  1. What Austin joint that is not Franklin, would you send visitors to? Valentinas? LA? Leroy & Lewis? Interstellar?
  2. Here was Interstellar today. I have never had bad food or non-smoky “oven tasting” brisket.
  3. Leroy&Lewis going to be cooking at interstellar bbq today. Good chance to try their beef cheeks and barbacados.
  4. Last week if you arrived at Interstellar around 10:30 you would be about 15th in line. ymmv now.
  5. Hit InterStellar BBQ today. No pictures because I took most of it to-go. If you are looking for a barbecue joint in the Austin areas and you haven't tried InterStellar, you're missing out. I've been eating here for five years. I don't remember a bad bite of food. Meats and sides are top notch.
  6. That NW Austin/Cedar Park area lacks a decent barbecue joint. I hope Interstellar tastes as good as some of the pictures look.
  7. Anyone know what the line is like on a weekday at Interstellar? Have a couple of buddies that live out that way and trying to set up a lunch.
  8. So anybody guinea pigged Interstellar yet? I grabbed Taco Shack for the kids this morning, and the smoker was going. I might try it today.
  9. Interstellar is good, you wouldn't go wrong there. But I think Brotherton's in Pflugerville is actually slightly closer to the Domain, and I definitely recommend that one.
  10. Yes. John Bates switched from Noble Pig/Noble Sandwich Co. to InterStellar BBQ in the same space. They have expanded the dining area, but that's about it.
  11. Interstellar BBQ did not disappoint this morning! Got there about 10 and was about 10th in line. Probably about 50 people in line when they opened at 11.
  12. Yeah, I'll be damn close to Interstellar. May just try it out if I don't feel like driving to Pflugerville or driving + waiting somewhere downtown.
  13. I might actually hit up Interstellar as it’s 4 miles from where we need to be late afternoon. Maybe Valentina's for bfast tacos first …
  14. Interstellar throwing a 1-year anniversary party Sunday. Free beer and cooking wagyu brisket for the occasion. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  15. interstellar. very solid but not special. didn't seem like a #2 in the state #1 in central texas level establishment. and I had no real complaints about the meat.
  16. micklethwait, valentinas, leroy and lewis, and la are the top 4 on your list. they should prioritize accordingly. i might add interstellar and distant relatives if they want more.
  17. I'd go Leroy and Lewis and then La. I love Valentinas but unless you're already down there for some reason it's out of the way. Same with Interstellar up north.
  18. some info on Interstellar: Popular sandwich shop Noble Sandwich Co. opened its barbecue offshoot Interstellar BBQ today, Thursday, February 21, at 12233 Ranch Road 620 in far northwest Austin. For the following week, it will open at 11 a.m. every day with a limited menu until everything is sold out. It’s also BYOB for the time being. On Interstellar’s deck are the Texas barbecue staples — brisket, pulled pork, sausages, ribs, chicken — as well as other interesting additions like lamb shoulder and rack of lamb. Then there are sides like scalloped potatoes, spicy pickles, pinto beans, slaw, etc. Co-owners and co-chefs John Bates and Brandon Martinez had been operating Interstellar as a barbecue pop-up since last summer. They converted Noble’s original restaurant on 620for the new barbecue joint, which shuttered on Christmas Eve in 2018. (The Burnet Road sandwich location remains open.)
  19. Just did a quick check around Austin (Interstellar, Terry Blacks, Stiles,La Barbeque). All have gone up — generally $26-27 per lb
  20. Interstellar BBQ - Peach Tea Glazed Pork Belly Brotherton's Black Iron Barbecue - Texas Reuben and Texas Bahn Mi Tejas Chocolate & Barbecue - Carrot Souffle
  21. How was the line at Interstellar @Smax? What time? It's 30min from me and I really want to go, but need to figure out the total time investment so it's not a Franklin situation.
  22. How's the weekend line at Interstellar? I'm heading down to Austin in a few weeks for a university event and my wife is gonna throw a bitch fit if we have to get there at 8am
  23. Picked up Interstellar today based on recommendations in this thread. Brisket was really good, as was the turkey, beans and Mac and cheese. Sausage was alright, as were the slaw, and potato salad.. Will definitely be back.
  24. If time isn't an issue, I'd 2nd Interstellar but take the westerly route (via 67/281). Adds 30 minutes. Avoids Waco, which should be done at all costs.
  25. Hit up Interstellar bbq this weekend. Will definitely be back, it slammed and went hard. Brisket and pork ribs were on point! The complimentary beans were a bit undercooked but they had good flavor.
