  1. I think people forget that Matthew Golden was not a splash pick-up. Known more for his return skills than his receiving. He was the 3rd leading receiver at Houston prior to coming to Texas (9 gamers, 404 yards, 44.9 per game). Hopefully, somoene makes a similar step in the WR room this year.
  2. habit from work. They block any curse words, so have to resort to misspelling them.
  3. Best guess is Bobby is well aware that the offense is probably going over a lot of their base offense early in camp and the wrinkles will come as camp progresses. This was probably his way of saying calm the fvck down this is normal camp sh!t
  4. I found this shocking. Who would have ever expected the offense to be running a lot of base plays the first week of camp.
  5. Saw Baker had issues with penalties. Then I saw someone saying he had the pleasure of getting Simmons in front of him. That is a complete mismatch (Simmons vs any RT is a mismatch). Baker being jumpy to get out of stance vs Simmons is quite understandable. I would not be surprised if that match up was a coach's decision. A little trial by fire early in camp.
  6. We will see on the OL. Arch is going to help the run game. His legs will keep the backside from crashing. He also likes to go deep. Safeties are not going to be able to play flat footed against Texas this year.
  7. Need to cut down turnovers. Last year the QBs committed 20 turnovers in 16 games (3 arch/17 Quinn). That is behind one of the best defenses in the country on team where the offense wasn’t asked to carry a heavy load. I am assuming the defense will be a top 10 unit this season. Have to cut down on the turnovers that can erase quality defensive performances this season
  8. I think it is the specialization of these kids. A lot of these kids play baseball almost year round. 30 years ago any decent athlete played 2-3 sports.
  9. You have to look at the competition also. Texas is the SEC favorite at +270. The other SEC contenders are considered to be Georgia (+330), Bama (+380), and LSU (+700). Georgia and Bama are breaking in inexperienced players. LSU is only one of the top 4 teams that has an experienced QB and they are not on the schedule. The other big game Texas has is OSU, who is breaking in a new QB.
  10. This makes me happy. This is a common mistake for NFL guys. Wink Martindale learned it the hard way. Michigan fans were very down on him early and in particular his 3rd down defense. He would dial up NFL blitzes and some receiver would get lost in the secondary. These guys love to exotic and forget they have a talent advantage in 80-90% of their games. I hope Patricia falls into this trap
  11. Always hard to use average recoveries with individuals. There will always be good and bad exceptions. All we know is he has moved up the depth chart and according to recent reports getting carries ahead of Gibson. I had written him off as an early contributor, but this seems be a positive data point that indicates his recovery is coming along much faster than most expected.
  12. Sounds like Clark has passed Gibson based on practice intel from OTF, but still a long way to go until camp ends.
  13. Unlike McJaggerson comments, I really hope you are right on this one.
  14. Hill and Simmons are 1st round talents. You cannot replace their production, but I feel like there is quality depth behind them. I cannot put Goosby ahead of those guys, but I have the suspicion the drop from Goosby to the next LT might be as large as any position outside of QB.
  15. Goosby? I think he is more of a typical LT. Great feet and mobility, but not a guy you run a ton power behind. Young player with no spring game, so who the fvck really knows. You can say that about most the OL. I think RB might be a true committee this year. Wisner will play. Baxter will play. He was the best blocking RB as a true freshman with a new OL and young Qb that has real value. I assume someone out of Clark, Simon, and Gibson will likely emerge as a viable 3rd. That is my guess.
  16. interesting post, not that there is anything wrong with that
  17. Goosby's health was easily top 5 on the roster, prior to this. It is even more important now. You lose 2 people from any group, and it becomes a problem. This is not special to the tackle position. RT is a spot that Texas has some answers. Not sure that can be said for LT. Flood as recruited a decent amount of OG/RT types. Assuming Goosby performs as expected (going off memory, but I believe he had ~315 snaps without giving up a single QB hit), Texas can leave him on an island and help the RT. Injuries are never good, but I can think of at least 20 others that would have had more impact on the season.
  18. appreciate the jab at Satya, but that list has 103 RBs on it. it is pretty meaningless
  19. it is pretty simple. Texas just put on pads yesterday. It's a long season. The staff should be extremely cautious this time of year. There is nothing to be gained rushing a player back in August.
  20. I generally think posting anything vs air is a total waste of time, unless it is shitty. Every P4 Qb should look like a future HOF NFL player vs air. That is a really bad sign.
  21. Flood has not taken a lot of true left tackles, at least according to the industry "professionals". Goosby is probably the last true tackle that Flood has taken. He is a size queen. Lot of RT/Guard combo type players. Keep in mind I believe that NFL RT is more than capable of playing LT in college and even some guard/centers can work.
  22. Stop. It hurts the depth of the OL, but he likely was not even going to start. He was not even a lock to be 2nd string by the end of the season.
  23. i can go over Ewer's miscues but let's focus on Moore dropping a ball where he was staring directly into the sun. This implies Worthy Worthy never dropped a ball.
  24. Believe today was the first day with pads, so this may have been contact. This might be the scariest time of the year for coaches and fans. You want to have a great and physical camp to prepare for the season, but you also want to get out healthy. There will always be some injuries, you just hope they are not detrimental to the season.
  25. Not like this was a bad or even a mediocre WR room. I'd bet we will look back at 24 and say he was throwing to 3 NFL talents. It was a downgrade from what was a historic Texas level, but still at a level that would make 95% or more of college Qbs jealous.
