  1. I do not see how this cannot be considered tampering. The Knicks sent front office staff to the playoff games, hiring Rick Brunson, now all these moves made and in place with financial numbers worked out. I know the league has often turned a blind eye but this seems extreme. That said, not salty he is leaving. He had a good playoffs but I dont think he is worth this much money.
  2. The Knicks worked a trade to dump salary to clear room for Brunson.
  3. Their way of sticking it to aggy? Or jeans/casual Friday.
  4. https://www.cnn.com/2022/06/24/us/forney-texas-school-district-dress-code-ban/index.html A North Texas school district has updated its dress code for the upcoming school year to ban hooded clothing as well as dresses and skirts for many of its grade levels, reasoning that the change will help students in their future careers. The new policy, which applies to all 18 of FISD's schools, prohibits clothing such as hoodies, coats and jackets with hoods inside the school, and also forbids students in grades five and above from wearing dresses, skirts or skorts. The dress code also requires students to wear solid colored shirts and slacks, shorts or capri pants in navy blue, black or khaki colors. Among the things the dress code prohibits are demin pants, sleeveless shirts, t-shirts, overalls or clothing with holes in it. The district emphasized in its announcement of the policy change that the shift is intended to prepare students to enter the workplace. It also said the policy gives FISD "a positive and distinctive identity" and reflects the "values of the schools and community,"
  5. Excerpt from the Stern interview I referenced: As such, NFL retirees can never return to their sport like many other professional players often do–most succumb to injury: “When I retired, that helmet went on the shelf and I’ve never put it on again. It’s so finite. It’s done.” Goose said he was now 45 years-old, and, given both his father’s early passing (at 47) and a laundry list of football injuries, every day is a gift: “If I die tomorrow, I tell my wife, just put a smile on my face, put a little Sinatra on…”
  6. The Detroit Pistons are trading forward Jerami Grant to the Portland Trail Blazers for a 2025 first-round pick via the Milwaukee Bucks, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. The 2025 first-round pick via Milwaukee is protected Nos. 1-4, sources said. Detroit sends Grant into a $21 million trade exception, and the Pistons now have $43 million in salary cap space for free agency.
  7. Tony told some great stories when he went on the Howard Stern show about 10 years ago. Such a personality.
  8. Depending on what Houston is trying to accomplish with their draft picks tonight, I could see the Wood trade being modified and an extra team(s) being added to the deal to facilitate multiple moves.
  9. Fuck all this.
  10. The helmet situation is a nightmare. Sent helmets in for reconditioning in November, was told we might get them early August. Asked about placing an order for new helmets and back ordered until February.
  11. I am guessing there would be mutual interest in trying to bring Boban back. He loves Dallas, fan favorite, and Luka's buddy. If Houston cuts him, he cannot resign with Dallas. If Houston trades him, that team cuts him, he can resign with Dallas.
  12. I am a big fan of Blvd.
  13. I saw Wicked Thursday and agree they were pretty strict at Gershwin. When I went to Natural History Museum, they told everyone at the door you had to mask up. Did not come across as optional. Beyond those two places, masks seemed optional and at no point did I have to show proof of vax.
  14. Find it.
  15. Marc Stein reported via his Substack (subscription required) that the Mavs are preparing to keep both Pinson and Marjanovic on their roster for next season. Pinson was on a two-way deal this year, but he must move to the standard roster spot because he will be entering his fifth NBA season. Keeping both Pinson and Marjanovic almost guarantees the Mavericks will make a trade this summer as they would have 15 players under contract before re-signing Jalen Brunson. Expect Dallas to be active and aggressive as they look to improve their roster around superstar Luka Doncic. Boban Marjanovic and Theo Pinson both played a key role in the Dallas Mavericks' run to the Western Conference Finals, even if they saw limited time on the court. Expect them to bring the energy next season as Dallas attempts to make another deep playoff run.
  16. The NBA has got the most confusing CBA in regards to contracts and finances. I did not know this was a thing for sign and trades: Brunson is expected to command $20-plus million per season in free agency, which would allow Dallas to acquire another premium role player in return, but sign-and-trades the rules are a bit different. Only 50 percent of JB’s new salary would be allowed to come back to Dallas, but the full $20 million counts going in the other direction. If Brunson signed for $20 million, the Mavs would only be able to acquire a player making $10 million in return, per ESPN’s Bobby Marks (subscription required). The math of a sign-and-trade would be difficult and that CBA rule would limit what the Dallas Mavericks could acquire in return. Do the Mavs want to lose their second-leading scorer for a role player making approximately $10 million? They may be able to acquire multiple pieces, but it would still be difficult to get enough value back in the deal.
