  1. SB7 is dead but something of its ilk will definitely be resurrected in a special session and some version of it will unfortunately pass. Because Republicans have no interest in a republican form of government.
  2. House Dems are breaking quorum to kill the elections bill
  3. "From an FFL" is doing a lot of work in that sentence
  4. I don't really give a shit about carrying but not subjecting every transfer to a background check is bullshit and requiring business owners to personally confront people about not carrying as opposed to being able to just post a sign prohibiting carrying on their property is ridiculous. The Senate stripped the latter part out of the bill but the House hasn't accepted the amendments so we'll see what comes out of committee.
  5. It perpetually annoys me that Top Chef forces people to work as teams/duos but always rewards the best individual performance, even if you fuck over your teammates/partner.
  6. Eventually all of them (or at least all of them that are owned by NBC Universal) will move to Peacock but I haven't heard a clear timeline for that. Just whenever Hulu's rights expire.
  7. I mean, they're not Allstate, but I'm going to go ahead and strongly disagree about GEICO being reasonable. Although, unlike Allstate, they do tend to get reasonable once you sue.
  8. You can only double dip with PIP. MedPay gets to subrogate against the liability coverage and any agent who sells it instead of PIP should be summarily executed for crookedness or incompetence.
  9. There had also already been testimony about that language in the committee hearing so yes, he was well aware of the history.
  10. That lane reduction right after William Cannon is maddening. They don't even need to build an extra lane, they just need to re-stripe so there isn't a 25-foot shoulder on the left side.
  11. “I can’t breathe” stems from Eric Garner. But don’t worry, the police murders of blacks people are so prevalent they do begin to run together even for those of us who care.
  12. If there's a finding that he intentionally lied during voir dire to mislead the court and attorneys, that could be a valid basis to order a re-trial.
  13. I certainly agree a movie need not be depressing or dystopian or preachy to be considered good. I just don't agree those are the only movies that Academy recognizes historically, recently or otherwise.
  14. You don’t have to convince me the ceremony sucked. I already said it was the worst telecast of my lifetime (and I saw all the nominees and liked most of them!). But you keep saying it sucked because they didn’t nominate movies most people actually liked/want to see and I’m just trying to figure out what movies you (and others) think those were this year. You also seem to think that it’s a recurring problem, even though last year’s nominees were about as mainstream as non Disney movies get these days.
  15. You didn’t answer the first time I asked so let’s try this again. What crowd pleaser movies exactly do you think should have been nominated instead?
  16. I suppose that depends on what a movie like Gladiator or Return of the King means. Last year's nominees were some of the most mainstream movies of the year that weren't MCU, Star Wars, or animation.
  17. Like what films exactly? Five of the Best Picture nominees were in the 12 most popular movies of 2020/21 on Letterboxd and they were 6 of the 9 most popular on IMDB. You want them to nominate Birds of Prey? Bad Boys for Life? Wonder Woman 1984?
  18. I love the Oscars and genuinely liked most of the nominees this year (although Nomadland didn’t do it for me) but holy shit that was the worst ceremony ever. The little anecdotes about each nominee were brutal. Just show fucking clips. Especially in a year where fewer people had seen these movies/performances than usual. I don’t care what movie the costume designer for Emma saw when she was 6, just show me a 5-10 second super cut of the costumes while you read her name.
  19. If you bought in 2020, you don’t benefit from the HS cap until 2022 (but you do benefit from HS exemptions this year).
  20. Is there a single one of you claiming your appraised value is bullshit who couldn’t sell it for that price or higher right now? Mine went up 21% and is still 20% less than my house would sell for in the next week.
  21. And the Johnny Sacks of the world are really only concerned about mtf trans athletes. Most estimates are than 60-80% of trans persons are ftm so that cuts the numbers much futher.
  22. Problem is everyone you know is also a piece of shit.
  23. I miss the Whole Foods scenes too. They’re a fun few minutes.
  24. And the second Republicans have power again in the future and can’t get 60 votes for cloture on something else they want to pass, you can be damn sure there will be an exception to the filibuster created for that as well.
