  1. Love Brooks' motor. Even when he misses blocks he keeps looking for work. I hope it becomes contagious, and we see this kind of effort from the entire OL all year.
  2. Mack is the first that comes to mind.
  3. Filsame took at Star vs OU. I think Mack is in a tough spot right now.
  4. I think the Florida game was on the staff. Defensive game plan was just as bad. No idea what was with all the man coverage and contain rushes vs a hobbled QB. Manny being out hurt, which made the man coverage stuff even more perplexing. Lot of max protect and deep routes vs Florida, which I think I saw only 1 vs OU and that led to a sack.
  5. if they ran the OU gameplan vs Florida, I think Texas wins that game
  6. Manning was 15 of 17 for 155 yards when throwing from straight drop back. He was 14 of 15 when kept clean vs OU.. He is actually eally good in straight drop back.
  7. i did not say you are the lone offender. I got sucked into also. Plenty of fault to go around.
  8. can we stop bringing up Quinn in this thread? That goes to more than Derka. Not sure why anyone felt this was an appropriate time to delve into this again.
  9. Happy to slam Mack, but this is apples to oranges. OU has been a mess under Venable. OU rarely had a bad offense or team under Stoops.
  10. I think that is bit tougher than people think. He is running under center and turning his back. He needs to throw that with touch, because 22 in under the route. There is room there to do it. He just cannot throw it on a line. It is a missed opportunity, but I would rather he forego it than completely miss the defender under the receiver and turn it into a turnover.
  11. I think in the short game, 1st read Ewers was elite. His throws in the screen game were great. Ewers was not great in the intermediate last year at all. Arch was struggling in the intermediate, but that has gotten better so we shall see.
  12. Fine with it, just saying the game was essentially over at that point.
  13. OU DL is very good, but they dont really anchor well. They are movement-based DL. All those line games make them vulnerable to zone concepts. The crazy thing i noticed in this game is how many times Brooks is 20+ yards down field. That guy can fucking move given how big he is. Funny to see a 6'7" 350 chasing the RB just busting his ass trying to find more work.
  14. Sark coudl have just ran the ball and not trotted Shipley out for the kick and nobody would have batted an eye.
  15. I dont think the results would have been much different. Lot more sacks and a few more completions. I do not think the gameplan would have been the same though.
  16. he did that with 25 pressures on 27 attempted passes, that is what was impressive. Even with the dink and dunk offense, he wasnt throwing from a clean pocket. Those 25 pressures only netted a single sack on the day
  17. Yes, Safety had an angle on him. I am not confusing Arch with Lamar Jackson, but he is definitely above average in athleticism.
  18. You can only assume he pumped it, because he thought 22 was under the route in the window. He has to throw that over him, there is room. Think that was more a confidence thing, than not seeing it. He hit that same play for a TD to Livingstone earlier this year.
  19. Release times are function of game plan and mobility. Qbs that can move and buy time tend to have higher numbers. Think about that 3rd down dot to Livingstone. I am sure getting flushed and throwing outside the pocket took 3 seconds, but is that a bad thing? Vs Florida there were a lot of max protects and deeper routes. I only remember one deep shot attempt vs OU and that was the only sack. Counter-intuitive, but Texas is worse in protection with max protection. It is a solid data point when looking at a QB, but there are variables that need to be considered.
  20. He gets little credit for his work in the pocket. He is very good at making the first rusher miss. This is different game with another QB. Texas offensive line's pressure rate is 40.9%, which is the worst in the SEC and 124th nationally. Compare that to last year where "the Texas Longhorns offensive line allowed pressure on 25.8 percent of drop backs, which was the 29th best rate in the FBS. Sack numbers are way down (1.7 vs 2.3) this year, despite the substantially more pressure and so are the turnovers from the position.
  21. I think on 2nd watch the OL will not grade very well. Run game was a lot Wisner making individual plays. Pass pro was leaky. It was better, but still a lot of work to do
  22. nice pleasant watch
  23. OL still has a lot of work to do. I said this was the most physical I have ever seen Wisner run. He had 94 yards after contact in this game rushing, lot of those were legit contact (not weak arm tackles on a cut). 100% of his rushing stats came after contact. That masked a lot of issues on the OL. He was huge reason the Texas offense stayed on schedule
  24. Yes, crazy productive in limited snaps. Other under true radar guy was Brad Spence. He has some playmaker in him
  25. OU is vulnerable to OZ. They love to slant and go live games. Those can be used against them in OZ. They can get vertical and open up holes underneath. Crazy to think, but Texas has relied on the run game recently vs OU
