  1. And for what it’s worth, my military issue PVS14 is a gen 3 NV monocular and I can see like its daylight (green daylight) in the shittiest light conditions. Very very clearly.
  2. Perfectly sound question. Traditional NV uses photocathodes and phosphor to amplify very very low ambient light to make it visible. The phosphors give it the iconic “green image” you see through the scope (like every military movie). It can be “amplified” with an infrared illuminator (invisible flashlight). You pair this with an infrared laser which is obviously only visible to the wearer of NV. All infrared is is low low invisible levels of light but not invisible to a highly sensitive NV setup. ATN uses thermal a lot I know. Very different. No idea what tech they use for their night vision lineup. Probably something like above but digital in nature (like a modern camera)?

  4. So we are all in agreement. Good. Good. It’s all coming together now. My master plan is nearly complete.
  5. Pro tip: you don’t really need food saver vacuum sealing for 90% of sous vide cooking. A simple ziploc and the water seal method is more than ample (and cheaper). Vacuum sealing is really best for prepping to freeze (then taking out and putting straight into bath when ready to cook).
  6. Just got the call from the dealer that my new Ram 1500 is in and getting sale prepped off the truck. Can’t wait. Will take pics soon as I can pick it up.
  7. I have both (actually employ a thermal scope scope for locating and the NV/IR for shooting). I use a DBAL mil-spec laser and helmet mounted mil-spec PVS14 NV monocular. With a properly sighted laser and sufficient practice, it can be quite efficient. Still not something I’d recommend for longer distance targeting. Even the entry level thermal scopes are not ideal beyond say 50 yards. Successful night hunting is about stalking (pigs) or setting up downwind with a predator call and baiting them in close.
  8. Made bacon, sausage eggs and hashed browns for breakfast. Can’t believe I didn’t own a blackstone before this! How did I not know this level of awesome was achievable?
  9. Just took her on her maiden voyage. Cheesesteaks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  16. Hahaha. Just putting out the considerations for each. I’ve owned all three types and currently run the roll up bak. It’s the least intrusive and most flexible.
  17. Retractables - eat up box real estate flips - can kill rear vision in up position roll ups - as mentioned above, have weak mini panels that show wear/dents easily
  18. I personally think four grain is the best of the bunch

  20. By and large, the Germans (Audi, bmw, Porsche) understand evolution. Don’t fuck with a winning recipe. Now, the Japanese....
  21. Some good advice in the thread. I’m 6’3” so not a small guy. Hands are L-XL. I am currently carry a VP9SK with extended grips and the larger blackstrap. Love it. Just shot a buddy’s and now (30 mins ago) ordered my own M&P 45 shield 2.0. Love it. Fits me perfectly and just as comfortable as the VP9SK but with 45 extra oomph. Still waiting on my Sig P365 pre order from January. We shall see.
  22. I agree with this, though there are certainly exceptions. I think the Michter 10 is outstanding and the pappy 15 is divine. But agree that most bourbons are perfe t at 7-8 years based on my extensive experience and highly unsofisticated palate.
  23. The blimey bastards all sound the same to me. Tomato, tomato?
  24. Brienne of Tarth needed to stay the fuck in GoT. The fact her wide robot hips even suggested the shape of the actress infuriated me.
