  1. I'm sure the GOPs who blamed the Dems for not voting for their speaker candidate will gush about how great the Dems are if they do support a lesser of two evils. Let the trainwreck continue. If government shuts down because these idiots can't even elect a leader, the blame will be clear as will the nature of the wicked cabal. No, the MAGAs won't care, but a lot of others will. What a loathsome package of pustules are the GOPs, a plague beloved by a large plurality of Americans.
  2. Yes. Over the decades since Reagan was elected, there has been a steady effort to paint unions, lawyers, the press, and your congressperson as agents of evil. These are the only tools the little guy has against the great powers. A huge number of white little guys have learned to hate them. It's expanded to where being called a social justice warrior is a terrible thing. Also, where being called "woke" to things like Me, Too and BLM is de facto bad. It's like developing a hatred for your own immune system.
  3. Yes. I hope the person who assigns their service isn't swayed by the claim that their legal skills should be applied in an office somewhere. Maybe a condition of their deal should have been that their registration for service be submitted with a black-faced person accused of similar level misdeamors involving theft or disorderly conduct. The person assigning will be blind to who they are. Oh, and the service must be done in a public place where photos are allowed. ETA: Also where lawn chairs could be set up by private citizens to watch and hoot at the miscreants. "Hey, Sidney! You missed a piece of litter over there!" "Cheeseman! That cola bottle full of urine isn't going to pick itself up!" "Jenna, quit bawling!"
  4. Ladies and gentlemen, a quote of decorum from a former President of the United States. Mark well what the man says and how he says it, for he sets brave and articulate new precedents for civil political discourse regarding the important issues of the day! Expect future presidential debates to resemble formal dinners of Real Housewives! May God bless the United States of America! Huzzah! Huzzah! Huzzah!
  5. It's weird how their Agginess spills out in other ways. They don't simply like Dallas or Houston better. It's another jihad.
  6. May she receive the same kind of harrassment as Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss. From the NYT And Wandrea Moss and her mother, Ruby Freeman, two Black women who served as election workers during the pandemic in Georgia, suffered an onslaught of racist abuse and were driven into hiding after Rudolph W. Giuliani, President Donald J. Trump’s lawyer, lied that they had rigged the election against Mr. Trump. “I’ve lost my name and I’ve lost my reputation,” Ms. Freeman said, adding as her voice rose with emotion, “Do you know how it feels to have the president of the United States target you?” Election official after election official testified to the House Jan. 6 committee on Tuesday in searing, emotional detail how Mr. Trump and his aides unleashed violent threats and vengeance on them for refusing to cave to his pressure to overturn the election in his favor. The testimony showed how Mr. Trump and his aides encouraged his followers to target election officials in key states — even going so far as to post their personal cellphone numbers on Mr. Trump’s social media channels, which the committee cited as a particularly brutal effort by the president to cling to power. Fuck. These. Guys. Sometimes the gallows seems too good for some people. One thinks of the fate of some baby seals.
  7. I've always had that attitude towards the Dems that weasled around about the second Iraq war. Kucinich always had my respect for his vote and standing by it. That was a demo of the Dems being weak. In this case, you have people that have been in lock-step for decades as they marched towards fascism singing hate songs. They campaign on the Dems being enemies of the US. It's hard to walk that back. Both cases show the lowness of character desire to remain in office can cause. I think that I'd prefer to vote against something horrendous or abandon my party if it were harming the country even if it cost me my seat. It's the right thing to do. It's a better story or one's self. I'd be able to sleep at night. I can find another job.
  8. For whom? I haven't read much of the thread, so I don't know your stand on the union and this strike. Of course, the period when there is a strike is not "good" for anyone. The outcome is all that matters. My question is unprejudiced, Incredulity. How do you stand? Transparency: I'm pro-union generally. I certainly am in this case.
  9. Nice set of immediate responses:
  10. That sounds like the Donald's doing. He knows more about law than all the lawyers. He can't believe the morons working for him didn't think of it themselves. Hell, they even resisted it! Does Dotard have to do everything himself? Work! Work! Work! Work! Work!
  11. Thanks. I thought this was great. As much as I appreciate the legal analysis provided by lawyers here in the CR, it is nice to hear a more plain language overview. It's also kind of funny that he's speaking from Texas and you hear sporadic gunfire in the background. Yesterday, I had to tune into a Worker Safety webinar. First question was, "Should you report a person in the workplace who has a holstered gun?" Yee haw! First question from audience a little later, "What if you're driving to an appointment, and you see a man pointing a rifle at another car? One of our people saw this then the man pointed the rifle at her car. Is that something we report to workplace safety?" I joined the women with a WTF? look. What in the fucking world is going on?
  12. Three things: Some genius broke into Hamm's account and knows Hamm well enough to post plausible crazy shit. Hamm's not a sociopath as claimed by his tormentor. He is absurdly obsessed with his internet persona, and it's remarkable a top executive has enough time to keep his tiny fingers so engaged defending the honor of that persona. Hamm has a jihad against TexAgs. Hamm wants a fist fight with somebody. Find Hamm's most I'll-fight-your-ass post. Copy it Find Hamm's most anti-TexAgs post. Copy it. Go to TexAgs and find one of Chin Pubes' belligerent challenges to fight. Paste the Hamm posts under one of Billy's I'll-fight-your-ass posts. Okay, boys, name your time and place. Billy can post that info on Hamm's Linked In page. Better yet, Billy's always in the office. Hamm should just go there with cameras. Manly manful fisticuffs ensue.
  13. The o-line "leaks like a stuffed pig." Stuffed with pears you've grown yourself for all tense and purposes.
  14. Flashy RC Slocum. Man was pimpin' up in there. And, yes, why hire mediocre coaches? Hire the really good ones who know all the touchdown plays! It's not that hard, people.
  15. Planting the seeds for incompetent to stand trial? Nah. It's just Rudy being Rudy, gin-soaked traitorous scumbag.
  16. Disinformation is unavoidable. Refuting it is the only way to limit the damage. You're getting a bit shrill.
  17. Hugo! I forgot all about Hugo Chavez in her crazy rant. Hi, Hugo! Sorry you're missing the show.
  18. I've largely disengaged from this thread, so forgive me if I'm misreading things. I see repetition of the Hamas atrocities or added details about them. This is newsworthy, but is it relevant to the fate of civilians in GAZA? Is the idea that should the right combination of ghoulish cruelty shown by the (seems to me) universally condemned Hamas attack will lead to a, "Well, there it is. That's really bad. Kill them all," moment? I also don't object to the newsworthiness of other theories regarding the explosion near the Gaza hospital. In fact, those firmly of the belief that the Israelis are not culpable should be pleased with each theory that is later debunked. It strengthens their case. I also see this discussion as irrelelevant to the fate of the civilians in Gaza. I have no idea what the solution is, nor do I think my lack of solution is relevant to the fate of civilians in Gaza. Why should they pay for lack of imagination on my own and others' parts? Why should they pay for the intransigence of various politcal and state entities? I will take the stand that I don't want the US backing either side militarily. The plea that Israel must survive sounds kind of absurd when they have a conventional military poised to do whatever they want to Gaza. The question of right to exist does not concern Israel in this moment. It's an old tune that is no longer applicable no matter how moving its melody. We shouldn't be aiding either Israel or Hamas in this conflict. We've likely sacrificed our key value as a detached broker in the conflict. I would support humanitarion aid for non combatants wherever they are. I would abandon the idea of sending a fucking carrier group to that coast as a show of force against mighty Gaza. We play this wrong. We stick with cheap theater for the excitable crowd back home. I'm an American and look to American concerns and reputation. I'm moved by the horror of the Hamas attack. I'm not moved to support an exagerrated military response that will bring horrors to a new set of civilians that are no less important to me than Israeli ones. Israel is not a state in our union. I don't feel like an attack on them is an attack on us. This is action between two foreign parties.
  19. My threads all suck and last about a day. I know that. I know someone will point out that this might fit on another thread. I don't care. I'm going full TexAgs here and starting a new thread for an unoriginal thought. But, Kicking a field goal is not "settling" for anything. It's scoring three points. Three points often come in handy. After today's ill-advised fake FG, I couldn't stop from doing the math and judging momentum. We'd have been leading at halftime. We'd have had a ten point lead at the end. Houston would have been down 24-0 having failed to stop us from scoring on four possessions. It would be looking hopeless. 28-0 might have seemed a little more hopeless, but the risk was not worth the reward. Sportscasters, very imaginitive people with fine minds, seize on a phrase like "they'll have to settle for the field goal" no matter the context. If some team is inside the five, first and goal, then yes, it is a victory for the defense at that point to prevent a touchdown. It's real tough football and deserves praise. But, even then, the offense still got three points. Points is good. Points early in the game hold untold value for the latest minutes of the game. Sark isn't the only one to do this. Herman's "I hate field goals" was almost as irritating as him letting it be known he was a member of Mensa. KICK THE FIELD GOAL. Your team gets to celebrate. The band plays the fight song. The fans applaud and hug. It's a tactical victory for you. It's a tactical defeat for the defenders. I hope Sark learns. I think he's a great coach with things to learn. We're a team with some weak spots. We need an edge rush. We need a few pieces in the secondary. We need this QB or another one to be more of a killer. I'm guessing we see Ewers here next year. I only hope it's a good thing.
  20. I hated the fake field goal attempt. The trend among coaches to scorn 3 points (particularly while in the lead) during the first half is idiotic and must stop. Also, is PK going to force us to live the OU game over and over? I'd just as soon not surrender a touchdown at the end of every half. Can lessons be learned? Lastly, this feels like a Tom Herman game. We get ahead. I think we'll dominate and get some of the reserves in for valuable playing time, and coast for once. Nope. We go from domination to shit-fight where the other team is now certain they can win. I don't normally write for the game thread, but this had to get out of me. UH gets the ball to start the second half. ps Also agree with MDHorn about Ewers being conservative. A lot of throws to the safety valve. The runners are doing well, but that's not an offense to count on. Okay, Sark, make a monkey out of me in the second half by running away from these suckers.
  21. I hadn't ceased relaxing. I stand by my point and understood his.
