  1. Very true, though rumor has it that Johnny's family were THE people to see if you wanted to buy a caravan in East Texas.
  2. Yes, let's move more shit to Kansas City. While we are at it we should move the baseball tournament back to OKC.
  3. Actually was going to call him a gypsy, but didn't want to besmirch gypsies.
  4. Not a problem and only asked because I know somewhere buried in this thread is the debate about Cruise playing Reacher. I agree Cruise is versatile, but I do think that while Cruise did portray some of the traits that make Reacher such an enduring character the one thing he can do is be the hulking presence that is Reacher and what seems to put him in some of the situations he finds himself, even when he tries to avoid confrontations. Take for example the fight in the first Cruise movie where Reacher beats up the 4-5 guys in the street. In that movie the result is unexpected from them because he is an "averaged" sized guy on film and why should they expect to get their arses beaten by one guy. Not a bad season, but not really the Reacher from the books.
  5. Just for clarification, are you talking about Cruise's version in the movies or the Amazon series.......
  6. Most national media members are valued on the amount of shit they spew, as well as the toxicity and volume they speak instead of quality or accuracy of their work. I have found myself listening to a national broadcast from time to time, say after an Astros game when working the garage, and I truly can't believe the shit that is broadcast.
  7. The reason why sharing revenues works in the NFL is there are agreed up rules and the group as a whole work somewhat together and they don't try to skew the formula. Teams can generate additional sources of revenue on their own, but the split on the league contracts are the same across the board. How does sharing revenues level things when he is one of the very people making an end run with money's being paid to players outside the revenue sharing agreements? A common theme among the Big 12 coaches is we have fucked this thing up and there really is no control right now and they weren't referring to the conference. The problem is not whether doing it is legal or not, it is whether or not it is pushing things closer and closer to the next big change in college sports and that isn't going to be for the better.
  8. The lawsuit was filed in 2008-09 and attempts were made to get it thrown off prior to the 2014 trial because the NCAA knew they were fucked if it went to court, Pryor was ruled ineligible for trading memorabilia for compensation in 2010, and any attempt to put any type of positive or noble spin on Manziel or his time in College Station leading up to the NCAA agreeing to play players is similar to the supposed Patton speech some old Ags like to quote or the myth of the 12th man as Gil didn't even get in that fucking game. Once again, piece of shit grifter playing for a piece of shit grifter.
  9. Fair enough, will stick with him being an alcoholic piece of shit grifter, who was raised by a family of grifters, and played for an alcoholic grifter in Sumlin.
  10. Your right, Checo finished I think 3rd, 3rd, 4th, and then farther back last year. How much is it crap inside the team? How much of it is the loss of brain power as just off the top of my head: Newey - Aston Marshall - McLaren Wheatley - Audi Fallows - Aston Courtney - McLaren I am sure there are others I have forgotten, but looking at that list there are some huge losses to replace and I am sure Horner fighting with Marko didn't help the environment. https://www.motorsportmagazine.com/articles/single-seaters/f1/the-key-staff-who-quit-red-bull-horner-pushed-out-after-mass-exodus/
  11. Fuck Cody Campbell and Tech and there is no way he is the answer to anything other than name a booster who is only making things worse in college football at this time. I don't always agree with Sonny, but it is pretty obvious who he is referring to at the end of this clip:
  12. Newey has said that when he designs a car he took into consideration that styles and preferences of the lead driver to tailor the car to their ability. Curious if they would go send Lance outside to play whenever the "adults" at Aston talk about the car for 2026.
  13. If you took a couple of kids out of my 8th grade class it would have made me the smartest kid in that class, but that wouldn't have made us a very smart group of kids.
  14. Wait, the guy who is trying to buy Tech into sports relevance is going to "fix" college football? In response to markstanco's comment, Sally Jenkins career was made off her last name and her Dad did a pretty solid job trashing that when he became a bitter old man.
  15. The situation with Max reminds me of a couple of sales offices that I have worked in where there is a dominant sales person whose presence and the way the company allowed them to operate and monopolize time and resources made it impossible for there ever to be more highly productive salesman in those offices. If I recall correctly, when Seb was on his run with Red Bull where he won the 4 straight titles Mark Webber finished 3rd 2-3 times so there wasn't this huge disparity in performance. During the early stages of Max's career when it was Danny and Max they were close to each other and would have most likely placed even higher if that hadn't had a few wrecks between themselves. We haven't seen this big gap between the performance of the first Red Bull car and the second car until the last few seasons so why is that happening? Have things gotten so focused on supporting Max? Are things that toxic inside the team? Were Webber and Danny just better drivers than Alex, Pierre, Sergio, Yuki, etc....?
  16. Yes, I think I read the are worth between $35-40 billion so the side venture of a F-1 racing team is pretty much a toy and more practical than say, buying high school offensive tackles.
  17. "Impressive" list of names at #10-12. Curious how much money has been spent by those 4 programs during that combined 53 seasons without 1 10-win season.
  18. Newey mentioned in his book that the estimated value of the advertising gained by Red Bull for simply being involved in F1 between 2000-2014 was 1.6 billion pounds so while they aren't a car company their has been economic value from sponsoring the team. I think the question is whether the son who owns 49% or the Yoovidhya family who owns the other 51% wishes to remaining in F1.
  19. She has done a tone of work in about 20 years.
  20. I like Vowles, Albon has had a solid season and you have to wonder how things would have played out if they had to retire the car a few times this season. My friend's primary point is right now, every team has some questions about how they will handle the new power units, chassis, as well as the utilization of the active aeros next season. Aston basically gave Newey the bank, built him a factory and a wind tunnel, but will the have a competitive PU? Merc has some experience to draw on from Formula E for the new PU, their parent has poured billions into battery technology, but will they address their cooling issues and the chassis issues that have seemed to plague them since the lost some of their engineering staff and the death of Niki? Ferrari is Ferrari so who knows what they roll out in 2026, Audi has had great success in other racing, and who the fuck knows what is going on at Red Bull. So if you are a guy who wants to amass drivers' titles that place him among the best in the sport where do you go to make that a reality?
  21. A friend posed an interesting question this morning. Remove team politics from the equation and work under the premise that no team has any drivers under contract for next season, if you were Max, and could go to any team that you wanted next season and be their lead driver which team?
  22. First, losing Yuki is an issue? He has scored 155 fewer points than Max and Yuki has only scored in 4 of 10 races with Red Bull. Heck 3 of his 10 points were scored with RBR. Second, even if they sign George to replace Max, none of that is going to matter is they don't have a competitive car and right now who knows what they will roll out with the new regs, change in leadership, change in design, and the new power unit. Consider that outside of drivers for the big 4 teams, there are 5 other drivers who drive for other teams that have scored more points than Alonso for Aston.
