  1. Rather than paraphrase me, quote me. And look up "conflate."
  2. You replied to my post that said that I didn't want us embroiled in "the whole shootin' match of the MidEast." You quoted me not the title of the thread, and you know it. Save your facile retorts for facile reasoning. Just take the loss and move on. Or keep scrambling. I don't much care. Have a nice evening.
  3. I'm sure you're being honest about what they said, but I wonder how honest they were being with you. Aggies are sure that they are richer than they are. They are sure of a lot of things about themselves which are clearly untrue. I can imagine some Aggie boosters with "buddies close to the Big Money Ags" claiming to know what's going on. I think $90MM to dump Jimbo and the boys and maybe three quarters of that same amount promised over the next 8 years for a big-name replacement is a tall order. $150MM over the next 7 years is some serious money, Frank.* *Scarface
  4. And they were so together and dominant after the big wins over Auburn and Arkansas. I think Alabama was a trap game for the TexAgs Aggies who were looking ahead to beating Georgia in the SEC Championship Game. Sad, really.
  5. He said fucking around and finding out. Eyes for eyes and teeth for teeth. A tale as old as time all over the world. Can't say that I'm above it, but I don't try to use it as a rational explanation for my actions. I was in LA for the riots 30 years ago. Such a thin veneer is civilization.
  6. That would be such a powerful point if our involvement with Israel were the only thing we'd ever had going in the MidEast. Salient even. Use google. Start with Iran and Mossadegh. Maybe track our relationship with Saddam over the years. Israel is a central complication not the only complication. We've even had a couple wars over there that didn't involve Israel. All kinds of interesting shit. Or, you can stick to the narrow road. I leave it to you.
  7. Secretary of Defense RomaVicta has named @Brisketexan to name all US warships henceforth. The announcement was made from the deck of the "No, I'm Not Using Lube."
  8. Wasp, Intrepid, Hornet, Lexington; those are good ship names. I suspect we'll be selling the rights eventually, so we'll have USS Spiderman Sponsored by Cheetohs. It will be sad if we ever have to experience just how vulnerable these ships are to subs and, now, drones. "The USS GalleryofFurniture.com was lost today with almost all hands. The USS Shamwow is still looking for survivors. President Kardashian texted that this act 'will be avenged!'"
  9. I mean the whole shootin' match called the Middle East. Nothing much comes to mind when I think about what the US has got out of it. Hell, the original Zionist didn't really want the Jewish homeland to be in Palestine. I wish we'd given them Arizona or West Texas or part of Germany. Cheap oil? Is what we've paid and lost really worth it? Is the unending antipathy of the radicalized Muslim world worth it? I really don't think so. Europeans have paid five or ten times for gas what we have. They seem to be doing fine. Look closely, and you'll see they have great mass transit. Israel seems able to fend for itself. I don't really see why we need to send a carrier group to back them up while they're clearly the overdog in this conflict. I've suspected for quite sometime that we have to stay in bed with Israel because they've done some truly dirty work for us. But hey, big trucks with tow-packages that you take to the office and maybe tow things ten times a year! Let the slaughter continue! We likes low prices and stupid things!
  10. I hate that we name aircraft carriers after presidents. I dislike the US being entangled in this shit.
  11. I happen to have a letter from a recruit right here. Seems he was lost looking for Kyle until he encountered some nice young men....
  12. I finally got it. In bread. Inbred. Yokel on yokel warfare isn't pretty.
  13. Couldn't agree more with your post, BevoAbyss. I pick the detail above because ignoring the charm and beauty of the dark night sky sorta suggests where all of these problems found root. It would be so easy to put shades on street lights and giant parking lot lights so that they only cast their light downwards and not up to veil the view of the stars. Hell, the parking lot lights could just be turned off after closing. We've moved to the country just north of Johnson City. Some of the women of the area have addressed the tiny local government about the needlessly bright lights in a few locations. There're maybe 25 altogether. Preserve the night sky! The mayor at the time just dismissed the idea with, "I like bright lights!" Just scorn for the idea that something so simple as preserving the night sky. This is the political forum, and I'll point once again to the GOP hate engine. Recall that Nixon signed environmental laws that received largely, as I recall, bi-partisan support. Why should there be resistance to cleaning the rivers and air? The hate engine gives us the notion of "environmental wackos" who tread on the sacred rights of industry to do whatever they please. Industry is capitalism. Capitalism is what the Founding Fathers founded with the Declaration of Capitalism and Constitution of the Holy Order of the Market. Now, there is knee-jerk objection to anything suggesting the environment deserves priority or that doing things just a little differently could add some beauty to our world. So, why give up plastic? Why consider cutting back on beef? Why not keep buying giant vehicles that you don't need? Why change anything in this perfect world created by the greatest country that ever existed peopled by the best people ever? Not even one simple thing like preserving the night sky will be considered.
  14. I would not want to be the scientist searching for and counting the 20 particles.
  15. I don't believe it will feel the same way as those other two big weekends in the past that CTJ describes. It's a third piece of theater saying that they're just about to turn the corner. That message has to be getting a little stale for recruits who can easily recall last year's debacle. Further, I don't think it's crazy to believe that the lustre of a close loss or win over the Tide is not diminished this year. If A&M beats Bama, they will still be second to us in doing so. That's just my distant, ill-informed opinion about the importance of the game. I have no idea of how much money it takes to make great players believe they can get some nice cash and play at the highest level. There is also the variable of A&M losing to Mississippi and Tennessee and maybe LSU. Does the Alabama win still make it look like them dear ol' Texas Aggies from Texas are on the brink of greatness? Just speculating. I know CTJ is far more plugged in.
  16. It's been horrible to witness. I think the erosion got going back in the 80s when Texas was chic and you had phonies walking around in fucking leather vests and cowboy hats. More Texans lived down to the stereotype of the loud proud Texan. I recall my father who was born here seeing that "Native Texan" bumper sticker that was on so many vehicles back then. "There's something to be proud of," he said in a bemused grumble. "'I was born somewhere.' That's a real achievement."
  17. I'd go to that game as a guest. It will be a wild scene with maximum Aggie regimented school spirit, and you get to see a Nick Saban coached Alabama team which will make a good memory. I'm not worried about the Aggie pride in their yelling and standing. I'd prefer the feel of a big game at Memorial-DKR than that of Kyle Field. College football should be fun and festive. We've got that and Memorial rocks for big games.
  18. The SS checkmated Trump by not taking him to the Capitol. I think that was a huge factor in sliding the odds back to the people. Trump showing up to enter the Capitol and ordering the Capitol Police to make way would have likely gained admittance for him and his mob to make their way to where the votes were to be counted. Until you get to Pelosi, who would feel like they had the authority to stop him? That's a horrendous scene that I'm glad we didn't have to witness.
  19. Imagine this idiot, Crazy Sydney, Drunk Rudy, Eastman, and Stephen fucking Miller being the brains behind a fascist overthrow of the US government. Imagine these people imagining themselves as the elite leaders in the Trump Cabal after Jan. 6. What were these people seeing as they dreamed of their futures? They're bound to have confided in friends. What kind of feedback did they get? Surely some of the people they knew said, "Pillow Guy, this is nuts. If you fail it's ruin and jail for you!" I'd love to hear one day what their actual vision was as Trump put his toadies in the Pentagon while planning to himself lead the mob into the Capitol. "Oh man! This is going to be great!" I can't feature the scene.
  20. I hadn't opened a thread there in years. I saw familiar names. You're right about it being TexAgs for Longhorn Regards:
