  1. I agree. It's bad personal business. Again, though, we have a generation of folks (2010 grads and beyond) who have known nothing but a bull market that rains money and opportunity. It's like being on a heater at the blackjack table for 10 hands in a row and never having lived through a couple of bad beats and losing decks. When it comes, attitudes and mindsets will shift, both from employers and employees. Our economy is a dynamic one with ebbs and flows and puts and takes and puts and pulls-- to think we were just going to grow forever because TINA or Financial Manifest Destiny is silly and for the younger folks unless they take heed from their seniors, parents, elders, mentors whomever, they have to live through bear markets and recessions before they get their arms around what the American economy, jobs, etc. is really about. In my opinion. And it's going to get really bad for the younger generation as we head into the recession. There are like three well written articles out the past two weeks alone about how Generation Z's or Alphas whatever they are called, are already over their skis in the boom times! The Buy Now Pay Later companies like Affirm, Afterpay, Klarna, etc. "few of the services do significant credit checks, which would help determine whether people will be able to repay the loans. And plenty of people are spending more than they can afford: 43% of Gen Z users have missed at least one payment, according to a survey by the polling site Piplsay. Of Gen Z consumers who used a point-of-sale loan for something they needed, 30% missed at least two payments, according to a survey by Credit Karma." Attitude adjustments are coming.
  2. There are a lot of younger people who have never professionally lived through a recession who are about to have a rude awakening. Summer children of the “more jobs than people” buyers market has many people in many industries accustomed to being sought after and accommodated with increasing perks and many options to leave for more money, faster career growth, or just the first slight to their ego. Attitudes change quickly when employers tighten their belts, freeze hiring and then start laying off and all of a sudden that crappy job seems like a pretty good deal. Einstein had a story about a hand on a stove that highlights the phenomenon better than me, but that’s my opinion.
  3. Anyone read any Joshua Cohen? He's been one of the more interesting writers for the last 7 or 8 years (and is even the recipient of one of the best critical review burns), and he's been on my radar as I've been wanting to read Book of Numbers for a while. He just won this year's Pulitzer with a book that is supposed to be flat out amazing. I've ordered it today: https://www.pulitzer.org/winners/joshua-cohen
  4. I think I called it.
  5. If you are going to flagrantly foul, then flagrantly foul. Half measures get you nowhere.
  6. This has gone sideways fast.
  7. 4 point play though.
  8. Wow this sixers/heat game sucks to watch. I hope this isn't a harbinger for Mavs/Suns.
  9. Twitter even down 30% or whatever is still overvalued and there is room to drop, in my opinon.
  10. What I want to see is the value of the high profile athletes and celebrities we heard about taking bitcoin payment for their contracts and salary. Oof. That said, I'm not bearish on crytpo or even NFT's and web3, I do think that the fall is because of the broader tech sell-off and looming recession.
  11. receipts? i have never heard that. I'm a Horford fan just because I like players who are able to string together years at a high or even medium level and have long careers.
  12. I wouldn't be that tough as long as they know the short dunk king Baron Davis.
  13. I love the white dork tech bros near the court side seats with their bored ape yacht club hoodies and NFT avatars on their fitted caps, just pouring salt into the wounds of those whom would hate the warriors because their fans are so douchey.
  14. Let's go Dubs!
  15. At the end of the season. He had a great first half of the season but since the playoffs he's not been Playoff Steph I've grown accustomed to.
  16. Memphis playing scrappy today and GSW just having a bad game, and it's still going to be a last possession wins type game. It's been a shame that SC30 has been so mortal since his injury, as a big fan.
  17. Don't talk about my boy Bogdanovich.
  18. This one is going to go to the wire.
  19. Cute pics. That last pic was our favorite restaurant (Belle's castle) last we went back before Covid.
  20. Forgot Wesley Matthews was still in the NBA.
  21. I came across an article I really wanted to read today about the founder and former CEO of Bonobos but it's paywalled. Anyone have access to copy and share? Apparently this guy has some demons: https://www.theinformation.com/articles/the-haunting-of-andy-dunn From a different article:
  22. But really, why is he on this team? When would be the situation he plays? He’s more famous for his personality and tv commercials than his basketball contributions but is too good to come in with the bench at the end of a playoff game close out?
  23. I dare someone to say something bad about him right now.
