  1. Don't love tying up $30M with Carlos the next two years and the lose of draft pick, but it is Crane's money and team. He did say he wants to contend each year so I guess let it rip. Each one of those guys actually is better than the players other than Dubon in those spots, allows Altuve to be a pure DH and out of left field, Dubon in center ain't bad, and there is some roster flexibility in games .
  2. So Dubon to center now with Urias and Carlos taking 2nd and 3rd, Sanchez in outfield/dh?
  3. Sounds as if Carlos needs to switch from doing commercials for HEB and become a spokeman for The Good Feet Store.
  4. He didn't say August of which year.
  5. I was actually okay with taking the 30M and signing the Polar Bear since you are asking.......
  6. Jesus fucking Christ, Dana has been the GM since January 2023. What the fuck did you expect him to do drafting at the back of the order and with the lost picks? Hell, Matthews is one of his and showed potential, but go ahead and get in football season mode for when Arch doesn't got for 400 and 5 in the first game.
  7. The Urias deal feels like a deal Dana wanted to make, this deal feels like one that Dana was told to make by Crane.
  8. Same shit we went through with the knee before he finally agreed to the surgery. The guy has had three strings in 8 years where he has missed 50+ games in a season. That is a bit worrisome for someone who is a DH a good part of the time.
  9. Why? This isn't the Carlos of old we are trading for and Suarez has a career average under .230 hitting in Seattle. He will strike out, hit home runs, and the Astros as about to hit a stretch that is going to make or break them playing the East. Astros have to address the pitching issue plain and simple be it getting guys back or adding an arm.
  10. Hey, .248 average and an OPS of almost .690 are an upgrade for anyone else on the roster outside of Dubon.
  11. Pretty amazing that a guy with just over $40M in career earnings and a 10-11 career was paid 75% of those earnings in 3 years, fucking Bagwell.
  12. The Astros actually have a top pitching prospect?
  13. If Crane was willing to spend $30M+ a year on a player then why not Alonso? Heck, even if they had signed Pete instead of Walker with all the injuries there are just too many needs. There isn't a silver bullet player out there that solves the pitching, third base, and left handed hitting.
  14. The Montgomery County DA might make that choice easy for the Texans.
  15. No on Carlos, yes on Crease. I would try to keep Caratini out of the trade if possible without knowing if and when Alvarez is back.
  16. I have nothing against Cease. Don't think you trade the only daily catcher in the system for him. Hayes from Pittsburgh was available, but don't know his contract situation. so I can't say if that would have been worth a look.
  17. If the offensive line is merely breaking even with that defensive front I am good with that result. Someone needs to ask Cody if it is true Christian Harris is the player to be named later in the Astros trade for Correa.
  18. I think starting pitching is a must, as far as 3rd base I really don't any of the three options mentioned above because of thinks unique to each. What I don't know and would be interesting to learn is would it be easier to find a decent hitting outfielder and play Dubon more at third?
  19. Spending money is great, spending smart money is better, spending money to bring a aging middle infielder with injury issues who you wouldn't have given this contract to three years ago doesn't mesh with the first two. Especially when you are still on the hook for Abreu, Montero, and Lance. Curious if the projections about Cam about 3rd base when he came out in the draft were accurate?

  21. I did, your reason was because Cease is a rental and then offered that down the road Walker is a possible replacement for Diaz. My response was that Walker is barely hitting above average at high A.
  22. So you are merely tying up $33M a year for 3 years for an average at best player on a roster that needs serious reworking and you are looking at having to pay some people pretty damn soon.
  23. So you trade for Cease to help you this year and the plan is to replace your starting catcher with a guy who is hitting .260 at high A ball? Where the hell is Mike from Dairy Ashford when we need him?
  24. Also, if the Twins are in the financial hole they supposedly are in and don't want to the be the Barcelona of the MLB then exactly how much of Carlos' contract are they willing to keep on their books and for how many years?
  25. No, you really don't have an everyday catcher on the roster or in your system.
