  1. That was implied.
  2. What was that running to the wall thing with Kenny all about? I’m so old and confused.
  3. The one thing I hadn’t thought of that Fatty brought up that rings sympathetic to me is not the ones who paid their loans off and don’t get a rebate (like y’all, I paid my wife’s loans who doesn’t even work and likely will never even use her degree and don’t begrudge it), but actually the ones who did the math and determined they couldn’t responsibly take out a $100k loan for an economics degree or signed up for the military for the free college after 4 years and might or might not have lost a leg or something. They might have missed out on $10-50k in help, in hindsight by being austere and responsible.
  4. OTE? Category?
  5. IBM is a miserable existence.
  6. Spoiler alert:
  7. This page is pure phantasmagoria. I love it.
  8. The article I was reading said this below, and had a hyperlink to the fuller argument, which I've copied and pasted here (https://www.nytimes.com/2022/04/06/business/economy/student-loan-pause-inflation.html) if you want to read up on why/how people are saying inflation can be impacted or exacerbated. Personally I thought homeboy had a good reply and it makes logical sense to me that the impact on inflation would be negligible because Americans are Americans, meaning they are already pumping their student loan payment into the economy instead of saving it and so this forgiveness would be baked into the inflation statistics already more or less: A recent Morning Consult poll found that more than 60 percent of registered voters were in favor of some level of student debt cancellation. But despite Mr. Biden’s campaign promise, his advisers have been divided, three people with knowledge of the discussions said. Some view debt cancellation as relief for critical constituencies, said the people, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly. Others oppose it as bad policy or because they fear the economic effects of putting more money in consumers’ pockets when inflation is soaring.
  9. You can't discharge in bankruptcy. Which should be the first lever that gets pulled on this topic and I think would have 99% agreement on this website. Otherwise, I have a nit of @Eastwood. I think this is an opinion, and a wrong one at that, which fails the entire point being made: Also another nit @RomaVicta: "gypped" is problematic, at best, and a slur at worst. Let's say "cheated" or some other word.
  10. The first domino dropped today? The Biden administration is canceling the student loans of 28,000 student borrowers who attended a chain of cosmetology schools that no longer exists. Any student who borrowed money to attend the Marinello Schools of Beauty between 2009 and 2016 is eligible for the relief, which totals $238 million. It's the latest move by the Biden administration "to address the politically charged issue of student-debt forgiveness," says The Wall Street Journal. Around 40 million people in the U.S. have student loan debt. https://www.wsj.com/articles/biden-to-forgive-238-million-in-cosmetology-school-student-loans-11651140001?
  11. I only have grad school (federal) loans left. $10k won't pay them all, but I'll sure take the help and I hope they won't be means tested.
  12. Tell me you don’t have kids and/or haven’t seen Shrek without telling me you don’t have kids/haven’t seen Shrek.
  13. Good points, all around. I’m sold let’s do it!
  14. Matthew Stafford shaved his playoff beard!
  15. I like it, it's a mind-bender for sure. Not sure what sort of audience or following this has gotten because it's confusing and a minor Marvel property, but it's been...interesting I guess. Not sure it's been good.
  16. Bones Hyland is like Ja Morant if Ja was weaker and too skinny.
  17. I can't unsee Matthew Stafford now when I see Elon Musk, especially in that AT&T commercial they are spamming during the playoffs.
  18. We all saw it. Shhhh.
  19. Eminem won the diss battle imo, but like I said and probably an unpopular music opinion, MGK landed the hardest punch against Em ever attempted with the benefit of time to be objective. Eminem basically ended his rap career though, but again, good for him for finding a second act as a punk rocker who may or may not know how to play the guitar. https://www.eonline.com/news/1322487/machine-gun-kelly-calls-out-tiktok-user-claiming-he-doesnt-actually-play-his-guitar
  20. The flip side is seeing smoke that a loan forgiveness jubilee could exacerbate inflation. I'm not smart enough to know about the economics of it all, but that seems not good. But maybe the good of $10k loan forgiving is greater than the bad of additional inflation in a mid-term year.
  21. Seeing a bit of "where there is smoke there is fire" with Biden potentially signing an EO to forgive up to $10k of federal student loans to head into mid-terms with a bump in favorability and popularity. That would be AWESOME.
  22. Will it pair with Five Alive?
  23. Rough times for subscription service businesses with stock prices but also some data/info now that there is some distance from the Joe Rogan controversy for Spotify. Spotify’s Joe Rogan problem might not be a problem at all. The streaming giant reported a 15% increase in premium subscribers year-over-year, reaching 182 million globally by the end of March, despite continued controversy over Rogan’s podcast. Earlier this year, artists like Neil Young and Joni Mitchell left Spotify in response to Rogan’s spread of vaccine misinformation, and members got hashtags like #SpotifyDeleted trending on Twitter. These protests don’t appear to have hurt Spotify—overall active monthly users also rose to 422 million up from 406 million in late 2021. Rogan later apologized, but said he gained 2 million new subscribers as a result of the controversy around his podcast. Spotify noted that they slightly missed subscriber estimates due to its suspension of services in Russia after the start of the war in Ukraine. After releasing its first quarter report, Spotify’s stock price fell to an all-time low despite its positive subscriber growth. Analysts at companies like Citi and JPMorgan said they were concerned about operating losses and gross margins for the next quarter.
  24. Lillard’s wingspan is surprising. I loved him in his prime but he’s the exhibit A of how fast you seem to fall off a cliff when your “athleticism” peak is over, which doesn’t bode well for Ja if making that comp.
  25. And he’s got that Pete Davidson vibe to him that women seem to be enjoying.
