  1. There was a fight between DL coach and DC last year. DC won.
  2. I don’t disagree with this take, but it comes with a caveat. Baxter had moments where he showed 5 star potential, but he was constantly dinged up. I am not sure we saw much of a healthy Baxter. I think he limped off the field in his first 2 games.
  3. Baxter will be a difference maker this year, if he can stay healthy. Couple reasons: 1. He was the best blocking freshman RB I have ever seen. Probably the #1 reason he started the season as freshman. Trust me Arch is elated to have Baxter blocking for him, instead of someone like Blue. Keep in mind many anticipate Texas to take more play action shots. I cannot stress how important a good blocking RB can be for the passing game. 2. Even if he is not 100% healthy. He has the size to be the effective short yardage RB that Texas desperately missed last year. Just falling forward for 1 yard on a play blocked for 0 would make a difference. 3. Not discussed much, but he probably had the best hands of RBs. I cannot remember him dropping a pass. You get his big ass rolling in space, he is going to punish the secondary He doesn’t have to be 100% to do that.
  4. Julian Edelman is 5'10". Livingstone is 6'4". But yeah, they are both white
  5. The 2nd TE has never really been a factor in Sark's offense. 2021- Brewer 22 and Wiley 9 2022- Sanders 54 and Helm 5 2023- Sanders 45 and Helm 14 2024- Helm 60 and Davis 9 Shame Washington had a shoulder injury. Hard for any of us to know what kind of blocker he is right now. I would not be surprised if the Shannon/Washington split leans Shannon early and Washington later in the year. Getting 1 quality locker at TE would be meaningful for the Texas offense.
  6. No. It is just really about the DL. Made famous from Spagnola and the Giants, when he would put 4 DEs on the defensive line. Think Babers uses it for 3 DEs and a DT. Basically just a pass rushing personnel package.
  7. I would love Washington to supplant him, but it been a long time since Texas had a solid blocker at TE. It has been an issue in blocking for most of Sark's tenure. More focused with finding a capable blocker at TE to match with Endries. Not too worried about pass catching.
  8. can you let him know Texas has put DTs in the NFL draft and has had a defense that has pretty much owened the LOS the last 3 years.
  9. It is not a coincidence that Texas struggled vs teams with aggressive downhill safeties. Game has evolved. That pre-snap looks can be decieving. Lot of teams bring safeties down hard. Tom Herman is still trying to figure that out looking at the Iowa State defensive film.
  10. Bobby has Texas losing to OSU and Florida and runnign the table after that. He kept saying he thinks Texas will be a much different team later in the year.
  11. Not based on the draft. It was arguably the best pass blocking unit in the country last year. Feels like people watch the game and if there is a sack it is immediately the OLs fault. Despite mountains of evidence and research that is not the case.
  12. To your point on evaluating OL. There a lot of LT in the NFL that were grew into their bodies later. It a hard game to play, but I wouldnt mind offering a lighter kid with a basketball background as a 4th or 5th in classes (aka Goosby).
  13. there are 2 truths about the OL. The portal has very few quality bodies. Trying to get a legit dancing bear at LT from HS is an absolute bloodbath of a recruitment. There is a reason Tackle is the highest paid position in the NFL. They just are not a lot of them around. According to Spotrac.com, the average salaries for various position groups in the NFL for the 2024 season are as follows: Long Snapper: $1,069,016 Fullback: $1,724,440 Punter: $1,520,940 Running Back: $1,789,687 Cornerback: $1,999,348 Wide Receiver: $2,277,703 Tight End: $2,055,238 Safety: $2,196,749 Kicker: $2,228,472 Defensive Tackle: $2,496,660 Center: $2,394,058 Defensive End: $2,996,247 Guard: $2,500,421 Edge Rusher: $3,234,289 Outside Linebacker: $3,703,880 Inside Linebacker: $3,856,602 Quarterback: $4,855,892 Right Tackle: $5,128,198 Left Tackle: $8,952,680
  14. This can be a bit deceiving. Texas busted a bunch of screen passes. They are explosive gains, but not necessarily "chicks dig the long ball". Arch had an aDOT of 11.1 and Quinn was at 7.2. That is substantial and gives you bit more information on how far the pass traveled.
  15. If my memory is correct Texas could not cover crossing routes in that game
  16. mentioned this is the fall camp, but fits here. On the netflix SEC show Elko says that Texas throws more passes 5 yards or less than anyone in the country. That speaks a lot louder than Sark's words.
  17. I remember the big white kid lighting Texas up also .. Ugly day for the secondary, wasnt Barron hurt for most the game? (I think he missed the 1st half and came in later when things got a bit spicy)
  18. Houston QB lit the Texas secondary up to the tune of 32/46 for 378 yards. 3 WRs put up 80 or more yards. Stats were great, but he was not an outlier in the Houston WR corp that day.
  19. Not sure how many people watched On Given Saturday on Netflix, but Elko's comments on Texas were interesting. Prior to the game last year he said, "Nobody in the country throws the ball 5 yards or less more than Texas". Made me think about how different this offense is goign to look this year.
  20. I think people forget that Matthew Golden was not a splash pick-up. Known more for his return skills than his receiving. He was the 3rd leading receiver at Houston prior to coming to Texas (9 gamers, 404 yards, 44.9 per game). Hopefully, somoene makes a similar step in the WR room this year.
  21. habit from work. They block any curse words, so have to resort to misspelling them.
  22. Best guess is Bobby is well aware that the offense is probably going over a lot of their base offense early in camp and the wrinkles will come as camp progresses. This was probably his way of saying calm the fvck down this is normal camp sh!t
  23. I found this shocking. Who would have ever expected the offense to be running a lot of base plays the first week of camp.
