  1. There's a lot of love on this board for both of those bottles, and those prices are perfectly reasonable. I personally don't love the 1897 or the 1920 as much as many seem to. I prefer the 1910. But buy one or both, try 'em, and see what you think. Part of the fun is trying different bourbons and ryes, and figuring out what tastes good to you. Cheers!
  2. I love both versions. The remake hews closer to the book (which is a good thing) and if pressed I would say I like the Coen Brothers' film better, but I will watch either film if I happen to encounter it during channel surfing. That's the original Greaser Bob . . .
  3. https://www.yahoo.com/sports/dea-agent-who-helped-put-viktor-bout-behind-bars-slams-brittney-griner-swap-we-couldnt-even-get-two-people-for-the-worlds-most-notorious-weapons-trafficker-220232108.html One interesting (and alarming) part of this article (toward the end) is the comment by the DEA agent who headed the sting operation that nabbed Bout in response to suggestions that it won't be easy for Bout to resume arms trafficking after being "out of the game" so long and very restricted in terms of where he can travel. The DEA agent, Pasquarello, said, “I think it’s very easy for him to get back into business. I’ve heard that Viktor’s not a threat, that he can’t travel anymore, that he’s going to be isolated. He was like that for 10 years before we arrested him. He knew he couldn’t go anywhere and he still operated from his safe spots.” I figure that if anyone knows how easy or difficult it would be for Bout to resume his activities, it would be this guy Pasquarello.
  4. She may have been thinking that she didn't really have a choice to not return to Russia because that's where she earned her livelihood. Still, if that was in fact her mindset, she should have been cognizant of the geopolitical environment (as you note), realized that tensions would be increased, and aware that it would be particularly unwise (even more so than usual) to attempt to bring an illegal substance in with her. I tend to agree with your last sentence. But I'm also pretty confident that she had no idea that the Russian authorities would basically use her as a pawn in a much bigger game.
  5. I think she can reasonably be classified as a political prisoner. I think the charges were trumped up -- the quantify of the substance was very small and I'm sure that other persons entering Russia get away with the same thing without being charged at all or charged as heavily as she was. And I have no problem believing that Russian authorities were watching her and waiting for an opportunity to catch her in some kind of ostensibly illegal act as part of a plan to effectuate this exact result. I also think griner nonetheless stupidly had a hand in creating the situation by attempting to enter the country with a quantity (no matter how small) of a substance she knew was illegal, and that she therefore helped create leverage for Russia to get a very bad man out of U.S. custody. It's possible to be both appreciative of the fact she has been released from custody but also somewhat resentful that her actions helped Viktor Bout go free.
  6. This is where I'm at. It's obvious the charges against her were trumped up and fuck Russia in the goat ass with a rusty scalpel But because of her fucking stupidity, a really dangerous man is now out of U.S. control and custody. So . . . welcome home, Brittney Griner. And fuck you. You better hope Viktor Bout causes no harm to your fellow American citizens in the future.
  7. So is this Willson flipping the bird to Hoyer? Or just taking the best offer that was out there? https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/35204413/source-cardinals-willson-contreras-reach-5-year-875m-deal I appreciate all you did in Chicago, Willy, but . . .
  8. Any loss sucks, but to blow it like that at the end of reg was a kick to the nutsack.
  9. Gonna get it on in the afterlife now. https://www.yahoo.com/sports/mills-lane-an-international-boxing-hall-of-fame-referee-dies-at-85-185044746.html
  10. I can respect Duggan as a very good college QB without wanting him to win the award that is ostensibly supposed to go to the best player in all of college football. That's because Duggan most certainly is NOT the best player . . . or even the best QB. He's good, but he's not *that* good. Stop holding back and tell us how you really feel.
  11. One of the weakest groups of Heisman finalists ever.
  12. My dad had a Cutlass Supreme (circa the 76-78 period) that he had special ordered from the factory, and that thing had a ton of problems. In the 80's, I learned how to drive on a hand-me-down 1977 Toyota Corolla with a manual transmission. I think there were lawn mowers with bigger engines than that car. And the undercarriage rusted through. Toward the end of its life, if you pulled up the floor mats, you'd see daylight.
  13. Yeah, the program is on the exact same trajectory as evidenced by the tenor of message board threads. When did you have the lobotomy?
  14. Lulz. You latch on to one poster's probably-drunken tirade and ascribe it to an entire "fanbase." At least be honest.
  15. You seem obsessed with Sark. It's time for you to get over being butthurt that he dumped UW to jump to USC. It was a long time ago.
  16. I've seen two betting lines so far -- one had Texas -3.5 and the other was -4.5. Those numbers will likely change depending on whether Bijan and others opt out.
  17. I was there. That 4th quarter was glorious. Yelled myself hoarse.
  18. Seems we've had some stealth visitors from the Pacific NW. https://hardcorehusky.com/discussion/102560/dialed-in FWIW, he's already told at least one media outlet that he intends to play.
  19. The guy that Martinez had beaten out for the starting job coming into the season?
  20. Even the K-State team that Texas beat in Manhattan? Hokay . . .
  21. That will piss me off if it happens. I have no love for TCU, but Bama in no way deserves to be in the CFP. They lost twice and the only reason they don't have a third loss on their record (Texas) is because of the fucking refs. Every neutral observer who I saw comment on that game felt that Texas outplayed Alabama.
  22. Check the replay -- there was no way the ball was going to cross the LOS, whether in play or not. It wasn't close at all. Notably, the line judge didn't even fucking look at the ball as it traveled OOB to even attempt to make a determination on whether it would have crossed the LOS before being caught. And isn't it convenient that it was a person on the Baylor sideline who caught the ball in the air before it could hit the ground? But putting that aside, the trajectory of the ball in comparison to the LOS clearly shows that it was not going to get to the LOS unless it did something completely at odds with the laws of physics.
