a shortsighted comment. The EC has been the primary mechanism that has politically divided our country. It was a slow burn, but here we are.
  20. We should absolutely abolish the electoral college.
  21. Ok. Also I think it's important for Trump supporters to see how this plays out today and coming days. - Kamala will concede - Outside of the fringe, no one is going to say the election is rigged - You will see a lot of sadness, not violence. I hope they absorb this and reflect, however unlikely.
  22. With the understanding and concern for all marginalized people in the country, the only "positive" I see with this result is that it was clear and indisputable. The government and media are not going to unite this country. We're gonna have to do it all by ourselves, one conversation at a time. And grace will be needed.
  23. Clearly it's not just one thing, but hopefully the state of MSM, internet, and social media will be taken more seriously. People are consuming two completely different and fully separated sets of information.
  24. I said it last night, we are gonna be pelted with reasons why Dems have "failed" so people can deflect from their decision to vote for a con man and authoritarian. Don't fall for it.
  25. Goodnight, y'all. I'll be back tomorrow. The only good news tonight personally is I told myself months ago that I was gonna deactivate and delete Twitter after this election. Went ahead and did it tonight. Man, I've been addicted to it for almost 15 years. Will be better for my mental health and I'll focus even more on enjoying life with my son, family, and friends. Fuck you, Elon! Onwards.
