Wisconsin a much better team.  Better setting, better defense.  Best we've played so far, by a significant margin.

Something the announcers mentioned that I don't pay attention to, usually, Wisconsin has better, taller DSs and they maintain spacing fantastically.  We do not.

Wow. Jerritt let Tom fly up and coach us?

That was awful

Eh. we are overrated.  I didn't think we played that well last weekend, either, but chalked it up to beginning of the season, and we hung with UF and UO and transitively Corn.  But, at least at this point in the season, Wisconsin is way ahead of us.  That last set was total garbage, first three weren't that bad.

Shook seems to be a problem.  Our defense, as per usual, isn't that great.

Could someone give a brief summary of the match. If there were any positives and the negatives. Dissapointed that they lost but these kinds of matches are good. Better to get exposed now early in the season and work on weaknesses than later in the season.

As reflected by the scores, we played pretty decently through the first three sets.  The only real standout bad was service errors.  We had 14, but they had 8 (they stopped we kept going).  Even with the close scores, it was clear that they were playing better, if not outright the better team.  Incredible digs, precise sets, hard, accurate attacks/kills from 2-3 different hitters.  We did have trouble getting the middles going, both offensively and on the block. I think Brionne got more time than MoJo, she got more "calls" both good and bad. They were missing in the first and fourth sets almost entirely.

We pretty completely fell apart in the fourth.  Back row errors, service errors, out of system all the time, long-wide attacks off of poor sets.

But, as mentioned, Wisconsin played a higher level of volleyball across the board than we did, mainly in defense and setting, the setting paying dividends on their attack.

Also, the precision of Wiscy's sets and attacks demonstrates that Shook isn't there yet.  The athleticism of our hitters can make up for some of it, but not all of it.

There are rumors that we may be getting a commit from Croatia soon... hopefully, Mirta has helped to secure a 6 rotation, ball-control pin hitter who can pass the ball and play great back row defense.

And if Jerritt can get an experienced libero transfer, he should just go ahead and give her a scholarship.  If not, Sydney and Jhenna need to be ready to play because I don't want to see Autumn on the court next year.  Claire, maybe...but Autumn needs to stay on the bench.

Thank you.

Straight set win over 1-4 Highpoint today. Hurrah

Don't know if it was on, didn't watch.  Check the box score.  High Point had 1 more kill, 1 more assist, and 4 more digs.  As with the Florida game, the lopsided stat was blocks at 14-1.  We only hit .284 for the match.  As has been common of late, we are going to live and die by the block.

Geez, the Wisconsin box is grim:  12 more kills, 3 more aces, 10 more assists, and 14 more digs.  We hit .231.

Elliott needs to let Logan gain experience in the back row by letting her play there instead of Rounsaville.

And Jhenna needs to play in Hahn’s spot.

Neither of those DS’s are putting up decent dig numbers or passing consistently enough to be in the starting lineup IMO.

I really want to like Shook but she is the weakest setter on a top 10 team.  Her out-of-system setting needs lots of work. Unfortunately, we have no other options at that position...unless Elliott decides to pick up a transfer setter in the off-season.

Pretty fair analysis.  I went and checked the VT thread on the Wiscy game, which was actually tolerable because the Wiscy fans are cool.  Apparently that was their best game this year by a pretty far stretch.
