  1. Last week there was some noise around a company that was able to be as fast and good as OpenAI (plus or minus 10%, let's say) with like 1% of the investment or something that OpenAI had to date. I'll try to find it, but essentially homeboy tweeted out an acknowledgement of that fact with a "it's easier to copy someone who has already done the hard part" in the standing-on-the-shoulders-of-giants sort of way. But just like the Cloud Wars, the big winners are going to be legacy big tech and the decacorns of today, IMO.
  2. And because China's chips/capabilities are orders of magnitude behind ours (e.g. nvidia) which is why nvidia got peeved with the latest announcements of restrictions to export to that part of the world (though likely the new administration will strike it down, thus nvidia stock has rebounded). But, that won't be the case forever. We can look at EV's (BYD) as the example of catching up when the innovation is one and it's mass production, operationalizing and commodotizing time. There will certainly be huge losers, but the bigger risk is to sit idly and let the opportunity pass you by and you attrit to nothing slowly (then quickly). Unless you think AI is NOT going to be transformational in the way mobile or the internet was, then you keep your powder dry and play it safe, but I don't think many serious business or industry pundits are that contrarian or bearish on AI; today presently, since November 2022, and even before when AI was quietly being worked on.
  3. One of the consequences of going all in with globalism (not that there was much of a choice) is that you can't just put the toothpaste back in the tube. Systems, people and processes-- business, money, and governments-- are way too complex and enmeshed and entangled to simply do what you suggest.
  4. It's interesting and I've read a lot of commentary how usually when leaders do layoffs, unless it's whole swaths of departments or roles being eliminated, it's of course the lowest performers. But it's uncouth to say that because it makes it harder for those recently laid off to get a job if the new company and interviewers think "dang, this guy/gal was laid off because they were in the lowest bucket, I bet they kinda suck".
  5. har har, what a sick burn.
  6. Wow, that is actually quite awesome/amazing.
  7. Man, I don't care what y'all say, Yang is hilarious. Sheeeez, I ain't scared of y'all.
  8. Inflation and price of eggs is, apparently, undefeated.
  9. Clicked on this thread thinking we were talking about the guy who broke his hip wrestling with God.
  10. I saw a youtube video a few weeks ago that outlines the construction of this beat and it was next level for sure. I'll try and find it.
  11. Fake. AI. Who kisses with head tilting to the left.
  12. I bet you are really fun at parties!
  13. How does the surly hip hop fan community feel about the latest takeover:
  14. Yea I mean it's clear in the verbiage this is a move to cut fat and low performers. Can't really hate that.
  15. Breaking news. Mark Zuckerberg has just announced. Meta is set to cut another 5% of its workforce. Which comes out to be 3600 people. And that's on top of the 21,000 job cuts already done. Zuckerberg says the cuts are in preparation for ‘intense year’
  16. Thought Juvenile did it better a long time ago:
  17. If I am Quinn Ewers and I watched Sam Darnold cost himself a lucrative contract last night, I think to myself, "Am I better than that guy?" "No? and XYZ will pay me $5+mm for a last year in college? Okay deal."
  18. Who is we? You work for Meta?
  19. I love the chance to dunk on MAGA's but not really understanding your police work here, Lou. California (a state) has wildfires every year. Asheville (a city) has two major hurricanes in 100 years. What exactly are you trying to say?
  20. have no idea what you mean
  21. Well, like the poster above said, the real fall-out of all this is that the D's lose credibility in the Arab and Arab-American eyes as a serious party who can implement and execute on their behalf instead of just lip service (if that).
  22. "Contine as a Guest" is my best friend.
  23. The epitome of the grifter, no doubt.
