  1. Actually Manilla was pretty fierce urban combat. The Luzon liberation was one of the largest bloodiest battles of the war. Yamashita actually sent most of his troops to Northern Luzon where they spent months rooting them out. It did have some good Hollywood storylines. McArthur returns and his opposing General, Yamashita was executed for war crimes in an historic case. It is also rumored he left a treasure in gold hidden in caves in Northern Luzon. 2. Once the beach landing is done lots of Pacific battles weren’t as cinematic as Europe. Months of digging enemy soldiers out of caves in the middle of the jungle is not as romantic as liberating Paris. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  3. I’m beginning to wonder why I’m still paying for Netflix. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  4. I’m seeing that -1 was recorded at D/FW on Dec. 23 1989. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Had mine with those replaced a few years ago. Plumber said those are all they use anymore. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  6. I remember that. Was living in Denton. By midnight there was about a 1/2 inch of solid ice on the streets. So weird because it was as smooth and clear as a pane of glass. “New Year's Eve 1978 was the worst ice storm in North Texas in three decades, producing ice accumulations up to 2 inches thick in a 100 mile-wide swath from just west of Waco to Paris, Texas.” Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  8. Not sure if there are many cars out there that can match the racing pedigree of the Mini. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  10. On my 80s Denon you can plug in either a straight or curved arm. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  11. Found this one at an estate sale last year. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  12. The Library will be built and it will be exactly like one of those Creationist Museums. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  13. Late 80s when I bought this. Didn’t really know what it was just that it was cheap and cool looking. Not sure if vintage audio was a thing back then. Soon after I bought a new Adcom GFA 555 and GFP preamp along with Polk SDA speakers. Very good times in Denton back then. Buddy owned a bar just off campus near Fouts Field. 14. The 9500 was the most manly looking integrated ever. Big heat sinks on the back and inputs on the sides, which was pretty handy. Only thing I didn’t like was the stepped volume pot. I was running big very efficient speakers and seemed like it was either too loud or not loud enough. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  15. It was ages ago so I assumed it wasn’t there anymore but I was wrong. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  16. Early (1959?) Scott 299 I bought at a pawn shop in Denton. It was serviced in 1965 according to a sticker inside. Not sure if it has been touched since. Damn thing still works and sounds superb. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  17. I had an SA-9500. Still have the matching TX-9500 tuner laying around. Loved the amp but it developed a buzz that drove my Tech nuts. He finally gave up and gave me sweet Holfi power amp in trade. I use a Marantz 2245 in my den and have 2230 sitting around. IMHO for value, aesthetics and sound quality the 30,45 and 70 are the sweet spot for vintage Marantz receivers. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  18. Online registration in Frisco was a clusterfuck. They set a time when it would open and 75,000 people apparently tried to register at once. The next day they just gave a general time and then announced when it would open via email. Still fucked up. If you were lucky enough to get through getting the shot was a piece of cake. 30 to 45 minutes to get the shot and your second dose scheduled. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  19. Denton County got something like 30k doses at the end of the month. Weren’t they the ones doing the TMS drive through? We registered over a month ago and have never received anything from them. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  20. That was my take. Not interested after watching first episode. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. It just opened about a year ago. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  22. Wife’s nut job cousin and husband stopped by here on their way from Cali to Austin. This is the only thing they wanted to visit in D/FW. Wife was a good host and went with. Told them I had to wash my hair and couldn’t make it. https://discoverycenter.icr.org/things-to-do Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  23. Bought this Aragon preamp from Audiogon for my main system. My power amp needs a low impedance output and they can be hard to find. Also has basic remote functions, which is all I need. I preferred Audiokarma because there were more enthusiasts an fewer flippers. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  24. I’m pretty much set so I haven’t been in buying/trading mode in a while. In the past I’ve used Craigslist Facebook marketplace US Audio mart Audiogon Audiokarma eBay EstateSales Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  25. Finally got scheduled in Collin County. Frisco got some doses and you were to schedule online beginning at 3pm for the next day. Shit was completely borked at 3. Saying no openings, errors on your form, unknown address etc. Website finally said sorry, we realize shits borked and we be trying to fix it. Kept refreshing periodically and at 8:30, BOOM! Got through and scheduled at same time for me and wife. Did not even have to send boob pics. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
