  1. You could rig a solar water well pump and put it in a flow inducer sleeve (pipe with holes in it) and suspend that in the pond or lay it on board set on the bottom of the tank (anything to keep it out of the mud). Put a normally closed pump switch on the tank you are filling, or use a fill switch if you buy it as part of a kit. That switch turns the pump on at low level and off when you reach a high level or fill point. Solar well pumps don't put out a lot of flow but based on what you described, you don't need a lot of flow - just something you don't have to babysit. Several companies make kits that include everything you need to do just this application.
  2. Python I got in a one-sided trade, plus a couple of Savage 99's in .303 and .300 Sav.
  3. Late 40's Model 70 in .270 with a Norman-Ford Texan 4x scope
  4. Just did a safe shuffle and took some pics of some that grabbed my attention. 1990 1st year production S&W 610 10mm - never out of the plastic.
  5. Guns on back order - wonder why?

  7. @troph speaks the truth. They play by a different set of rules so to speak. You've lost the game with them before the 1st whistle blows. It can range from frustrating to downright dangerous but if that trait is there it's not going to be reasoned, pleased, or loved out of the offender no matter how hard we try. We always lose the war even when there are the occasional battle victories. It never stops. It gets even more complicated by the fact that there is often an underlying borderline personality disorder and the narcissism is the coping mechanism for dealing with the deeper lack of self worth. I'm no expert, but I've come to understand it in my own terms that it is similar to the drink for an alcoholic like me. The narcissism is a coping mechanism of the deeper disorder, just like my drinking was but a symptom of deeper conditions and causes. Disengage and detach or proceed at your own risk, knowing you can't win.
  8. Did she run over a neighbor’s yard bird and decide to cook it to hide the evidence?
  9. Shit's borked. If they didn't have it in stock then they are at the mercy of the distributor or mfg if they have a direct account. Everything is back ordered and the supply chain has been interrupted in a lot of places which further complicates it during the unprecedented demand. Dealer friend of mine has resorted to buying milsurp STAR and Beretta police turn-ins just to have 9mm pistols on his shelves and he can't keep those in stock.
  10. Exactly - unfortunately back then twas pretty hard to stream video over my dial-up Prodigy account to my Motorola bag-phone. I guess i missed the alert!!!!!!
  11. In the early 90’s my home was burglarized while it was on the market. It was shown for about a week. I left town and came back after a few days (was not shown when I was gone). During one of the viewings, someone had flipped the latch on a window, presumably while playing with the plantation shutters. Clearly they cased the house until I was gone and came back. Thankfully my being out of town was due to me moving my valuables personally. All that was left in the house was furniture and accessories for the movers to haul. They got a few things but nothing critical.
  12. I don’t think you grew up. I think you are just plain vanilla normal. You sound like a typical drinker- maybe heavy at times, who had few if any consequences. It also sounds like when deciding to stop or moderate you could / have and do not experience the mental obsession that haunts a real alcoholic. i truly love posts like this because they remind me that I’m different than that and reaffirms To me that I am powerless over alcohol.
  13. Been there / done that. 3 resources come to mind. Ask friends and family for people they recommend. Check with your church / synagogue for referrals recommendations Interview home health services. the issue you may encounter needing only 4 hours a day total but two trips is that a solo provider might not be a fit. A full time professional would need more hours and the two trips @ 2 hrs each may limit their other work options. That’s where friends or community referrals come in. They may know someone who isn’t full time in the industry but is looking for a gig. Short of that a service is your best bet and they can schedule their caregivers with multiple visits per day to get them to full time work without you being the full time employer. there is no easy answer and it’s a hard deal. All you can do is the best you can and go with your gut. Be mindful of valuables, firearms, and bank accounts. Secure that stuff as best you can.
  14. Land Guns for / on display - not for game gettin’ Family name on a building / business.
  15. Lost out on an auction bid this week for a Winchester 1910 in .401 WSL . Really wanted it but it was being sold with no magazine and the cost of the gun plus a mag from another seller online just got too rich considering the receiver had been tapped for a scope which reduced the desirability somewhat. The .401 WSL never took off but it had interesting ballistics in a carbine. I'll find one soon enough.
  16. Do it - Even start by saying you don't care if your parents even show you the contents of the will- just so you know it is up to date and that you know where it is. Same with insurance, annuity, and retirement plan accounts - just make sure they check the beneficiary and that it is current per their wishes.
  17. Great news and kudos to Mom. That's a symbol of her love and respect for the Diablo clan that she took care of her shit. That should make things much easier. PSA - For anyone who doesn't have their financial affairs in order or has parents and you aren't sure if they do - have some conversations with your parents or your kids. No one likes to talk about death and no parent wants financial advice from a kid who's ass they wiped as a baby - But.....it makes things so much easier after the fact. Find their hot button and push it. Maybe they are adamant that they want their death to be treated like a celebration.....Then turn that discussion into saying we want to be able to celebrate your life, not scramble and fight to figure out your estate. Maybe they hate lawyers or the gubment - then tell them you want to make sure their finances are in order so the family doesn't have to pay it all to attorneys and courts to sort it out. Whatever it takes - get it clear, on paper, and where someone can find it. And for goodness sakes, everyone needs to go back and check life insurance, retirement plan, IRA, and annuity beneficiary designations periodically - especially if you have had a divorce, death, birth, or change in the family structure. Those things are difficult and sometimes impossible to unwind after death - any the process of even trying is costly to the estate. @El Diablo I'm sorry for your loss, but am happy for you that this potential burden has been lifted and you can focus on your good memories of mom and not have her death create undue stress and worry.
  18. A flavor for every food!
  19. @Llano Estacado plus rep for the Marie Sharp’s
  20. Have you looked at the policies themselves? There has to be a beneficiary- that may be listed as “My Estate” or similar, but one has to be listed. You mention they were your dad’s and “ rolled over”. Might they be annuities or might they be the proceeds from your dad’s life insurance that your mom put into an annuity? They’d look like an insurance contract and may even have “policy” or “contract” In the title. But, just like a life insurance policy there will be a stated beneficiary on an annuity contract- maybe just her estate but something or someone will be listed. If you can’t locate that, the executor will need to contact the company and determine who is listed and proceed as such. In the event her estate is listed, the proceeds go into the pot and the executor will distribute based on the will, etc.
  21. Rent it yourself and reimburse a couple of friends who also rent it and then trash their online ratings/reviews talking about the crazy neighbor next door who keeps bringing the cops to the door and interrupting the parties. That's got to be cheaper than moving. You could make your police reports that you hear an ongoing assault rather than a noise complaint. It's hard to distinguish sometimes. One might also post some signs in your yard pointed at the neighboring house that you report underage drinking, drug use, and noise violations to law enforcement.
  22. The Casull is a great round. Sort of mainstreamed the bigger bore handguns in the late 90's after it had been simmering for a few decades......when Ruger adopted it in the late 90's it took off and lead to other developments like the .480 and the .500 S&W. Perfect choice for bear country and your Ruger Alaskan is carried by tons of guides up there.
  23. I’m all for extra barrels and more gear if you just want it but read up on Buffalo Bore’s founder’s comments on their hard cast bullets, hot loads, and factory barrels vs. after market barrels. I think his articles are in their FAQs, if not it’s easy to google. I shoot BB and Underwood hot loads and have zero issues. Buy and enjoy!!!!!
  24. When fresh in camp yoou can also cut larger sections of backstrap and then slice it thin, long ways. You get larger thin strip more like a CFS. i also cut mine out into filet sized steaks. If I want to grill/sear they are ready to roll, but if I decide to fry I cut an X half way through, lay it open and pound out to equal thickness. That way I can have one cut vacuumed and frozen and use it different ways.
  25. Twicehorn or another lawdog would be able to advise on the ins and outs but maybe there is a way to take this into the legal realm without spending a bunch of money. Small claims court, self-filed suits, or even one of those annual legal representation plans through which you could bombard them and become a hassle. Becoming a legal and a financial thorn In the side of the owner is what it would take. Obviously they are more motivated by money than being a good neighbor at this point. If you could find a way to take some of that incentive away by forcing them to spend money or time defending themselves you’d create consequences that would alter their behavior. Or, I hear there are a few E-bay execs who seem good at intimidation and are looking for jobs now. They might be a good at getting your point across.
