Speaking of, did any of you happen to catch the High Fidelity forum at Bass with John Cusack this past week?

He's a Sphynx. The only real hair he has is on his nose. The rest feels like peach fuzz. And a big Rocky Burnette fan.
  4. That article was better when he titled it "no need to pump the breaks..." before he corrected it. Much more accurately aggy.
  5. Probably, for at least some of that. He boosts with Xotic's EP booster, but he adds drive with all kinds of stuff. If I had to guess, I'd go D&M Drive or maybe Plimsoul. He's also keen to drive with the bare amp, and the HRD IV is supposed to have an updated killer drive channel. Edit: Ah! He's not using a King of Tone clone like the D&M Drive, he's using an actual King of Tone.
  6. I was raised on country music, mostly 70s and 80s glamour cowboy stuff - Ronnie, Kenny, T.G. Shepard, Eddie Rabbitt, John Conlee, Anne Murray, Janie Fricke, that kind of stuff. But I grew to like just about everything country up until the genre died in the late 90s. RIP Of course I dig the Outlaws, too. Ran into this hoss in Mesa, Arizona:
  7. "Pete used a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe IV and Lee a Milkman Dairy Air into a Victory 2x12 cabinet." Pete Honoré, the dude on the right, makes just about anything wail, but he's particularly on with that Tele and HRD. Amazing tone.
  8. Listen to the toanz! Same channel, with Teles imbued by God:

I'm a DM & Flood fan. Anything pre or post, meh. Violator is an all-time great album. I'd put it up there with Master Of Puppets and Girl You Know It's True.

I bought Devotional on LaserDisc before I even had a LaserDisc player. That concert is still in my Top 10 all-time greatest gigs.
  12. I don't get the Bonamassa hate. I get that he's not the most soulful player, but so what? It's still possible to enjoy and appreciate what he does do even though listening isn't some sort of religious experience. To wit: I don't care what you say. That was damn enjoyable. It even has Jack Nicholson on sax. Fuck you.

Bit the bullet on my first adult record player, Pro-Ject RPM 1 Carbon. I upgraded to the acrylic platter but not gonna touch the stylus until I do more research. The Ortofon Red it comes with should tide me over till it doesn't. Have the Pro-Ject dust cover coming over from Germany, but probably should have just opted for a generic so I don't have to wait. I have Pro-Ject leather mat, but am thinking I need the Pro-Ject weight just to complete the set. The records are all out of storage and most are in the Expedit shelves. When it's all set up I'll post pics. I love seeing other setups, so I should probably share...
  15. The staff pulled a Black Lotus on their opening draw with this visit. Herman and co. spawned right next to a legendary SCAR when he arrived for his official. I'm told his experience was a perfect power loop and yaw spin. In talking with someone close to the situation, his unofficial was finding a T206 Honus Wagner in the attic.
  16. Did you know Eduardo Perez is Hall of Famer Tony Perez's son? I don't know if you know that.
  17. Even with the second chance you knew it was just a matter of time.
  18. The first 10 minutes of Wall-E is sublime movie making.
  19. If you are needing work space, I have the first desk I used as a studio workstation sitting in the garage waiting for a purpose in life. I moved to something larger with integrated rack spaces, but as a music workstation it'll accomodate a lot. It's the black desk from those first pics I posted way back on the other board. So, if you have a eidetic memory, that's the one. And I have a rolling sturdy af carpeted Odyssey rack that can accomodate like 20 spaces or something, also pictured in that other thread, that's minty and taking up space in the garage. They are both yours if you want them and can pick them up. Either way, will follow this thread because I enjoy a good love story.
  20. Dammit, Doug. I can't unsee bowling shirt.
