  1. They explicitly claimed it was his policies that were working when the 4th of July barbecue was $0.16 less than last year. Now they don’t get credit? Cmon
  2. Cmon man, one of the resident socialists here equated 200k income with buying second homes. You’ve hit the big time if you hit that number. In other news, a very curious appointment by the Biden administration to head the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. Basically bank regulation. They essentially nominated a communist. Don’t believe me? Just read her writings. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saule_Omarova https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=3715735 Some of the proposals she highlights. (1) Moving all commercial bank deposits from commercial banks to so-called FedAccounts at the Federal Reserve; (2) Allowing the Fed, in “extreme and rare circumstances, when the Fed is unable to control inflation by raising interest rates,” to confiscate deposits from these FedAccounts in order to tighten monetary policy; (3) Allowing the most Wall Street-conflicted regional Fed bank in the country, the New York Fed, when there are “rises in market value at rates suggestive of a bubble trend,” such as with technology stocks today, to “short these securities, thereby putting downward pressure on their prices”; (4) Eliminate the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) that insures bank deposits; (5) Consolidate all bank regulatory functions at the OCC She’s very unlikely to be confirmed due to these opinions, but why on Earth would someone that essentially opposes financial autonomy and privacy be appointed to such a leadership role in our government? These are frankly dangerous positions to every American.
  3. Here’s something more for the average American. How it started How it’s going
  4. Far and away the #1 cause of all this is the easy money policies of the Federal Reserve.
  5. I just go by what the media tells me via their approved talking points. Excited to see what my newly determined “fair share” is in the face of my increased cost of living.
  6. I thought they’re just going after billionaires. https://www.wsj.com/articles/democrats-tackle-tax-and-healthcare-snags-in-2-trillion-bill-11634927822 “On Friday, White House press secretary Jen Psaki listed closing a gap in Medicare tax rules as a tax proposal under live discussion. The proposal would apply a 3.8% surtax to active business income for people making more than $200,000 a year.”
  7. Agreed. The most clear recent example was the poll showing massive portions of the population overestimate the chance of being hospitalized with Covid after diagnosis. The news has beat people over the head with Covid for 18 months with that result. Truly mind blowing.

  9. Home prices at ATH. Up 18.7% yoy. The Fed and govt response
  10. https://www.wsj.com/amp/articles/3-d-printed-houses-are-sprouting-near-austin-as-demand-for-homes-grows-11635240601 Another way that the labor shortage is leading to automation/innovation. It doesn’t mention where in austin metro they’ll be building them.
  11. There are people at the top of the pyramid that make decisions that affect every one of our lives, that are morally bankrupt. This one’s for Jimmy.
  12. Total scumbag. Great friend of Epstein. But at the same time one of the most connected men in the world of finance. Take that for what it’s worth.
  13. A quick refresh/update on the equity side. After looking into the miners a bit last week I ended up buying some HUT calls last Thursday. It appears to have the juice and has been outperforming the price of bitcoin recently. The old favorite RIOT has been more muted on this move up than it was earlier in the year. I also bought some more gbtc in my 401k after selling out of a biotech stonk. I remain irresponsibly long BTC and some of its proxies. currently own BTC/gbtc, SI, MSTR and HUT. And for those who would like a less volatile name that should grow alongside BTC over the longer term I’d suggest looking into SQ. They’re obviously a big company and have multiple business lines but the ceos commitment to BTC means it will be incorporated in their growth plans long term.
  14. You think Congress draws up tax provisions in legislation without Treasury input? I just thought it was a interesting coincidence given that the government is all MMTers now. Summers is obviously a heavyweight whose opinion is valued highly by the establishment. Also, IIRc he has been on the right side of the argument for years as inflation has been muted. So this is noteworthy.
  15. Thanks for the info. Ended up going with the Loews hotel. Used a hookup to get in the presale for tickets today. Can’t wait.
  16. Beyond any technical reasons, I think there’s just psychology behind it. The people most excited about Eth were upset because they “missed” BTC. The people most excited about Solana are upset because they “missed” Eth. And so on. Especially in crypto people just are drawn to the shiny new thing. And because that can feed on itself then the new coins can pump harder.
  17. Before People like WashPark get upset about CR, isn’t this just an example of MMTers using taxes to take excess money out of the economy to curb inflation? Wouldn’t that mean that they realize inflation needs to be moderated? Curious on the monetary policy opinions of this.
  18. Truer words have never been spoken. I picture a chef Salt Bae-ing some cilantro on tacos.
