2025 MLB thread
Marte said the fan yelled "I sent your mom a text last night". That's worthy of a lifetime ban from all MLB stadiums?

Rumor on the street is that Stone and Hilton are suing Brent Webster over his asteroid in the anus comment.

Texas may have accidentally legalized marijuana
I've been speaking with a few reps trying to get some carve outs for those of us selling legit products. They're too focused on gas station trash and prohibiting products not tested in Texas. Goddammit all of our CBD products have trace THC from hemp but they're tested in Colorado. I shouldn't need to pay more money to another company to retest everything.

Trivial Things That Make You Surly
I don't know who started the whole saying bless you after a cough trend but it needs to stop. You only do that for sneezes.

Things you really just don't get...
You should drive around the Frisco and Plano area to see everyone, and I mean everyone, with a bright yellow "student driver" sticker on their car.

Trivial Things That Make You Surly
Facebook's report function is totally broken. I've seen a lot of local businesses get their page taken over by Nigerian and Native American scammers. Facebook just refuses to do anything about it. I also had a former coworker get hacked and Facebook refused to take down her original page despite all of us reporting that it was stolen. Last week we had a guy show up looking for her. She hadn't worked here in nearly a decade and was retired. Told us he sent a few thousand dollars worth of bitcoin to the scammer in exchange for things she was "selling" and wanted his bitcoin back. Sorry bud you ain't getting any of that back.

Israel is attacking Iran
Iran just struck Tel Aviv and CNN says dozens of more ballistic missiles are on their way. Holy shit.

All things Apple, the tech not the fruit
The fact that no one has said a word about the recent announcements from Apple says everything you need to know about the direction of the company. Transparent buttons and now CarPlay plays video? Great job Apple. Way to push out technology that's been on the market for a decade. Next year I predict they'll make a CD player that doesn't skip when you jog with it.

Random thoughts that don't warrant a thread
Aren't those 2 pairs of the same thing? Bath sheet = bath towel. Face towel = wash cloth. Only 1 of those belong in the bathroom. Wash cloths stay in the kitchen or the garage.

Random thoughts that don't warrant a thread
It was uncommon in my home growing up. Mom made us use a fresh towel for every shower. Didn't learn until college that most people don't do that.

Texas Softball 2025 - Second to no one.
Congrats to Tech on their million dollar player. We'll take the championship instead.

Texas Rangers 2025: Pitching has been fire. Bats not so much.
1 hour 50 minutes is the shortest 9 inning game in Texas Rangers history

The Supremes
Ames opinion is live. Unanimous opinion written by Jackson with a Thomas concurrence. The heightened standard for majority groups to prevail on a Title VII claim does not jive with the law or court precedent. 6th circuit vacated and remanded.

anyone with identity theft experience?
There could be a real chance that someone else is being associated with your wife's SSN. It doesn't mean they're going to these places saying "I'm Wiler77's wife and my social is 123-45-6789". When you do a records search on me there is a guy in Houston associated with my social. He's not impersonating me at all but somehow he's connected to my social. It could be something as simple as records mistyped and it got gobbled up by a data broker before it was corrected. Your best move at this point is to freeze your credit with the big 3 bureaus, get all 3 credit reports, and then get a LexisNexus report as well. All of this is free.

Holy shit I'm glad I jinxed us last night

Texas Rangers 2025: Pitching has been fire. Bats not so much.
I got bored at lunch yesterday so I did some math. If we had league average ERA (3.99) our Pythagorean W/L would be 21-36. That would put us at 3rd worst in the AL, 4th worst in MLB. If you look at the 1973 Rangers team (I only picked them because they had the worst record for a 162 game season in franchise history) they won game 21 on June 20th. Point is: this team sucks. Don't let the standings fool you. If we don't start swinging the bats it's only going to get worse

We have the worst OBP in the league. Wow.

Texas BBQ
There's no doubt that Snow's puts out some great BBQ but there's great BBQ everywhere these days and plenty of joints that don't require you to line up at 2am so you can eat at 10.

Texas BBQ
Glad to see B4 in Mabank made the list. Still surprised that Brix didn't crack the top 50. I feel like they were really close in 2021 but not enough to push them over the edge this year. I feel like DFW as a whole got crushed. All of the good Q seems to be moving south which sucks because I hate driving but at the same time it means new flavors and experiences.

Big day tomorrow! Any predictions? Goldie's still gonna be number 1? Franklin falls out of the top 10?

Texas BBQ
If you know a really good BBQ joint that's not very busy, this is the weekend to soak it all in before Texas Monthly releases the new top 50 next week.
