  1. After they get killed despite having not 11, not 12, but 55 men, they can start a new tradition: the 56th man. Everyone makes cult noises and waves either a telescope (underclassmen) or a wallet about. It symbolizes their need to search and ability to pay for a bigger, better team.
  2. Maybe have a safe thread or safe forum for snowflakes, newbs, etc. Those of us willing to hang out with well-adjusted humans and/or the ignorant masses could drop in and post nuggets from the nuclear emotional wasteland that is the surl.
  3. Texas played Alabama this year and is set to play Alabama or Michigan if we beat Washington. We have games against Michigan, OSU, and Alabama in the coming years. I listed out our record against the top cluster of schools in the "weeks top 5 versus weeks in poll" graph. Some will want to add another blue blood or drop Nebraska, but I simply followed the numbers. I grouped those with over 700 weeks in the AP poll (and over 250 in top 5) as blue bloods and those with over 350 as helmet schools. Some will obviously balk at my including aggy as a helmet school, but they meet the criterion. The cutoff as set provides a historical top 25. 8 Blue blood (>700 weeks in AP) Texas Alabama 8-2-1 (.773) Michigan 1-0-0 (1.000) OU 63-51-5 (.550) OSU 2-1-0 (.667) Neb 10-4-0 (.714) ND 3-9-0 (.250) USC 2-5-0 (.286) TOTAL 89-72-6 (.551) non-OU 26-21-1 (.552) (I wanted to see how much OU biases our average, but they fall very close to the mean for other teams) 17 Helmet schools (>350 weeks in AP) Arkansas 56-23-0 (.709) Auburn 5-3-0 (.625) Clemson 0-0-0 (n/a) Florida 2-0-1 (.833) FSU 0-0-0 (n/a) Georgia 4-1-0 (.800) Iowa 1-1-0 (.500) LSU 9-8-1 (.528) Miami 2-2-0 (.500) Michigan St 0-0-0 (n/a) Oregon 4-2-0 (.667) PSU 2-3-0 (.400) Tennessee 2-1-0 (.667) Tx A&M 76-37-5 (.665) Washington 3-2-0 (.600) Wisconsin 1-0-0 (1.000) UCLA 3-4-0 (.429) TOTAL 170-87-7 (.657) GRAND TOTAL 259-159-13 (.616) Perhaps someone with more internet and spreadsheet ability and will may assemble a more complete comparison. Bottom line, though: Texas has a long history of winning football games against the best and against the best of the best.
  4. Texas beats Bama, cornering the CFP committee into leaving undefeated ACC champion FSU on the sideline. The dissatisfaction of FSU mandates that they sue to leave the ACC. Ergo ACC is yet another conference Texas has destroyed, in two of which (ACC and PAC — by virtue of spoiling a potential merger by keeping the LHN), we were never members. People not only need to avoid being our conference-mates, they should give up playing sports in which we compete.
  5. I am having trouble finding a link to the Barstool convo in which Kayce self-owns re being like OSU and OU. Any help is appreciated.
  6. Have not read the whole thread -- usual caveats and apologies. We caught a lot of flack for not putting people away. Washington hasn't beaten anyone by over 10 points since Cal in September.
  7. Have not read the whole thread so sorry if I'm not the first. I was struck by how odd it would have seemed back in the day to be told that Ohio State would play Mizzou in Arlington in December, and it would be called the Cotton Bowl.
  8. If we are hoping for the typical time as starter to be 2 years, it means that, on average, we only successfully recruit a future starter every two years. If starter-quality QBs line up to play for us and then move on because of the depth chart, I will be sorry but in a good way.
  9. If I schedule a surgery for someone and they end up choosing another surgeon after I've put in all that work, after they acted all interested in my work at our last visit, after I reserved time on my limited OR schedule for them, I usually go out of my way to lie about their family so as to ruin their family business. Because professional blah blah blah. Some people need to push back from the keyboard and take time to reflect on what they've chosen to defend. Really. Notice for Sooners and aggy who might have missed it: this post contains sarcasm.
  10. I love FrioAg00's (ag tag) contribution: He grades us B+, seems nonplussed. I suppose he's right-- we can't all have Elkworthy personnel, now, can we?
  11. The beauty of it is that of the bowls to trash aggy, it had to be the Armed Forces Bowl with the disrespect!
  12. Another head-to-head against Sark. There were rumors that this sitting SEC lineman would portal to tu, but The Elk beat them again!
  13. Elko notched an overwhelming recruiting victory, successfully retaining more than 10% of the blue-chip recruits committed to his school. At this rate, his rivals may have utterly failed to complete the destruction of aggy football for at least another month.
  14. When you put it that way, I guess you are right. His female relations probably deserve some rapey behavior, too; after all, we all know such things happen around big time athletes sometimes.
  15. This. I can believe that Sark pushed for a delay in signing to allow an in-home and an OV. I have trouble believing that Sark would add someone to the team merely because they looked good from afar.
  16. Aggy '25 Bread for the Inbred
  17. You guys are killing me. 25 26 -> 4 Edit: the Chicago song, for those unaware, refers to the time of circa 3:34 AM to 3:35 AM, not random numbers; it is "to" not "two."
  18. The inclusion of the word anagrammatic in his handle among aggies is pretty much pathognomonic for trollism. That word does not appear in either of the books in their library.
  19. They don't actually have to replace *all* or even almost all their losses. They could be significantly down and still be competitive to get within a few games of their running .500 two-year average.
  20. I don't believe in being a grammar nazi, but between he is the reciprocal error of him said. We write freely, but we did go to school.
  21. Employee status and caps would not undo NIL. NIL is the inevitable result of living in a market economy-- people are allowed to decide how to spend their money and to make deals with other people. As long as CFB is in demand, it will exist in some format. Compliance will be chasing a different list of concerns, but the world will keep turning, long after the NCAA has withered into irrelevance.
  22. There are numerous theories out there about what exactly led to Nebraska's downfall. What is decreasingly in doubt is whether they are going through a "down time" or whether they are past the point of no return. (Narrator: they passed it long ago.) Of all the places on earth a Husker fan should be talking football smack (if there are any), a Texas community is not on the list. Seriously. Next time someone from UNL is tempted to mock Texas football, he should try to remember how 12-year-olds sound when they think they have an insightful view that hadn't occurred to the adults in the room. Even if Nebraska fans are unable to resurrect the glory days of Husker football, it is not too late to be the fan base everyone thought you were before the anti-Texas pettiness became so widespread. Hook'em and welcome to those who have something worth reading to contribute.
